Wonderful video! Thank you for sharing your passion and expertise. I am sure it is somewhere in the comments, but I wanted to add that individuals who suffer a cerebellum stroke are affected on the SAME side as the stroke. My husband had a massive left cerebellum stroke (90% loss) and has severe left side neglect. He works hard in rehab, though it is going to take lots more work and time. Videos like yours are so helpful. Thank you!!

Thank you for this! I have someone who had a stroke about the time you released this video and his behavior!!😯 He's managed to rub everyone around him wrong, but who he is now is not who he was pre-stroke. Glad I found something I can share with those who want to support him, so we can properly support.

Great explanation ~ my wife just had a right side stroke 3 days ago. This explains her new world - she suffers from claustrophobia and this has made it even harder for her - specially since she has hard time opening here eyes. Touching her and hugging her and massaging seem to give her reference points and that she's not alone. I am trying to learn how best to help her. Thanks for sharing this very informative video ~~~ cheers from my side.

Have a good friend who had 3 strokes 14 years ago. He uses a walker to get around but lives a fairly normal life otherwise. He lost right side vision after the strokes for about 80% on the right side. Recently he has been having a mirage type of vision on the bottom quadrant of the right side. Which was totally not there before. Along with this he has had extreme dizziness/vertigo and balance has been worse than normal. Have you ever heard of this in a stroke survivor of 14 years?

I have damage to the right side of the brain; left half of body affected; hemiplegic left side of my body. I don’t have any issues with spatial awareness, but my sense of balance is completely whacked out; a slight bump or touch makes me feel like I’ll fall. And just blowing air on my left arm is painful. So weird.

Hi, I’ve just discovered your very educational videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I’m 12 years post stroke, I live in Melbourne Australia, and it seems most therapists here haven’t updated their therapy techniques in 20 years. I’m struggling with nerve pain and spasticity, amongst a few other issues and have begun applying your exercises to my daily routine 👍 My question to you about right side stroke and neglect is - my haemorrhageic stroke AVM, occurred in my brain stem, Pons/medullar oblongatta area. It has affected the left side of my body but the right side of my head/face. I experience the left side neglect as you’ve describe. Does this mean treatment for me would be a similar approach? Thank you so much :)

Hi Antonio, I can’t answer your questions; as I am just a fellow stroke survivor. Just wanted to say hello. I admire you; having been dealing with this for 12 years; I’m just 3 years in from my stroke, and even that seems so long. Regardless, God bless you sir and may you always have peace and comfort. I’m way over in Arizona.👍🏻

Multiple Sclerosis relapses or like mini strokes right? I keep saying I feel like my eyes can see but my brain is blind. No one is giving any answers beyond optic neuritis. But I've had multiple eyes exams and my eyes are fine perfect even but I'm never quite sure what is the thing I have to do next and where to find things where I last put them. Also HALLWAYS! When I walk down hallways where everything is close up it makes me dizzy but as soon as the walls open up in to my living room it's very disorientating as it takes time to regain my suroundings

My husband has profound sensory loss to his right side after a left hemisphere bleed. We’ve been told it is not neglect. He sees the full visual field. He has learned to drive again and can back up a trailer. But we aren’t sure what to do about the profound sensory loss. It’s difficult for him to exercise that side because he isn’t aware of how well he is holding an item or where his foot is precisely. He’s 12 years post AVM bleed and has not done therapy for approximately 6 years now. Do you have any videos on assisting with recovery from sensory loss?

Right side of your brain controls the left side of your body, the left side of your brain controls the right side of your body. So if your stent was placed on the right side of your brain you would show effects on the Left side of your body. Hope that helps.

Thanks for sharing! If it is a peripheral nerve (caused by prolonged and/or sustained pressure which might compress the nerve), they take a long time to "heal". But keep working on it!

@@krystalhernandez4692 a certified hand therapist may be helpful as well. Did your OT/PT teach you any nerve glides or shoulder exercises? Sounds like a radial nerve issue. Nerves take quite a while to heal up. But like Rehab HQ says, keep working on it. Lots of repetition with attempts to move it and do the exercises/stretches will help!
