An expression I learned years ago that has helped me get over and move on from nasty, mean people is, "What others think of me is none of my business."
@SweatyFatGuy
@SweatyFatGuy 3 года назад
The thing that gives me perspective on what happens, what others do, and life in general is "Everything is Temporary." Told to me by a veteran service officer with the VA who is a Vietnam veteran. Being a Gulf War and Iraq veteran, it was something I needed to hear, because the military makes us care greatly about even the smallest of things. I ask myself if its giving me stress right now, will it matter in 5 billion years when the sun goes red giant and engulfs the earth? Of course not. Does it matter right now? Sure, it could be immensely important or just a little, but tomorrow it might not, so I handle what I have to handle today, and stop worrying. My current stress... I have three broken winter beaters in my yard, and I am stranded 13 miles from town unless I drive my restored 1965 GTO that I rebuilt, thankfully the salt is off the roads due to warm weather, but there is no heat in it. Usually I have 5 to 8 feet of snow here this time of year, and they are spreading salt like candy in a 4th of July parade from 1976, but its nice out there and it rained earlier this week so the roads are clean. So I find the whole thing simply amusing. So its time to put them in the shop, one by one, and fix them. Just do what you gotta do. I haven't cared what other people think about me since I was 9 or 10. They didn't like me anyway, so why care? People like me now, and its nice, but not the meaning of my life. I like that expression of yours though. Unless they have some kind of power or control over you, what people think about you is only important to them.

Not always easy, but absolutely true. I had many very violent words come my way, a thousand times, but I lived my version of the quote and somehow I'm still alive, without anyone ever being injured. @@tomm3950 Hey Tom, I appreciate you're willingness to be open to new concepts, but if you understand anything at all about how propaganda works, you'll know that sifting through the heaps of it can be an arduous task, to say the least. If you're not at all sure how it works or how to spot it, then I recommend reading or listening to some recognizable people who are well informed in the art. I'd start first with the book (or audio book) Propaganda, by Edward Bernays, but only if you are fully aware he was basically the United States chief executive to mastermind many US govt. endorsed/supported propaganda campaigns. To help you understand that, I'd recommend researching Mark Crispin Miller who studied and taught propaganda at NYU, and who wrote the forward to a later published addition of E. Bernays' book nearly a century after it was first introduced. Consequently professor Miller was removed from duty shortly after the Covid-19 mandate propaganda drives became implemented in the US and around the world, as he was quickly able to recognize and call out the propaganda taking place. Consequently, he was just as quickly removed from his professing position by a single student who tweeted he was endangering lives. If in the meantime I can find a link, or give more meaningful insight, I'd be happy to share it with you.

We're never as strong, as we are until we have to be. Never Do as much, unless the need we see. Only give our best, when we fail at mediocrity. We Love rather than hate when we admit we're one humanity. We always give more, when compassion moves our heart with unbridled generosity. We Become more of our potential when we are made to see, that clearly our minds can believe in unfathomable possibilities, while seizing every opportunity, here in lies one's destiny. More than our scars, higher than our stars, for in our flaws are what defines our features, they're uniquely ours, as human creatures. We can run faster than on our slowest day. Reason better, and thinking it through all the way, regardless which direction our emotions may sway. We can find our voice when speechless, our strong words with meekness and our Courage in weakness. Always patience not quickness. Silence for peace than loudness, quietness of fear, not hopeless, for time and effort are equally unbiased. We are more than the stories we're told, we're the one's we write, each page unfold. We are the sum of our Lies and truth, fantasy, fiction, faith, and myths, no matter how uncouth. These are what shape us, our lives lived is the proof. We can be more right than wrong. More just than judge. More godlike than unlike. Reflecting Sunlight in our darkest night. Providing refuge. Never more alive until we die within and begin again. How the hell do we know what Albert Einstein has said? Too often there are insightful words tied to people who simply DID NOT SAY THEM. It’s become a method in which to get people to give credibility to words that they would not otherwise give it to. Who is Einstein anyway? Some guy “they” have been putting in our faces since we were children. What does anyone really KNOW about this Einstein character? What do YOU reading this really KNOW about him? What can you say about him? What can you say about him that wasn’t trained into you about him? Quotes on their OWN (aka “unknown author”) have next to no power, all because most PEOPLE on their own BELIEVE they THEMSELVES have next to no power.

I respectfully disagree with that statement. One of the biggest regrets of people on their deathbed is that they wish they could have done better in term of relationships and for the people around them. My point is : you must have the wellbeing of other people in mind when setting up your life goal. Or else it's just a selfish goal. What is the point of "success" and happiness if you accomplished nothing positive for those around you ? (and when i say "accomplish", it's not about being known and reaching the top 1%, it's all about being a nice and decent human being)

I haven't watched the complete video, but what's being said here can be used in an array of ways. It's kind of sad that any adult will stoop low to tell a child that they won't be good at x, y or z. I can see their peers and those who company they keep making fun of them (whether for jokes or in an attempt to bully them)......but an adult doing that is just off! Most kids don't even realize how most adults can see what they're capable of......and depending on the quality of the adults mind they will either try to mentally and physically destroy them or they will be an asset to what they can see they're capable of. It's a shame, but hey. Folk will also use words to manipulate and steer others to think in ways that they want them to or want them to start thinking.....something you can see on the internet hourly. Whether it be about themselves, their goals, their sanity, their interest.....the list goes on. This type of "psychology" has always been in circulation. To the point that those who use it will believe that everyone is like them and desire to control and manipulate others at will (for whatever self serving reason). What's fun for some, is pretty much a bore for others.

When you're amongst people that mean you well, it's for you to listen........whether or not they're related to you. As that's just the order of things. We're all blessed in ways that we need to be for whatever amount of time. There are children that are amongst the scum of the earth (that they know to be family) and they'll either listen to these types and fall prey to their phuckery or they will ignore them and learn to make good choices (compliments of their internal guide). Sometimes it's best to appreciate that which you're *given, as the reason for their presence supercedes your understanding. I know kids that got beside themselves and made a mockery of kids/people they knew that did not have the essentials that they had (mother/father and family) Time fast forward and every adult that they had in their life that they knew as family started passing away. Before they knew it, they literally stood in the same shoes that the individual/s they made a mockery of stood in. The only difference between them and that person/those individuals was, they ended up losing their mind, as they had no idea what it meant or felt to be without what they were use to. Although there are those that may fall short in one area, trust and believe they've been equipped in others. No different than those that have what appears to be normal and natur.

I simply hated the idea of having conflicts in my life. I had the compulsion that you could only be happy in the absence of conflicts in all aspects of life. Consequently, my actions were in accordance to how others were feeling at the moment. I thought this was the right way to deal with relationships, but it obviously wasn't. I only became more vulnerable. Sincerely accepting the following sentence with my heart changed my life: “You can be happy, regardless of whatever.” I was convinced that if I really was okay, I would have a comfortable and happy life under any circumstance. After establishing this emotional pillar, I felt other people trying to support me. Many people also began to make more time to talk with me. There were people who said they wanted to start a new project with me, work with me, or simply spend more time with me. Some connected me with opportunities that I had always set my eyes on. This phenomenon was truly amazing, and is unforgettable.

I love your channel. I’ll be 70 in December 2022. I have just found my voice in 2018 when a tumor was removed from my brain. The craniotomy is not highlighted for the surgery. It’s a marker on my life journey timeline. PTSD set in and I became empowered after facing my memories of teenage paternal molestation and maternal narcissism. I am proud of who I am and how I came to this new revelation. Here’s my latest poem. I started authoring poems after surgery. “Today Today feels unburdened Light and free at a cellular level churnin. My heart filtering trauma remnants Fragmentation broken freeing embedment. Turning ashen darkness abyss from surreal To awareness of a safe oasis appeals. Mystery lurking to what each day brings One day treading water today I swim nimbly as an otter. Spring sprouting tiny buds excitedly Love for my children feeds my entire heart and heart strings. Sigh of relief I’m embracing this thing The thing that buries the trauma in a bottomless bracket sealed lockring. Oh the joy When a quote is sent by my dearest friend, My soul sister, bound by creativity, unhinged from societal proclivities. “Strong women aren’t born, They’ve forged through fires They’ve had to walk through. They’re warriors with hearts of gold”-silver ravenwolf- I’m a warrior, trauma generational cyclical destroyer, Learning to walk alone through the narrow doorway of new dreams Dropping deadbeat toxic friends and family at my feet. A ball of string resembles clutching this set of familiar toxicity close to my heart I don’t unravel it I burn the ball scorching all remains for my fresh start. Today is the day I choose to navigate Not yesterday or tomorrow that is susceptible to self flagellate. Today is the day I cherish the crew handpicked trusted loved ones Who love honor respect Most assuredly cherish me AS I DO, through and through. “ Kimi Minor

I believe in a God, mostly because of the Big Bang theory (if all matter, energy, and TIME was encapsulated within the demi-particle in perfect balance, then something changed and it exploded to create the universe, then wtf, how could something change without time unless acted upon by an outside force (God or ar the equivalent)). I do not believe God is a Caretaker. We may or may not be His favorite creation, it often seems as though it's more of a "Let's see how this works out" situation. I’m 62 and was taught the “sticks and stones” mantra. It’s excellent to deflect the arrows people send your way. It helps if you don’t believe about yourself internally what the nasty people say to you. So another skill parents need to teach their children is how to be a good person and to value that about yourself. We’re all born with immutable characteristics that none of us chose. We’re bombarded with images that warp our senses so we begin to compare our immutable characteristics we didn’t choose with the images we’re shown that we’ve interpreted as having value and use them to assess our worth and internalised. Along comes an arrow from a nasty unenlightened person that says out loud what you’ve come to believe about yourself and that’s why it hurts. Not because they believed it about you, but because you believed it about yourself. Imagine if a child was taught the folly of judging themselves based on characteristics they had no choice in and instead valued themselves because they believed themselves to be a good person. Along comes a nasty name attached to an arrow and now it’s meaningless, because it says nothing about their personhood, That’s the armour if resilience we need to give to children, because we’ll never rid the world of nasty unenlightened people and nor should we want to lest we become them.

I try to tell people the same. You have learn how to Love yourself first, no One can Love you if you don't love yourself... Don't worry if your pretty, handsome, make enough money, my body is not perfect, I'm not smart enough for somebody,. Were not looking at ourself to want go on a date with ourselves. There is no need to worry about it. It is up to others to see and decide what they think of us. each of us have different perspectives, see things differently . One person might see think another might not might might not bad. Some people think im crazy others think im smart, People see me in all kinds of ways. When I was shy , insecure and I heard he must think he is better than us.. When I stop shy and insecure and learn to share I still heard , he must think he's better. Just learn to Love your Self and except who you are..If you want to loose weight and don't, accept and move on with life. Life can become easy when can remove the Fear and the lies that have been trying to stick inside us since birth. It is your life it's up to you to create what you want and how you want to live. Free your mind and the rest will follow.

@@catkeys6911 Are you sure? There is wisdom in what she wrote but does that make her a wise person? Notice Roxee57 words and the one's above. They have a fatal flaw, the self! Learning can't take place in a vacuum, no man is an island. "There is more than connects us than divides us" We are social animals, we learn off each other, including the nasties. The wisdom is fine if you can deflect the arrows, the wisdom is fine if you have the ability to ignore the insults, the wisdom is fine if you know they are nasty people and the insults aren't true, especially if one is bombarded. But if one never obtained the armour nor is it immutable, then the resilience could be formed from the insults, doesn't take much to turn that armour to bitterness. Turn and offer the other cheek and enable the nasty person or stand up to them and risk turning into them? That the binary choice you were offered by your 'wise person'. Dig deeper, perhaps there's a more wise third option? You missed the relevance of the runners story. Neither did he ignore and not believe the insult, nor did he fight against it, the third option won the race.

Well ask the people what are the top three thinngs they whould like to see change and who they think is responsible to change them once . Now they have a voice. I think that comes from the Bible . Let he who have not sinned cast the first stone ... As you will know stoning,s were a daily occurrence...back in that time . I do not believe myself as the Bible was written sooooo long after Jesus lived ... I believe Jesus was a normal man who started a religion. The bible is NOT his real story .. it was made up and edited ... a lot of the parts ended up in the bin . I enjoyed some of the moral stories . It is the judgemental parts. I find so wrong and dangerous . Every person interprets it differently too . Sadly to the detriment of their relationships with family or friends ... what Jesus meant by that or moses or whoever . Who says who has interpreted it correctly. Considering they also put the time frame in as the same time frame dinosaurs roamed the earth . Not one mention in the Bible ???? Pretty BIG oversight to say the least .... As I have said good moral stories but not to try and live life by in the 21st century ! ! Impossible.... just like some of the bible stories...🤷‍♀️ lol .👍✌. I believe Jesus was a good man who challenged the system. For that he was a good man but that's my point . Just like Tom Paine , Gandhi. Dr M.L.K.jr , Che Guevera, William Wilberforce William Wallace , Keir Hardie etc (I know I have missed a lot but this would go on forever so I was just trying to get a short mix of good men . That is who Jesus was. A man who saw the wrongs and injustices Who decided to act to try and bring much needed change .Even when the power is against them ! Brave men but no sons of God . I am obviously just putting forward my opinion . I can't speak for anyone else obviously ! !. I admire all the men on the list for doing what they did In their way to try and make a difference ! It is a trait that we seem to have lost with all the new laws passed . It is something that is not seen as much nowadays ! We could be doing with some modern day heroes of this caliber ! I really can,t think of ANYONE today as selfless and brave ! ✌ Good wishes and hats off to anyone who is trying to make a difference in this cold selfish world we live in today ! ! So I concur with NDS, as long as you are curious, and humane, you can live a fulfilling life, and if you can handle the tragedies that will inevitably occur, it can also be a happy life.

Our job is to deal with whatever happens, and try to make the world a better place, and try extremely hard not to make things worse, and try to learn as much as we can, especially about love and kindness. Computer or data science is miles better and more fun. Also, getting top certifications in IT often make a better impression than a degree. Too many students end up clueless with 100k in debt. isn't just what you do but what you don't do. Not just what you did but how you did it. Not just what you said but how you said it. Love is so simple yet the simple make it so hard. Love Is full of knowledge yet even the smart don't get it. Love doesn't cost a fortune yet fortunes are spent trying to gain it. Love does demand of you yet you are not willing to sacrifice for it. Those who only seek what love can give and do for them, do nothing for love and others and in such selfish pursuit, in turn rob themselves of love's best gift. Make this year the year you seek to sow love and not just reap it. Be love and not just think it. Do love and not just say it. Talk love and just don't fake it. Seek love and just don't chase it. Embrace it but don't enslave it, share it but don't dare boast in it. Enjoy it but don't abuse it. Free it and watch it come back. Invest in it and watch it pay back. Wash your life in it, light your darkness with it, eat your food with it conduct your business with it and above all else Serve God in it. For whatever love is and is not, it's all of, for and From Him. He is LOVE! " By Steven Gooden

Although any “proofreading” would’ve been my responsibility, I blame my phone for inserting “that” when my intention was to say “the”. My opinion was based mostly on believing that amidst the limelight of recognition he might receive, Dr Tyson’s knowledge might better reach those that are oblivious to many of the discoveries, of this generation. I felt that way, having only recently been verbally attacked by a coworker. As I was proudly displaying some recent archaeological discoveries, made at a Middle Archaic period camp site, and discussing the transition to heat treating lithic spear points, a bystander suddenly blurted out that my spear points couldn’t be 5000 years old, because the earth was only 4000 years old! I politely asked how the Grand Canyon might be explained, and was surprised to learn that “god put it there”. I then asked about the fossilized dinosaur footprints, on a mountain side in Bolivia, and why I might find Megladon shark teeth, in the same riverbed, almost adjacent to a Mammoth/Mastodon kill site, that I excavated in 2003. I was under the impression that most of Florida was submerged, prior to the last Ice age, but soon discovered that a grown man, my age, was thoroughly convinced that planet Earth is only 4000 years old. According to him, god carefully placed all of my archaeological finds, just to someday question my faith! I had to back away. The disbelief I felt, is hard to describe. Someone is teaching these ideas, to people like my coworker. I knew better than to get involved with an impossible debate, only quietly hoped that more, if not everyone, would embrace the reality of modern science.

I have to confess. Growing up I was often made to feel as if I would never live up to my full potential. I also have to admit my aspirations were never overly impressive for a C grade student. My aptitudes were more hands-on than cerebral. I had to bide my time until I found my calling. A man’s purpose in life is to find his purpose. I made the mistake of believing what my primary school teachers would tell me. They said, "Richard, you'll never make a living staring out a window." Still, I wasn't really listening. Imagine my elation when every day since my commitment to never work a day in my life. I had found that job. It was the closest I would get to being self-employed. I would go on to become a loving husband and provider for my family. I relied on muscle memory to keep me aligned in the curb lane as I travelled down the highway behind the wheel of a semi tractor-trailer on my nineteenth birthday, just three years after receiving my chauffeurs’ license. I often reminisced being in those grade school classes, hearing quite clearly those derogatory words. Then it dawned on me how the future has a way of writing itself given the patience and the proper motivation. Both were present, moving away from pain and towards my pleasure. I had often heard that you'll never get anywhere in life without having to rely on somebody to help you get there. I was going to have to serve somebody. I didn't know then about the drive that would spur me on to prove my teachers wrong. Strange calling, to want to be the best driver I could be. I went on to a higher calling, so I had reasoned. Instead of general merchandise in the back of a forty-foot cube van, transporting people was a nobler profession. As an operator of a forty or sixty-foot coach, I have driven accident-free for twenty-one years and earned the right to be designated a six-time bus Rodeo champion. The designation earned me the respect of my peers. I asked myself whom did I have to thank for my lifelong endeavour? Nobody, I drove myself to where I wanted to be. Another opportunity presented itself. An opportunity that would allow me to pay it forward. A natural progression for my passion and now a better mission. To take what I had learned and teach others who sought what I did those many years ago. The apex of my career was my role as a Driving Instructor for a world-class public transportation company. An additional seven years of proclivity to become a teacher. Too bad they don't have class reunions for grade schools. Thirty-eight years of staring out my windshield and never missed a pay cheque. The only difference, it's a pension cheque now and I'm truly driving on my own time, staring out a window that wasn't supposed to hold much promise. RHP

Excellent set of sentiments. A few months ago, I read a story once about dying and the soul goes to the place of judgement. There God asks like 30 questions . "Have you bore false witness (slander/gossiped)?", "Have you murdered?", ... to the very last and most important question that could over rule all the negative offenses, "Is there anyone for whom you helped make their life better that will speak for you?" Yes, changing the world does not mean you did all the work yourself. You change the world every time you interact with another. A kindness, helps make the other kinder. Cruelty makes the other more cruel. People wonder why I harp on manners, courtesy, politeness, and respect. I believe when you show true respect you elevate the person you are interacting with, that their world view improves a little. The same goes for when you are polite, courteous, or mannerly. It rubs off, if only minutely in some cases. I am mostly hermit like but when out shopping or traveling, if I can I try to make at least one person's day a little better. I call it random acts of kindness. And though that is not why I do it, as I have done this for years/decades, maybe if questioned one of these people will step up and speak for me. I will know then that I did just a tiny bit of good and maybe helped change the world.
