Great review. The first time anyone has ever mentioned the noise of the pads. Thanks for the info.

I have one I used on the AT in 2023. It was the most comfortable pad I have used. Nemo only backs it up if you bought it brand new through one of their vendors. I called Nemo to see if they would honor my Tensor if I were to need help. They seemed to indicate they wouldn't but would send me a repair kit if I needed one. Mine was bought off eBay from a pawn shop in brand-new condition for half the cost. I was impressed by how comfortable the 25" wide was, and I liked the 4.2 R-value when I was in the Great Smokies with a 20-degree bag on the AT. Definitely use a Tyvek ground sheet with it in a shelter or under the tent.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's awesome that the Nemo Tensor worked well for you on the AT. Using a Tyvek ground sheet is a smart idea. Was the Tyvek cut to the size of your sleeping pad or the entire tent?

I'm a hammock camper but am doing a trek that requires tents so I picked one of these up since they were 40% off during REI's anniversary sale. I had previously tested a Big Agnes Rapide which was actually pretty comfortable, but it was the 20" x 66" version and I needed something a bit larger. The regular wide tensor is wider, longer, and still actually weighs a bit les that the Rapide I tested. Not quite as thick though. The Nemo has passed the living room floor test. Here's hoping it does as well in the back country.

I just bought an Outdoor Vitals Ultra Light Regular sleeping pad, it's 72" by 22" by 3.5" thick. It does not make any noise at all and is very comfortable. It weighs 20.7 oz including the inflation bag. It is insulated and has an R value of approximately 4.2, good down to about freezing. It is on sale for $59.99. I believe the Nemo Tensor is approximately $269.00.

Sounds like a nice pad I hear Outdoor Vitals makes some good gear.

I have that pad and been using it well over a year. So far it is still holding up and no leaks just yet. That is with camping with my dog as well as my three year old laying on it while watching his tablet. The biggest issue is that you need to be careful with the pad because of how light and thin it is. Sometimes you might get lucky and get a way more stronger pad than someone else or you might get one with some flaws in it. But the lifetime warranty means you just buy once and cry once.

That's awesome to hear about the durability of your pad, especially with a dog and a three-year-old in the mix!

Thank you! We are currently using the Nemo Fillo (we have a review on them as well). They slide into a pocket on the Tempo sleeping bag so they don’t slide around.

I have been considering the x-mid 2p Solid tent and wondered how a couple of 25" pads would fit. Looks pretty tight. Were you comfortable or would you advise looking for a wider tent?
@ExploreTrekAdventure
@ExploreTrekAdventure 9 месяцев назад
Two 25” pads goes edge to edge in width but you still have a bit more room at the top and bottom. You do have huge vestibules to store gear if needed.

I owned the Tensor alpine and I sold it; it was warm only down to about 20 degrees F and while very comfortable is very heavy for a cold pad. I ended up buying an Xtherm for winter that I have been toasty down to 10 degrees and an x-light for summer and early fall. both pads weigh significantly less. If you dont care about warmth or weight it really is a very comfortable pad.

Interesting. We have not tried the alpine version.

I camp and backpack often and I used this pad for 2 years (both the R3.5 and the R4.2 versions). This pad is very fragile and between the two versions I've had mine have had holes/leaks in them 4 times. I have given up on this pad because it is just too unreliable. Now I am switching to the REI Helix pad which is warmer at R4.9, less expensive, and made from a more robust material. Hopefully this one will work for me for the coming year.

The Tensor is definitely made from thinner material. Funny you mention the REI Helix pad, we just reviewed it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2cf2DTGSmZI.html

Are both the top and bottom sides the same where you can sleep on either side and it won't be a problem?
@ExploreTrekAdventure
@ExploreTrekAdventure 10 месяцев назад
The bottom is black but appears to be very similar material. I suppose you could sleep on it backwards but would be a good question for Nemo Support.

Dont see this on the Nemo site. Do they still make it or has it changed? I see the Tensor All Season UL being r5.4, I see the Tensor Extreme UL being r8.5, the Tensor Trail being r2.8
@ExploreTrekAdventure
@ExploreTrekAdventure 5 месяцев назад
Nemo did a huge change up with the sleeping pads. The All Season would be the most similar to the old pad. I wouldn’t go with the 2.8 unless it will be a dedicated warm weather only pad.

Nemo makes the worst gear in the industry and do not honour their warranty.
@ExploreTrekAdventure
@ExploreTrekAdventure 10 месяцев назад
We have had the exact opposite experience with Nemo. We had to submit a warranty claim on a sleeping bag and they were super fast to respond to the ticket and send out the replacement.
@ryanb3908
@ryanb3908 10 месяцев назад
@@ExploreTrekAdventure That is very rare. Lots of videos on RU-vid proving how terrible their warranty service and met lots of thruhikers on longtrails that were fighting Nemo for months to get a replacement for their never ending leaky pads. Also they don't warranty zippers or leaks for their tents which always fail.
