🎥 An in-depth review of one of my favorite paddles, the Neonic Flow. Enjoy!
❗️ One correction to the video I can't change..:
• 5.5" handle, not 5.0". Feels plenty long. (:

This paddle immediately elevated my game. The longer handle makes it very easy to handle and maneuver. The dwell time and control is excellent. I feel much more in tune with my game with this paddle

Nice review! I enjoyed the shots of you actually playing with the paddle as well. I just ordered the Neonic Force but am thinking about swapping it for the Flow. I'm coming from the Prism Flash which has served me well but wanted a proper Gen2 thermoformed paddle.

Hey thank you, I appreciate that feedback! I'll be very interested to hear what you think about the transition from the flash to the Force and if you like the added pop or not!

See the FLOW is on back order. Looking for a paddle with the "feel" of the LUXX, but not with a paint grit face.

According to the specs on their page and in the John Kew paddle database, the grip length is 5.5", not 5"

How would the Flow compare to the regular SixZero DBD 14mm in terms of power, pop, control, and spin?

Thank you very much! What do you think of the Force?? Haha yes, I have more work backed up than I should, but the Mark Pickleball paddles are certainly one of the ones in the lineup in most edited about, for both the carbon fiber and Kevlar versions

Nice review. I switched over from an alw-c 12.7 mm to this paddle. I felt like for my game, i needed more control than power. This paddle has changed my game as i now have a soft game that i didn’t have before. Resets and dinks are amazing. Dips on drives are good too. I tried the lead tape right at the neck and it seemed head heavy. My paddle was 8.2 stock. Was yours the same weight?

That's awesome, I'm glad to hear we've had a similar experience with the Flow! I'm not sure what the exact weight on mine is, but I should check... I'll weigh it tonight and let you know!

I'm looking for an inexpensive hybrid paddle. You briefly mentioned the Mark paddles in this review. Will you be posting a review? I'm specifically interested in the Mark Pure vs. The Neonic Flow.
@PickleballMedicine
@PickleballMedicine 5 месяцев назад
Yes, I believe I will! They are some really good paddles at a pretty awesome price, too, but play a bit different than the flow. You probably wouldn't go wrong either way, but the Flow will have a more plush feel and better for control, while the Mark Pure will hit a bit harder and also has a 14mm option, so leans more on the all-court side of the spectrum, with the Mark Kinetic hitting a bit more hard than all three.

Is there a risk of delamination with the Flow similar to the other Thermoformed paddles like the Vatic Pro Flash?
@PickleballMedicine
@PickleballMedicine 4 месяца назад
I think that's a good question if you want a cold-cut, straightforward answer... yes, there is always going to be a risk of delamintlation with ANY thermoformed paddle. If anyone tells you anything else about any thermoformed paddle, it's just not true. But I think the follow-up question is, how big is the risk? From my personal experience at this point, what I can say is that it does seem like that in large part, the highest risk for delamination (ie core crushing, disbonding) is much higher for paddles that are more powerful or known for hitting extremely hard, and some brands are still pretty notorious for it. At least anicdotally speaking, and based on my online research, paddles that tend to be more control-oriented seem to carry less apparent risk of delamination. I would guess that this is the case with the Flow... but that's just my take!

Could you please compare this and the mark pure to the Legacy. Thanks for your help
@PickleballMedicine
@PickleballMedicine 5 месяцев назад
Yes, sure thing! I have and like both of those other two as well, but for different reasons. Compared to the pure, the Flow has more pop and is certainly more plush feeling with easier control. The pure has more power though, and while the Flow is between control and all-court status, the pure is more firmly in the all-court category. The Legacy is one of the most poppy and hard hitting paddles there is, so it will have much higher pop and power than the flow, but Is much more hard to control. The Flow Excells at control. Both the Legacy and Flow have great spin, too. The feel of each of their faces is kinda similar, interestingly, as they both feel kinda plush and have a tramploine-like effect when hitting the ball.

Any experience with the Mach 1 Forza compared to Flow?? Assuming 16mm
@PickleballMedicine
@PickleballMedicine 5 месяцев назад
Yes I've played with both of those... both good control paddles for sure. As far as simularities, spin is high for both and both are relatively lighter feeling paddles. The M1F is elongated, so even though it has rounded top corners, it has a touch more reach. The face of the M1F is a little more stiff feeling than the Flows more plush feeling face, and the Flow has a bit more of a trampoline-type effect when you hit it compared to the M1F's more rigid feel. I also feel the Flow also has a larger sweet spot and definitely has a more healthy level of pop.

How does it compare to the Double black Diamond? More/less power? More/less control?
@PickleballMedicine
@PickleballMedicine 5 месяцев назад
I think the biggest different in comparison is the pop... the Flow has a bit better pop than the DBD, which probably does make the DBD a little easier to control on routine shots for most people, but i found the level of pop the Flow has to be helpful to scoop up shots from difficult positions easier. they both have comparable power when swinging bigger, and maybe the DBD might have a slight edge there, but its pretty marginal.

Thanks for the review! I don’t think the infinity DBD has that high of a swing weight. I think you maybe meant the Ruby.
@PickleballMedicine
@PickleballMedicine 5 месяцев назад
Hey thank you, I hope you enjoyed it! I haven't measured the Ruby I have on hand myself, but I have measured the Infinity Double Black Diamond I have, and that was the swing weight I measured... which I will say, felt pretty accurate when playing with it. I will also say its on my short list of favorite paddles as well, even above the Ruby and original DBD, so its definitely not meant as a knock on the paddle! It's possible that I got a heavier one than some of the other reviewers or customers, though, as I've noticed some huge variation in measured and reported swing weights from reviewer to reviewer and on company websites, which is why I also measured them myself, haha. Some paddles go up a lot in swing weight with gross weight increase and others don't as much, just depends on the design of the paddle and where the weight tends to sit, but I've had some on hand that have varied 10 points from the exact same paddle in different weights, haha.

@PickleballMedicine
@PickleballMedicine 5 месяцев назад
Haha you're telling me!! I played in a tough tournament a little bit ago, where several of the players were better than me, honestly, and I found I didn't have the soft game where I needed it to be to be playing with the Pursuit Pro, as much as i enjoyed it. Since then I've been changing around a bit, trying to find something I can have control, but being a bit sad to sacrifice pop... and I feel like I finally found the perfect one for what I need with the Flow! Super happy about it, haha.
@hecizzy1
@hecizzy1 5 месяцев назад
@@PickleballMedicine thank you for this honest response. It might make me re think also if I should use the pursuit pro as my main because before I was so confident and effective with my 3rd shot drops and now I can’t get them in consistently even though having so much pop and power is fun not sure if it’s worth it.
@PickleballMedicine
@PickleballMedicine 5 месяцев назад
Sounds like we are/were in a similar position! Going from a power paddle to a control paddle has its pros and cons... ideally you can find a paddle that has the right balance for you so you don't have to totally sacrifice one or the other!
@hecizzy1
@hecizzy1 5 месяцев назад
That’s what I’m looking for next. Lowering down the power/pop but not all the way back to my former Ronbus R1 pulsar. Huarache X seems somewhere in between might check that out. If you have recommendations let me know.

@PickleballMedicine
@PickleballMedicine 5 месяцев назад
But why is too many a bad thing...? Would you rather have too few...? If the answer is neither, then what is "just enough"? Competition can drive price down and innovation up, as seen with this paddle. Not sure I see a downside here,.but happy to hear your perspective!

I do enjoy the trial period! It's basically like paying a small amount to demo a paddle, if you think of it like that.
