That must suck for the owner of the cat cause they chose the neighbor XD My neighbor's cat and dog always goes to our house before it was fully built so when we moved they still come to our house. My dad would feed the dog because it stays with us at night since he most of the time feed them at fixed time at night. The cat isn't with us during the night and it eventually stops visiting because our cat and theirs always have territorial fights. My cousin, who's our neighbor, was so jealous. He love his dog so he was talking to his dog how "it's fine then! We ain't your family anymore" though mostly a joke, he obviously love his dog.

They are wonderful pets. I miss them terribly - both dogs 'n cats a bird and hamsters! Full house - and GREAT!!

It's funny you mentioning that love has no boundaries because when I was helping my friend train his dog, after a few months the dog would gaze a stare at me like I thought was weird. It wasn't until after my friend moved that I learned a dog staring into your eyes like that means it loves you. Always turning his head to make sure I wasn't far behind on our walks. I would sit in a chair and he would place his paws on me just to look at me or from the floor while he was falling asleep. 😢 I miss that dog more than ever. I'd get him dog bones from time to time to chew on. Think I miss that dog more than my friend giving him belly rubs.

Yes. You are absolutely right. And cats certainly know that they are cute, cuddlesome and loveable, and they take full advantage of this - not that they wish to exploit us humans, but on the contrary they wish to share their feline love with us humans, which is at once so unique and special.

Even though it's anecdotal, orange cats seem to be very friendly with people. Don't know why. Had a couple of them. One wasn't even ours in the beginning, he just chose us.

Most perfect name ever...Marmalade

I have one! When we moved in to our apartment, a big orange tabby (neutered and ear tipped) started hanging out. We let him inside, and he soon became ours. "Sunny" is a love and loyal to the bone; when I walk to the dumpster or the mailbox, he follows me, and if I go into another apartment he panics and howls. This cat would go into battle for me, and I will love him forever.❤

@@plaidpanda My Marmalade was dumped off the side of a freeway. I lived in a lovely, old apartment building that had two top floor suites at either end of the hallway and each had a roof top deck. My suite was one of those. In the summer I would keep the door open and most evenings Marmie would spend some time out there on the deck. I would bring her in and close the door as it got dark but one evening she wasn't there. I searched the entire apartment but couldn't find her. I finally figured out that she was walking a small ledge from my deck and along the side of the building to the deck at the other end of the building. The couple that lived there were also keeping their door open and Marmie was going into their suite and visiting them. When they finally approached me and told me how much they enjoyed Marmie's visits, I told them about her likes and dislikes including food and toys so they provided her with the same as she got from me. It was such a wonderful experience for all of us to share and love this beautiful little orange tabby cat that had been dumped on the side of a freeway.

@@camillep3631 She had been dumped on the side of a freeway and shortly after gave birth to six gorgeous kittens. I didn't plan to keep her so she was called Mommy for the short term. But I fell head over heels in love with her and, after finding homes for all the kittens, decided that I couldn't let her go. It was an easy transition from Mommy to Marmie and I don't think she even noticed the difference. As with most cats, she had many names ... Marmalade, Marmie, Mommy. I loved her so much.

Wow! Thanks for teaching me something new. I didn't know there was a term for that. I get that all the time with cats and human babies.

This happened more than a decade ago, My neighbour opposite my house, brought a cat from his office. The cat chose to stay with my family instead. He ran away though after being with us for a few years after we moved house. Miss him badly.

We also had a part-time cat. He wasnt happy with the other cats of my neighbour. He was a bit of an outsider. So he choose to stay with us when we were at home. He especially loved our garden, but also the fine food and cuddles. It was his playground and also hunted there. He caught some lizzards and twice rats. He had also fights with other cats during the night. i guess thats why he disappeared one day😢 rip

Cats are intelligent and wise. They know how to get what they need. It's we humans who get in their way of their happiness and contentment.

working 8 to 5, mon - fri, sometimes weekend too, and sometimes i think i don't spend much time with my 2 boys at home, so i can understand if they're looking for love and comfort elsewhere 😓

I had one for 17 years, he was the cutest, sweetest and most loving cat I ever had. Miss him so much 😭 letting them go is the tough part, but it's so worth it!

I had to let mine go last year, after exactly 17 years too 😭 Yeah ginger cats are really special 😍 I'll always love him, Grisu my little fireman.

some people don’t want to neuter cats. we like the natural way.

Doesn’t protect the local wildlife from roaming cats and doesn’t protect the cats from disease, injury or painful deaths. Humans are the worst.

@@Daysgobye52 all of the kittens we have are adopted, not put to shelters fool. Probably Lonely old woman who can’t have kids of her own.

You basically handled the responsibilities of your neighbours. Those cats probably were looking for homes at some rescue after being dumped, and the next best thing was being farm cats. I hope they have a warm place to sleep during winters if you have subfreezing temps. Thank you for caring for them.
