My dad introduced me to Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. Wonderful songs and movies. The movies were too much for my older brothers......they checked out as they couldn't stand it anymore. So their favourite little sister and daddy were quite happy to see their movies for the 20th (!) time or so....... Our beloved mother typically read the newspaper as she has seen those movies 40 or more times. Oh those happy days!
What great singing. What a blend! What a match! I have a special connection with " The Student Prince because it was the last opera/operetta I sang chorus in - 1995 with Summer Opera Theatre Company. And I was in love with operetta as a kid and teenager, long before I was in love with opera. Altogether I sang chorus in 32 operas and operettas in Maryland and D.C. between 1982 and 1995 - and loved every single minute of it.

This video brought tears to my eyes with the gorgeous and stunning colorized photos of Nels and Jenny by Patsy (thanks so much Patsy) and the theme of the song: reminiscing about youth and carefree, happy days. Fall being my favorite season, I just love the golden tones of the autumnal sceneries. All the images are just breathtakingly beautiful! You can just see the love between our 2 darlings and you feel like you are along with them in remembering with sentimental fondness the happy moments that they had together.
