Saw the GREAT ones: Led Zeppelin, The Who, Santana, CSNY, ELP, James Gang, The Allman Brothers Band,--this is the BEST jam I've ever heard...rock on brothers!!
Best version I've ever heard of this song. Epic is the word. Neil brings so much feeling and evocation to this song. As usual sparse on words and long winding solos. Neil is rocking and all is good!
Late to the conversation, but Young does an even better version with Booker T and the MG's (famous for "Green Onions", 60"s, maybe?) with his ex wife and sister on vocals. Only the 10.54 minute version, though. That performance immediately elevated Young into the top 20 guitarist conversation. The drummer is nuts.
Neil is one of the few who could do one of the most important rock songs ever, justice. Im in total awe of both Neil and Pearl Jam after watching this.
I saw Neil do this as an encore in '94, I believe. Incredible, so much energy coming out of the performance it could have powered a city. Neil was a force of nature that day.
Uniqueness has its reward and no one in todays music scene is more unique than Neil Young. He hasn't changed since his roots back in Buffalo Springfield. This guy is unchanged in over 50 years, that to me is beyond the test of time and is just as hard at it now as he's ever been. The guy is 70 and going strong, keep on rockin Neil with you around its gonna be a free world.
I was at this show and was woefully unprepared for a Neil Young + Pearl Jam 45 minute encore. Fuuuuuck. At the Sports Arena in Toledo OH of all places. Maybe a capacity of 3-4,000? Brilliant show, amazing surprise.
There is no way to give more likes to this song! Wow, what a fusion between the new generations and those of before ... a long life to rock music! One of Bob Dylan's artworks
great version. Love Neil Young I used to see him play live every Friday night at the Rock Pile in Toronto in the late 60's as the house band. Loved him since Buffalo Springfield
Wow! Seldom does one see a group of musicians feed off another with such a positive result. 8:04 mins of absolute joy for me as a listner. Thanks for posting Felix.
Getting two vocalist singing i unison in a "jam session" like this, is clearly not so easy. But i doesn't matter! Because this a F-ing great live jam! Look at Neil Young! Doesn't give flying F. Starting the whole thing with a double guitar solo. "F the stage time and F everything, we're gonna rock this one out boys!" What a man.
The song is The combination of a balm mixed with fire Neil Young was in such a zone that he was on a Magic carpet as he was playing that absolute Incredible riff
What a great tune .NY and Pearl Jam were great when they were together. Best I ever witnessed was Dublin 95 .The concert was filmed and recorded professionally so one day we might get to experience them again
NY knows how to pick hard rock acts that are capable of meeting his standards and expectations. Crazy Horse, Pearl Jam and Promise of the Real are the real deal . In addition, he picks a bunch of different but equally talented band / soul mates for his folk / acoustic albums
I say"Neil Young for President"... No matter what he does he kills it n keeps it real! 💥He stands for everything that's righteous since his beginning. Ohio, Southern man, Native Americans, the pipelines, Human rights n while others talk about it, he sings about it n keeps it in the spotlight n that my friends are how it gets fixed. "This notes for you" says it best! He's stays true to himself! What you see is what you get. 💥He's sets the stage on fire!
This song makes me feel so good. It is a Unforgettable moment of guitar 🎸 glory. Neil Young put out a masterpiece. I wish people would not close their hearts and ears to music picassos... On top Of it all Eddie Vedder Accompanied himWithout missing a beat. Is 2 masters at work
Cool as hell post, i wasnt much of a pearl jam fan though they had a few tunes i liked but this with one of my favorite guitarists doing this song justice is killer
Thanks for sharing this great version of this Dylan tune. I've always liked Neil's versions of this song. The FarmAid version with Crazy Horse is killer also.
However both Crazy Horse and Promise of the Real have honed their skills at performing in a cluster within TWO yards of him without a mishap yet. Brings out the best in Neil.....
