Neighbors Want This DUMP CLEANED UP, Homeowner is Physically Unable To MOW Her OVERGROWN LAWN

A neighbor contacted me to see if I would come clean this place up a bit. When I arrived I found out the the people who live there are physically unable to keep up with their lawn. They told me that the city is always on their butt to get this place cleaned up. Some of it is the overgrown lawn itself, but some of it is all the trash and construction debris piled up in the yard. I did what I could to get the lawn back into shape.

Our neighbor Bill took amazing care of his yard. He had a stroke a couple of months ago. He hasn't been home from the hospital and care center yet. If he does get to come home some day... He will find his yard in excellent condition and care. Us and our other neighbors take care of it for him. It would break his soul to come home to his yard not being taken care of. We will not let that happen!!!

I'm a outdoor kinda person. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I thought my world had ended. BUT I didn't stop going outside. Although walking and lifting became very difficult, it didn't stop me trying to do my yard. Wish I could show you what sitting on the ground with a small shovel trying became. It took 2 years but I made a flower bed. Family bought me a riding mower, so chemotherapy didn't stop me from keeping my grass up. They also got me an electric chainsaw, that I cut a few trees down with. I had 2 years to do something that I could of done in a week. My family is awesome for supporting me. Thank you for taking the time to support and help the disabled.

That is so sweet of you and your husband. My parents retired in Oklahoma City. When it got to the point where my dad could not mow the lawn anymore, one week the neighbor on the right would do it for them and the following week the neighbor on the left side it. The neighbors are the people who called us to let us know dad could not find his way home when walking the dog. Thank God for those people who kept him safe until we could hire someone to be with him in his home.

You know before neighbors start complaining they should actually go see if the neighbor needs help or is having problems. I’m disabled and live in a small town as in population of 500. Not once has any of my neighbors ever even knocked on my door to be neighborly. When did we stop doing this? I’ve known most of these people since jr. high and I’m almost 60 years old. It’s really quite sad that we’ve become so selfish and too busy to be nice and check on folks.

I think it's technology, when i was a child we would all be in the street playing together, the parents would be in the gardens talking to each other, if my mother needed something from the local shops while my father was at work, first she would ask our immediate neighbours if they needed anything while she was there, and then she would not even close the door never mind locking it before taking us to the shops, now kids are all indoors on their game systems and computers parents are watching tv or on their computers, and you wouldn't think of walking down the street to the corner shop now without making sure all your windows and doors were locked, there are no neighbourhood communities anymore, we used to know every single person in our street and most of the surrounding streets, now we don't know a quarter of the people in our own street.

Even if they don't want to touch her things, they could have made arrangements for a dump truck or two to pick up the trash in the yard. The owner could be so over/underwhelmed, she doesn't know what to do, or where to start.

AMEN, Brother... preach it! Then again, on the flip side of the "help" factor, are watching HUGE segments of society nearly self-destruct right in front of our eyes. Scary thing is, those who are still responsible and caring people are just going about their lives and allowing it to happen. We vote left-leaning morons into local, state, and federal government, who tell people they are entitled to whatever they want, whenever they want it, how they want it, from whomever they want to take it from, and wonder why our nation is sinking into the depths of depravity... and make no mistake about it, it IS! Wake up, America! BTW... I am not talking about people who physically cannot help themselves. This guy is helping people on that front. And he's making things a little better in his own way... doing his part to make things better.

We’ve helped our neighbor out on several occasions plus WE paid for a new fence down the property line ( they have dogs ) We never asked for a cent! They have a brand new mulching mower with bag, a trimmer, blower. They have a snowblower but seldom use it. We shovel by hand drive and public sidewalk out front. Trim cut and blow our yard every Friday. We sit in our yard and smell dog crap! Decomposing lawn clippings from one of the 3 times he’s mowed! We See weeds and uncut lawn ( 2-3 ft) We rake their leaves, We pick up their cherries , plums in our yard. As they do not maintain anything. Sad! They are younger than us , we have medical issues but get out there and do it! We tried talking to him and he has attitude. Sad that they were blessed to purchase a home but then are letting it rot away, Biggest investment we have I’ll be darned if they will prevent me from selling at optimum price. Pure LAZINESS on their part. I pay extra for pest control, weed and feed, etc. If you choose to live this way , go to the country. It’s lack of respect when you have neighbors!

Now that the yard is semi-cleaned-up, perhaps the homeowner can contact a local Scout troop to spend some Saturday afternoon cleaning up all the crap in the yard... That could be coordinated with the local garbage or bulk-pickup people, to take that stuff away. The scouts could do a community service and perhaps even get a badge or two out of the deal, and the yard could be returned to a more normal yard that only requires general upkeep!

That's the thing that bugs me about all these people Top Notch Lawn Care is helping out - have they done NO OUTREACH to connect with groups or programs that can help them? Do they live in areas where there are no such groups or county or state funded organizations to help disabled and/or elderly and ailing homeowners? Where are the families - why aren't they helping? Have these people NO friends who can help? If the homeowner is too proud to ask for help, then sell the house and move to an apartment, or a nursing home.
