Knock it off with the perpetual things were always better before now crap. Things must've been amazingly idyllic in barbarian times if you believe the unbroken generational chain of belief in a Utopian near past.
You know it’s very strange, I actually met him down south I suppose on one of his visits. Of course I was only a small child. But I do remember him with that camera and my parents thought he was so strange... I thought he was absolutely fabulous!!!! He was so very kind and sweet and he liked kids 😊🌹and it’s so ironic that now as an adult I just recently found these videos on RU-vid. The reason I watched the first was because I was drawn to the fact that it was from the 80s my favorite childhood times... and then as I saw him I realized there was a strange familiarity about him.... then it hit me 😱 I met this man.... brewed yet stuck with me my whole life.
I love how Nelson stops singing during Nearer My God to Thee, whether it was because he forgot the lyrics or some other reason, and he just sits there smiling and listening to his aunt sing. She had a lovely voice, and it's so special and beautiful that moment was captured forever for us to all listen to.
It’s because of these people in his hometown that he’s so very polite & sweet . Never discount your roots when they are this rich . New York’s all good & well but this lady and her kind are the fabric of who he is .that everyone likes ....& is apparent in his videos .... thanks aunt Nancy I’d say & his family
How wonderful. I found myself singing along to Let the Sunshine In. Nelson looks like a yoing Gene Wilder. Thanks for sharing another great moment. Much Love.
Blessings on Nelson and His Family !! He was taken from us way too soon !! He really made it possible to see the History of gay America !! Rest Peacefully !! Luv Ya !!!
Thanks again for sharing this. Seeing Nelson's gentle spirit with Nancy mixed with his teasing Dick is great fun. And when he realizes he doesn't know a lot of the words to various songs - it cracks me up. These are such lovely, soothing videos.
Love them together. Nelson must have been so special to aunt nancy. I wonder if she was still alive when nelson passed on and if so how terrible it must have been for her. They looked like they were very close. I wish i would have known Nelson ...
This is so sweet! He reminds me of my grandma and I... singing hymns. I just found out about him, would have loved to have known him. Funny question... he wasn’t raised or around seventh Day Adventist was he? Just wondering, cuz even though that B-I-B-L-E song was sang in some churches, it’s an older song and I think it was originally in the SDA Church! I don’t know many people (even Christians) that know that song.... (same w let the sunshine in) I was raised in an Old Testament SDA home 🤦♀️ lol Flashbacks! Thanks for sharing this. 💗
Born in ‘87 and was bought up in Alabama, in Baptist and Pentecostal churches. That song was universal in Christian churches. I believe it’s still sung in many churches at least in the south still.
@@joshuamarsh7098 yeah maybe it is a southern thing or just old school churches (like little house on the prarie like I went to as a kid where everyone seemed to be in their 80’s lol ) the modern churches here didn’t sing those songs as far as I know... 🤷🏻♀️🧐 thanks for letting me know :)
I have not missed one of 5inthavenueproject videos have watch all of them. The best ones are with nelson in them. He was more interesting and. A great soul . You could see in his videos, he was great to all of his acquaintences and it shocks me that rupaul was in a lot of his videos and probably gave him the start and rupaul never mentions this great personNelson sullivan. Shocking;
I believe it was Dick Richards, a contemporary of Nelson's who was engaged in cable-TV enterprises in Atlanta and appears in several of Nelson's videos. He is now dead.
