As someone who's listened to a lot of "you know what I hate?" rants in my time, this is by far the BEST EVER! The fact that it is coherent, factually based and funny to boot just makes it that much better.
What I really love about this story is that it shows how much trust we place in people who claim to have expert knowledge. Only a tiny handful of people in the world are capable of hiring a submersible to go down to check out the wreck of the Titanic, so we just have to take Cameron at his word when he says all those little details in the film are authentic. Cameron getting the sky wrong fucks up that trust. Neil was sitting in the movie theater looking at the lazily mirrored stars and asking himself "if this guy was willing to mess up an easily verifiable detail, then I wonder how much of the unverifiable details in this movie are BS."
The stars in the sky Rose was looking at should have been from different constellations etc. The star pattern should have been very different from what was in the film.
Stars in the sky change positions throughout the year. One can calculate precisely how the stars were (or will be) positioned on a given date in a given place. We know when and where the Titanic sank, so astronomers know how the stars were supposed to be positioned that night, and Cameron got it wrong.
Imgur's only reason for existing is as an image platform for reddit. You're like the rats in an experiment, clueless as to the real nature of your reality, as the redditors observe from high above.
