What a fantastic lady Hylda Baker was. A true master of the spoken word. You just don’t see talent like this now. A time when we were truly entertained by people who were truly talented. ❤️ 29/10/20
Gosh! I've watched all my DVDs of all the eight seasons of this 'classic' comedy - and the movie this clip is taken from so many times, I know all the scripts by heart, yet still find them funny and laugh out loud... What modern comedies can do that? Great stuff! God Bless Hylda Baker!
Isn't Madge Hindle good as Lily too? She was Alf Robert's wife,Renee in Coronation St,she wore big glasses like Deidre, she was killed off in a car crash in 1980.
Wasn't this clip from the movie version of Nearest & Dearest, I'm sure I've got it somewhere. I have the whole series of the show, including the spin off series Not on Your Nellie. Hylda was hilarious in both, the Mistress of Verbal Dyslexia. Brilliant Stuff. r.i.p. Hylda.
Don't You Mean SEVEN series...? I love this, it was my mum (gawd bless her) who got me into the series when she watched it on the then GRANADA + channel on cable/sat. Sitcoms Are now Dead These Days.....!!! It's the fault of being PC...!!
