First I would like to thank you again and again, I enjoy more than watching a thriller movie while you do the work done bcuz dimension are very small and detailed. And I think it will be a very good idea to have your online store and sell the DIY kits. most of people can't find the right tools and stuff or all at same place. If you think this is a good idea I'll be more than happy to make you one.

I really find your foil speaker content facinating... however I'm 67 years old and not 14- So I guess I don't rule You Tube even if I watch it 18 hours a day many days. Thank you for these experiments. My Carver Platinum ALS speakers have 6 foot ribbon tweeters and the quality of the music they emit is fucking amazing!!

Well i dont have an age restriction beside 18+ but most viewers are 30-40 and 50-70 yes thats what youtube says. So above 25 i would say :)

efficiensy and sensitivity has a lot to say how fast the driver can stop and start combined with mass.if a driver is 88db efficent pr watt pr 1m will have to use twice the power to give the same db as a 90 db driver.Mine is together 2 drivers pr ch around 96db pr 1 m 1 w and act like a resistor for the amp.a "perfect"load.Sensitivity on the apoogee copys we made was around 89db and hefty amp was needed

An outstanding FR! It can be stitched with ANY mid range driver easily. I can buy a same for at least 150 euros, and even for such money I won't get a low end as low.

my amt tweeter section 20 inch high membrane togheter in parralell gives me 4 ohm no impedance transformer needed in them.

Amt uses a prinsip from the insect world.small folded mebrane it moves like on a accordion. How tick is the kapton film u are using?

Its not kspron film but polyesther 12 micron thick

@@joppepeelen Polyester? Does it handle heat well.polyester is posible to stretch?Kapton film is widely used on coil and planars.mylar is used on many electrostats.Never heard Polyester been used.Can you give me an example or link to one that uses polyester film.

@@leohobbleohobb3781 it does not like heat, but if you look at temps, kapton is better but not by all that much :) like it is not possible to like crank it up waaay much higher. also kapton is hard if not impossible to get in thniner foils or hard without sticky backing :( and not at all as laminate by a person like me

@@joppepeelen Oven foil or bags for roasting made of/with capton.mylar is also a option.have the stax lamda signature mk2 made around 1992.their top model at the time.it used a mylar diagram the thinnest they have ever used.around 1000 times thinner than the human eardrum weigh around the same as the air in the space it occupy.they still play as new.gave the stax amplfiere a upgrade with a smd based attenuator with wishay dale resistors 21 step with the volum scale a wanted instead of the carbon trace based ok pot it came with way back.But always interesting with new materials. Suspension on a push pull planar magnetic that better helps with cooling and keeps the tension the uniform and the same and be able to play good down to 200-300hz.Had some planar speaker and my last project is active thin film speakers with a 12 inch woofer.it plays very good

Hoi Joppe, interessant project. Zelf heb ik ook planar tweeters van Raidho in een diy project van Troels Gravesen. Echter Raidho stelt zijn planar's niet meer ter beschikking voor de diy. Ik ben nog wel benieuwd naar de hor. en vert. spreiding.

Beter als die van raidho :) die zijn nog groter. Althans dat zijn die met dat zigzag patroon toch ? Ik heb nog wel wat dikke magneten liggen, kan weleens soortgelijke tweeter maken. Zij stuk efficiënter dam deze vermoed ;)

Sorry, but why you do not explain how to make the diaphragm? It is made using cutting machine or by etching like a pcb? Can you show us the process? thank you.

i've shown it 100 times i think, so that might be the reason. look for neo v10 in my channel and there should be a few with the ethcing proces. i used a xeros 8500 Phaser solid ink printer. before you ask :) good luck !

it is a corugator, or sometimes called crimper :) you can find them in hobby shops

why not fold it much more like a amt type thin film driver.You get higher sensitivity.folds should be under a1 mm deep and a 1 neodym rod magnet on the sides so it push the air out 4 times more than the membran movement moves.very efficesnt.the 1mm deep is to get a reach up to 35000hz they give a grat sound better than flat planars.have done planars and has a project know up and playing.i copied the appogee duetta? in the 80s.Keep up.low mass and fast start and stop times.my amt sectiion is 2 different sizes one 3 times 2 inch.a loose ribbon is geat but has draw backs that the amts dont have

Yeah high sens is true. Keeping pleat depth smaller then 1mm wont go verry low and will remain only a tweeter :( you can easily make it 5 mm deep. Since i only interested in the frequency range i can hear. Nice you are on the diy as well !

the smalles diagram on my thinfil is 12.6 cm2 when not folded it is a 6cm high and 4 cm wide with a neodym barmagnet on each side gives me a uable range from 2500hz to 30000.The point of having a tweeter go up to 30khz is it plays better in the range you hear.distortion is not" there" compared to a conventional tweeter witch distort all the time and gets progressive worce as volum goes up.Thin film are typical clean all the way upp to their limit but brake over the limit and a auible shcriiking type distortion is heard.Nr 2 in my tweeter section can play from 900 and up to 18khz has a diagram with sd total of 55cm2 when folded fits in a gap 6 cm wide with a bar magnet on each side 17cm high.with chassi 20cm high.the folds are deeper and but spacing between them is almost the same.build my own poweramps.1 pr driver section.in a 3 way setup with conventional 12 inch bms woofers s330 ferrit magnet verson 10kg each you nedd 3 mono amps pr side and a active dsp conntrolled filter.have a 1 order passive filter where the second smallest tweetwer comes in around 2000hz.Keep it up.Real nice to see thinfilm work.

@@joppepeelen how low do you want it to play.It is not a large diagram you have.typical tweeter size i would say it looks like.you cant ecpect it to play lower than 1700hz.A air motion transformer does plays lower than a planar do to you can fit a larger diagram and spacing is no problem cause the magnets is on each side of the diagram it dont flex towards and back from you.it work sideways

Leo i know yoy mean well. But i know all of this since i made amts before as i said. And made even a video about it. And participated in the long long thread on diyaudio.com about diy amts. But you dont need pleat dept smaller then 1mm. If you want to go low it needs to be deeper. To get resonace down. By the way no commercial one does smaller then 2-3 mm either that i know of. Maybe we dont talk about the same thing?. Pleat dept is the depth of the fold not the width. Since that is usually 1mm or less depending on the x max side ways excursion. So dept os when you look to the front of the tweeter theb how deep is one of these folds

@@joppepeelen.I could hear in the video that you had knoledge on this.the depth is like you say if mesured from top of one fold to the bottom of the next.so my smallest is 2 mm total fold depth.but when i start to fold it in a jig i have a flat sheet that i fiold one mm one way.when i fold the next it has to go past the senter and 1 mm the other way and it gets a total depth off 2.you can by finished diagram from parts express made by mundorf germany.in 80s we used kapton film and household alu foil glass table and water/glue sharp knife and cut out the traces and laid it on top of kapton film with glue.Know with printers.also etching.one problem was low ohm as you know.vapor deposition type printers or some technique is used.and ohm is higher.i got i bit eager.sorry about that
