The town Neil wrote about is Omemee - population just over 1,000 now and just down the road from my home. It's a small, quiet town with nothing big or bad happening. Neil's father lived just outside of town. Thanks for bringing back great musical memories Tash!
Thanks for some Neil Tash, actually Neil was born in Ontario, but he grew up in my hometown, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Two of my favourites of his are “ Old Man “ and “ Heart of Gold “.
There have been different interpretations. I remember reading a comment at one time where someone had read his biography and in the book he had said the song was about the small town (pop 200) that they moved to when he was a young child and it was in that town that he contracted polio that partially paralyzed him for a time. This probably contributed strongly to his feelings about this town.
His civil rights and anti-war songs are his best. Like Ohio,The needle and the damage done, etc. Still rockin' in the free world, still has the heart of gold. Neil Young Joni Mitchell, and Buffy Ste. Marie, were and still are champions of peace, unity of all people, and speak for the natural world.
Hello again from Canada. Neil Young has a huge catalogue of material for your listening pleasure. He covers so many different genres of music. He's known as The Godfather of grunge. More Neil Young please as well as Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Blue Rodeo,. The Tragically Hip and the list will grow. and please get into one of the best bands in the world, a little three piece band by the name of Rush. You like Bob and Doug McKenzie so you should check out the collaboration a Bob and Doug and Geddy Lee of Rush. Take off to the great white North take off it's a beauty way to go. Welcome to the rabbit hole of Canadian music. I hope you enjoy it as much as we all have. Sorry, no Justin Bieber. We're all still really embarrassed about that. LOL. Cheers in Canada.🍻🇨🇦
He always rocked out, try Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere from 1969. I actually think A man needs a maid is one of his all time worst songs, but hey no accounting for different tastes is there ?
@AussieTashEnt Here's one more Neil young you should hear ... Harvest Moon. I really hope you get a chance to hear it as I'd love the see you react to it. This makes me nostalgic for warm summer nights long ago when I was so much younger. If you watch it, I really hope love it as much as I do. My favorite Neil Young song. Love your channel.... Cheers! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n2MtEsrcTTs.html
I'll have to confirm Sid's response of "Omemee". I live down the highway from Omemee and Neil's father lived just outside of town. Before Scott Young passed away there would be an occasional "Neil" sighting around.
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN His acoustic music is not wimpy crap, a real fan appreciates all his styles as I do, well perhaps not when he went AWOL during the 80's, otherwise it's all great
