I was a child and I remember being so invested in this storyline and how excited I was for Harold's return lol as much as this show was targeted primarily are young people, it was the older characters who made it. I loved their storylines more than the 'teen' storylines.

Spot on. Madge was the best Neighbours character of all time. Along with Harold, Jim, Helen. Scott and Charlene were very over rated.

I remember how excited and mesmerised I was by this whole storyline as an 11/12 year old boy lol I couldn't believe they were bringing a dead character back. The last episode I ever watched of Neighbours was when the Martin's moved out and Holly Vallance's family passed them in their truck as they entered Ramsay street. I knew it was the end of an era and the end of the show that I grew up watching and loving and, apparently, I was right. They really don't make 'em like this anymore!

I would like to pay my respects to the final episode of Neighbours. Personally, I was quite disappointed with some of the delivery - Especially For You plays and cue Scott and Charlene - wtf? And three words spoken by Kylie - such a let down! On the other hand, we have to give it up for Guy Pearce - his performance was the show stealer and Annie Jones was great in the supporting role as such 🙂

Neighbours had lost the plot by this time and were desperate to go back to past former glories by resurrecting Madge and Harold. It didn't really work as Madge wasn't as feisty anymore and all Harold did was play the tuber. The glory days of Neighbours were 1986 to 1993.
@jaywest3734

Fonejacker I think Neighbours was good in the late 90s and early 2000s, but do specifically remember it sucking in the mid 90s.
@teleaddict23

Jay West Neighbours went through ups and downs in the 90s. It’s best period was the 80s/early 90s. The mid 90s did absolutely suck when the Kennedys first appeared. I remember watching it in the late 90s/early 2000s so i guess it was better by then.

I still thought they were great and desperately needed as the show had gone a bit rubbish. They’d killed too many good characters off in the early 90s. Like Todd, Jim Julie and Cheryl. I hate when soaps kill great characters for no reason.
