A lot Neptune's early designs remind me of Uzume/Orange Heart. It's a personal theory of mine that Tsunako wanted the "Uzume" character (or at the very least a red-haired goddess) for a long time and finally got the chance with V-II. It's interesting how most of the characters went through such big changes, but they knew what they wanted to do with Vert from the start. Heck, the most they played around with concept of the character from what I could see in my personal glimpses of the art book was Victory/rebirth 3 where one concept design for Vert has her being a young girl. I personally would have like if the Ultra dimension goddesses looked at lot more different from their Hyper dimension selves, which seemed to be the case in the early stages.
I think that would have been an awesome idea if they really went all out in changing the goddesses looks in their ultradimension versions! I can definitely see what you mean with early Neptune, especially when her color scheme was mostly orange.
It would have bein much better if the Ultra CPUs wher more diffrent from ther Hyper Counterparts. A young, child like Vert could have bein realy intresting, especley when she then meets her Hyper Self. But sadly all we got are diffrent Outfits and SLIGHTLY diffrent personalaties. With Noire being more social, but also more arrogant, Blanc being even more aggresife than her Hyper self, and Vert being extremley coky. Oh...and all 3 frankly not being all that nice if im honest. Frankly without Plutia ore Neptune? They would hate each others guts. I atleast cant even remember if Ultra Noire and Ultra Blanc have even a single, civil conversation with ech other when Plutia wasnt ther to scare them.
I've always found the development history of the first two Neptunia Games really interesting. Seeing how the first game went from being themed around ancient mythology with Noire as the lead; to being themed around the gaming industry with Neptune as the lead is very fascinating. I personally like the pink haired, sidetails, odd eyes Rom and Ram designs the most. Be cool if Tsunako repurposed them for another project.
Well considering the concept of diffrent Dimensions is no unknown in the Neptuia world, they always could reyouse the older Designs for Paralel Dimension CPUs.
It acually would have made sense to turn Uni into a small Black Rock Shooter refrence with the Karakters looking so similiar, that could have resultet in legal issues.
I just found this channel and I like how this video explains and being funny at times. It is pretty interesting to see how all the characters are designed and how much effort it put into it. The uni one is my favorite one so far
Imagine if Compile Heart made another Dimension that our current Neptune, Compa, & IF got sent to and ran into these older design versions. Granted to differentiate between to two different versions, they probably would need new voices. Though I would like to imagine our Neptune taking a quick pic of the other HDD Purple Heart to send it to her world’s Noire only for her to freak out because how much she looks like a secret love child or something. Also did anyone notice that one of Uni’s designs had heel guns like Bayonetta? That particular one looks a lot like Black Rock Shooter. I honestly wouldn’t mind Compile Heart getting in touch with HUKE to make an official BRS as a CPU. Also look up White Rock Shooter the counterpart to BRS.
Ok so if gamindustri graveyard was place where the old was residing. There was another place like that. Let just call it gamindustri wasteland which is an island the size of leanbox. Located east of gamindustri before pc continent. This island is barren like the zero dimension and was inhibited by the exiles. Character concept that was 'rejected' by Compile heart and IFI. It is noted that the exiles was generally but not always. Hostile (more like passive-aggressive tbh) to the main cast. Villain or not.
All the older concepts seems to have morphed into one character or another. I have a theory, because we don't know where the Uranus possessor parts came from; it would've originated from the Original Neptune. The Robo-maid style seems to have become MK2- Present Histoire's outfit. Early Nepgear became Ultra Neptune. Early Purple Heart seems to have a mix of the Uranus and Orange Heart look, with one seeming to become Ultra Black Heart. Another early Purple Heart became White Sister Ram. 1:48 THIS is amazing. Would be cool if we see Uranus one day and its just a earley Neptune design. I mean TECHNICLEY Uranus is Neptuens older sister, same as Uzume, so it would make sense if Uranus looks like a inbetween of the two.
@@neptuneplaneptune3367 But here's the thing--Uranus was processor parts based on the Dreamcast. It would mean either it 'randomly not being Dreamcast based' or the existence of an Ultra Zero Dimension.
So yes, seems the drafing pays off as the early designs are worse than what we have now, meaning messing arround with the designs and plannning them out has made them better.
Months late but whatever. Better late than never I suppose. 6:16 - I kind of really doubt that's the reason why. I've personally always seen IF's early demonic designs as a reference towards "Neverland". "Neverland" is a surprisingly massive yet relatively unknown franchise from Idea Factory that spans all the way back to 1996 up until the last entry which released in 2012/2013. It mostly is made up of the "Spectral"(1) series and the "Generation of Chaos"(2) series, both of which consist of multiple entries each, along with a couple spin-offs like a fighting game called "Spectral vs Generation"(3) and a strategic card game called "Neverland Card Battles"(4). It being a fantasy series, there of course are a lot of fantasy-based designs. Including a lot of demonic ones like Hiro(5), who more or less is the mascot character of the series. But there are plenty more throughout the various entries. Even beyond that, there are a lot of details on IF that reference "Neverland" as well. White Heart is my favorite and Blanc's base design is awesome but I kinda wish she had an alternative costume in the games that's just MP Test Girl. One of the alternate re-colors already pretty much has the same colors but it's just a re-color.
Iam just gonna write what I think, Neptune was supposed to be Uzume I guess, but Iam glad they changed it to Sega Purple Colored. Compa's design is by far the cute/coolest I seen (especially with the headphone), too bad not much of it make it to the alternate costume. and Neptunia is supposed to be about three princess ? why is this isnt a spin-off game already ? I mean Neptune and friends were just commoners, and by the end she become the 4th princess. that would be cool I guess. I can Imagine that Neptunia was going to be Scifi Heavy themed, I mean look at planeptune, it make sense if the people living there dress 'scifi-heavy'
I really enjoyed watching this video! It was nice to see a lot of the early designs. Where exactly did you find the concept art, as I am having trouble finding it myself. I do not expect there to be a lot of concept art for MarvelousAQL, but Marvy is my favourite Maker, and I would love to see concept art of her!
2:13 Honestly disagree. Personally simple twin tails doest really fit her in my opinion, and it's still too "Noire" for my taste. Still, hair gradient is nice, maybe a design idea for a fusion? Anyways, I really like pre-final, prototype and the orange versions. As for Purple Heart, A stlye and Short Hair version.
The character designers made so many variations that everyone is sure to have their favorites! I can totally get not liking 2:13 it's more like Noire and Neptune's love child than it is Purple Heart
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if arfoire and her dragon form were scraps from the princess game. Would explain vert, blanc and noires scrapped HDD forms having those yellow reptile eyes. Just seemed weird for the creator of 4 girls that have mechanical forms to not have a similar form and just becomes a dragon. Her forms in mk2 make more sense but I still kinda wish she didn’t have a rabbit face. Honestly my favourite design is one of the black hair HDD form but story and character wise I’d choose face button nepgear.
you do know that you can use a gun in the original Neptunia ps3 game (The first one which I think is vastly underrated) and some, but not all, of these outfits were used as costumes in the first game

The game's characters and designs are wasted on such a weak game company, all their games have been nothing but shyte since day 1 even to this date 2021 almost.
@@satriadicky3732 They came up with some cool characters i wrote directly to the company's head in charge, and told them they should continue with these characters, as making new ones up when you've already reached a popular design will fail. So they took it to heart, continued with neptunia games for years, same cool characters, however what I didn't know is how bad they would be making sequels, I thought they were just getting started so given time they would get more skilled and better at making games. Boi was I wrong lol see understand now? Imagine Tri Ace the original team of Star ocean and Valkyrie profile games had the character designs of neptunia, now imagine action based rpg with star ocean 3 battle mechanics, now imagine how cool neptunia games could be.
@@satriadicky3732 lol actually that's a true story, they took my ideas in the letter i sent him, I had it translated in Japanese too just incase, and everything they did in the game that I told them to do came true, except how good the game mechanics are, they just improve so very little that everyone that plays the game get's blind sided by the cute characters shinanigens and cosplay stuff. The first time I played it was Hyper Dimension Neptunia on the ps3 the one where it was a mission to get all 4 Goddesses up in the end, but when you did it was satisfying the special moves the smooth graphics was cool, except the music was so bad in battles back then I mentioned how bad it was and they ampt it up see in all the latest games have much better music. Anything else you want to know?
