We get asked about the tightness of the gravel guards, and we did design them that way intentionally. Here is Nick giving some info on the neoprene gravel guards found on the Primo and S14 model waders. A note on the lace hook - some boots have a lace hook attachment near where the gravel guard sits naturally, and some boots do not. We recommend using that lace hook only if your boots have it in a position that is close to the bottom of the gravel guard. If the lace hook attachment is far down towards the toe or is not present on your boots we do not recommend trying to stretch the lace hook way out to the end of the laces, as it can put heavy pressure on the gravel guard, ankle of the wader and tear out the laces on your boot. Just tuck the lace hook up and inside the gravel guard, and the tightness of the gravel guard will keep it in place and keep sand and gravel out of your boots. Happy fishing!
