@@debbieolson5348I was nine and wore out two Hot August Night album sets. I only listen to VINYL. Oddly, the 2nd record set I bought (25 years later) was made of a thinner, lighter VINYL - I thought that was weird 😄!
A singer who can and does cause a 70 year old man to produce tears simply because of the memories of my teenage years. What a beautiful voice thank you Neil. 😊
Amen brother, I turned 61 today and completely got the chills. When I was 12-years old I got on a bus to downtown Toledo and used my paper route money to buy his "Gold" album. It was the first record I ever bought, it was like a pound of real gold to me in 1974.
I saw Neil Diamond in Calgary in 1985. He cancelled the concert and returned to Brooklyn for his Dad's funeral. He returned to Calgaey & did two concerts, not just the original show planned. Two nights of a sold out SADDLEDOME! He was incredible. Today, this many years later, I heard that his Mother jyst passed. He has Parkinson's now. God bless Neil Diamond, his music & his family. Prayers for all. 🙏
Neil Diamond makes me think of America as a happy place not the divided country it is today The days when you would go to work for a days pay and come home with joy and happiness for all and be thankful for whatever your job could provide for you When Neil was in his heyday America was truly a United State Thank you Neil for all the joy you have put into peoples lives
In the 60s and 70s we were NOT a divided country. Not much. Oh, we had our disagreements, but back then, whether you were a Republican or a Democrat, you would cheerfully refer to the other party as the Loyal Opposition. The division that has been cultivated and fomented and inserted into our country and culture by the vile satanic evil that is communism and its followers has done great damage to us. We must resist, and fight back, every day.
I Think it was THEN?? Maybe I'm wrong & he was trying to make an attempt (his attempt) to get us Americans to feel Proud (enough) as Free Americans, to come together as a unit, As Americans. Like when the 9-11 happened in New York, for instance.
Those days are gone...for now. I do have faith they'll be back. I've lived my life but want so much more for the younger generation. Here's to God and thank you Niel Diamond for the best music ever. ❤️🙏❤️ Shalom
@@helenh493 What is an American? There is no such nation. You are all immigrants from other countries which contains real nations. I am an Afrikaner - my surname is unique to the Afrikaner nation and is not shared by any other. Except for the native American nations (the REAL Americans) can you name ONE unique "American" surname?
Born in 1966... Grew up listening to the original Hot August Night double album on our record player at home... The "Tree People"... Fifty eight and Neil Diamond remains my number one... 🇿🇦
I just found out he will no longer tour due to parkinson's disease and that his mother just passed away at 100. I have listening to this man since the 60's when I was a kid. I love it. I would drive or fly anywhere to see and hear him live one more time. He is the embodiment of American music.
He will always be the best!!! I fell for him in the middle 60s, and I’ve seen him in concert a number of times. He is absolutely awesome, and yes, he is a beautiful man! God bless him!
My grandmother sadly passed from Parkinson's in like 1978. It has come a long way since then I am sure . May Neil Diamond live long and a happy, healthy life .
I'm only a 16 year old guy and I think this song is just awesome. He really is a great singer/songwriter. I don't get how anyone could not appreciate his voice. The guy has legit talent.
RIght on, Erick. I'm 68, and Neil was the first pop singer I liked, the first album I bought was Tap Root Manuscript, and Holly Holy was the first song I liked== One cannot outgrow Neil Diamond.
I am glad someone young like you can appreciate someone like Neil Diamond. He really is incredible. You might also like Art Garfunkel. His voice is awesome too. Not deep like Neil, but awesome.
As soon as he begins to sing, the richness and power in his voice just reach out and grab the strings of my heart and fill me with love and power at the same time.
Love to watch when the singer actually becomes the song this one portrays it with mag nificense-- getting sleepy --talk tomorrow -- enjoyed the evening -- loved the share
Actually Roger Daltrey comes to mine 80 years old no lip zinc no auto tune except one song I believe love reign o me one part is edited but it’s a very high note for rock and roll he’s all class by himself. Not saying as great as Neil Diamond voice is or was for many years different type of singer but both very recognizable
I was a big Neil Diamond fan from the very beginning in the 60s. My friends in the 70s sort of made fun of me and thought I was square. I didn't care. They all liked the hard rock bands of that time. I liked some of those bands too, but Neil Diamond held a special place in my heart, both then and now.
Ditto. I have seen ND in concert probably a dozen times, I lost count. I love Led Zeppelin, Leon Russell, etc from “back then”. But ND was always my go-to music.
@@trudyharding4277 absolutely agree, but they were still great and different from ND. My youth led me to love most ALL music. My dad was a huge music buff, I’m most sure the first time I heard ND over the AM radio station in my junior high gym class in 1968, I had to go home to ask him who sang that song I’d heard. I was in love with ND from that moment on.
He is a true National Treasure. SO many great songs. As a seventh grader I remember the song Cracklin Rose. Then Solitary Man, then I heard he wrote the Monkees I’m a Believer and Not your Stepping Stone. The dude has been great for over 50 years!
@@HypnosisFairy sorry, but no. It was written by a collaboration between Bob Russell and Bobby Scott. They were introduced to each other by Capitol Records co founder, Johnny Mercer.

Neil is master of the three chord pop song. In such simplicity Neil can convey a meaningful narrative combined with great melody. We need more people like Neil.
If I had to pick one artist to listen to the rest of my life I would pick Neil Diamond. I never get tired of listening to his music. I have been listening to him since his first record “ Solitary Man”. I’m 7 months older than he is. I have grown old with him and I have loved every note he has recorded over the years. I will till the day I die. There is no one alive who has those expressive eyes and face. His voice is beautiful beyond words. So distinctive and filled with passion. God blessed him with a wonderful talent. Thank you Lord. Thank you Neil for all the years of sharing your gift with us all.
You expressed my sentiments as well. I am recalling attending his concert at Red Rock in Colorado in that majestic natural outdoor wonder. Recalling so many memories of listening to him over the years makes me feel like crying; not sure why.
pure genius..even elvis acknowledged his greatness both were tremendously talented..but neil wrote composed these great songs and this is one of his best god bless him for his greatness. in music
My memories of this song in 1969 driving to my next duty assignment in the service with my new wife Kathy. We were driving a 1963 Mercury Monterey pulling a trailer loaded with everything we owned. to Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. This song played on the radio and I loved every minute. We were both nineteen ......so so young.
God bless you guys .... He's my favourite musician Got to known him when I was 10 years via LPs ... Turn tables my used to tyon on for us Magical how the years have flown and so much has changed but not our favorite music
38 years old and eternally grateful my father introduced me to this legend. People just don’t know what gifts he’s left people. Had the honor of seeing him twice!
Ain’t THAT The Truth!! My Dad did the same 😎 He & Mom dunked me in The Waters of many GREATS! Mr. Diamond is definitely on my Top 5 Of All Time List…and YOU got see him…TWICE!! WoW 🤩
@@beckyzarella6871 …Aaaah Becky!! See?? THAT is the way to do it! Did that with my 2 kids and am happy to say: they returned the Blessing as ALL 3 Grandkids (ages 9 Thru 15) are WAY familiar with this Icon and can - AND DO - sing 🎵 along 😎 💕
My dad always listened to neil, not a day went by without him! I didn't get his music when i was a kid/younger, but since yesterday i can't stop watching/listen to this song♥️
I know that it has been said many times before, but I want to say it now. Neil Diamond, you're a GREAT singer, and your Holly Holy is something that you would hear and feel as you moved through the infinite...it's beyond words. Thank you.
he always done, he always wants his audience to be empowered by Music, before he was even a pro singer And what a pity if he would not have had with those pipes and the +100% he delivers

How could people not like Neil Diamond. I’m 60 years old and he’s been my all time favorite since I was in junior high school. I hate he’s not able to tour any more. He’s awesome. Holly Holy is one of his best in my opinion.
Lokk up Hot August Night 1972, ya probably have it, Neil was gonna cancel because of a heavy cold, what happened was the best performance of Holly Holy ever heard, his voice was even better with the cold lol
I saw him in California during the making of Hot August night…album. My God this man is amazing. He even said hello to the tree people… the ones who climbed the trees outside the arena… a once in a lifetime ! Blessed beyond …. Love you Neil. Forever man….
I grew up with Carole King Carly Simon Cat Stevens Gordon Lightfoot and absolute Neil Diamond fan and when I listen to him and this song it brings me back to my 7th grade year in junior high hanging out with my buddy just playing kickball at his dad's friend's yard and listening to this whole Neil Diamond album which was a masterpiece Neil Diamond is one of the true absolute outrageously best musicians and songwriter that I've ever seen in my life and he's in great company as I listed previously
I’ve been listening to some Barbra Streisand and now Neil Diamond because it reminds me of happier times when we all listened to the same music on the radio and had a sense of community. So many people were so excited and proud when Coming to America was a huge hit. Now look at us. So sad what’s happened to our society.
Watching Neil Diamond perform live looking through the trees at the Greek Theater the night Hot August Night was recorded will forever be etched in my mind and soul. A truly musically historical evening under the stars. We didn’t have tickets but at the Greek Theater in Griffith Park the beautiful trees surrounding the theater created a chance for some youngsters climb just enough to see what became history. Thank you Neil for a lifetime of beautiful noise ..
My brother and sister in law were there that night too. I was fortunate to see Neil perform the same show a month later in San Francisco. It remains a highlight in my life as I also live with Parkinson Disease.
8/9/24 and it's my 72nd birthday today. This guy was/is a part of my growing up in the greatest time for popular music! Proud to say that we Boomers had the best variety of music to enjoy while we matured! Prove me wrong!
- god bless neil for the feelings expressed in his music . Penny , my wife of 56 years passed away july 23, 18. I shed tears but also smiles of joy remembering the good times. I listen to holly holy every night and think of her
I am sure your Wife, your soulmate, your partner is watching over you and glowing in the love you still feel and allow others to feel. My deepest condolences and prayers.
My mother absolutely loved Neil Diamond I remember going to See The Movie The Jazz Singer with me my mom and dad by the end that movie we all were in tears! I was 10 when that movie came out 54 years later I will never forget that memory! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Niel Diamond was always on the radio when I was a kid. Shilo was such a great song. They don't have songs like that anymore. I'm grateful for this man and his music. Much love and peace.
I had the pleasure of seeing him 3 times with my soulmate. She passed away 4 years ago. She absolutely loved him. So do I . He puts on one hell of a show

Jeanette I did that. I picked Neil and listened to him my whole life. 65 years so far. And still listening. Of course I listen to other singers but none like Neil.
