Fantastic panel ... Scott's own humbleness did not allow him to answer that last question fully so I'm glad Zach did the follow-up. I think Scott's longevity is tied directly to his sincerity, his kindness, and other "nontypical" Hollywood attributes as well as his amazing versatile acting (and singing) talents. He truly is a one-of-a-kind and I love all he does!
Scott is so funny, charming, witty and engaging. Full of movement and life. A very giving and genuine soul. Humble. So, he didn't win the Tony. He's had a long career with a loyal following. Look at that multi-generational audience. He's touched so many people with his work. He's done good. He's done very good. And, I just adore him.
i saw him at dragon-con in 2010, i think it was his first dragon-con. i was in the second row, it was great. he also did a quantum leap panel with dean stockwell that year, which was just as great, maybe even better.
Yes, it really did get better as it unfolded! I just saw Enterprise for the first time, myself. It had a different vibe than the other Star Treks, which I really enjoyed.
Personally....and I am 50...and grew up watching TOS in the 70s.....even now...after TNG, DS9 and Voyager....Enterprise is still my very favorite of all. I love the struggles of the beginning of something....fighting thru it....it was cut way too short.
If Quantum leap comes back, I hope Scott continues to play Sam. Why not? Sam doesn’t need to have an age requirement. Most of what made the show was Scott’s portrayal of his sweet, humble, gentle, caring heart with an awkward embarrassment in tight situations that we could all relate to. I don’t think anyone else could play him as well.
This was an excellent panel to watch, with interesting questions and answers. If I ever make it to a Nerd HQ I want it to be to see a Scott Bakula panel.

What a great guy. I don't get why people were bashing him for his role as Archer. I thought he was awsome. He is such a calm, confident and friendly personality that seems to really be in touch with himself and the rest of the world. That's why he reminded me of Patrick Stewart and I think he was a perfect fit for a Star Trek Captain. A Movie with the Enterprise Crew would be awsome. They at least deserve that much...
I loved watching Enterprise. I went through a very dark time, so dark I was inches from taking my life. But weirdly, watching Enterprise made me feel like I wasn't alone like I had these friends to turn too. I think Captain Archer was such a strong Captain with his storyline of early space culture, that he kept me going. "We're going to stumble, make mistakes... Instead of a Quantum Leap reboot they need to make a continuation series revival and bring Sam back home. That way they can continue it also with another leaper.
No remake of Quantum Leap! SAM needs to come home. Find a way to bring Sam HOME. Have his daughter bring him back. Yes I know at the end it says he never went home. Till this day it breaks my heart!
I loved Enterprise they are showing it again on the Horror Channel. It was my favourite Star Trek series I can't understand why it didn't get more of an audience and last longer. I thought the nerds would have loved it seeing all that famous technology and events in Star Trek come into being 😢. Archer is my favourite captain also he had to do much of the ground work for Star Fleet / The Federation.
I really love the idea of a new Quantum Leap series/movies where Al is short for a woman named "Allison" or something, and she is Sam's lover stuck in the future who can only be with him as a hologram. Or even better, this guy plays Sam's son or a later scientist who recreates the Quantum Leap experiment in search of his father (who disappeared decades ago). Also, all the people the new leaper leaps into would be cameos played by famous actors. Or maybe Al is Sam's daughter and the new leaper is a new character? Either way, the leaper would have to find Sam somewhere in time by the end of the story. And in my mind, Sam is now this wise, ancient kind of being who has been up and down the timestream and lived so many lives that he the wise teacher that helps the new Leaper get home or something. Either way, there are ideas that could be utilized.

There is a lot of stuff that happened since 1990 that a reboot would require a team of time travelers rather than just Sam, Al & Ziggy to undo some of the wrongs we've gone thru. Congrats on the Blues beating my Bruins tho.
Just saw the reboot of Quantum leap and Zach's idea at 25:10 for Al was spot on haha. They totally took his idea. Been binge watching QL on Peacock. The new one has been okay but the old has a charm to it. Hopefully the new one gets better.

Scott BacKula is worth saying good things about he is focused on real life situations and seems to know who he is and what he may be able to do or say to bring about some changes. He really is Sam and that is a good thing.
my fave episode of quantum leap is when Al and sam switiched places so Al was the leaper , the episode that most sticks is the one where he plays a horror writer and the devil appears to try and kill him because hes doing too much good but fails and theres the young steven king
We are on the cusp of a Quantum Leap follow up series .I can't wait to see what happens ,Im so sad that Dean Stockwell has passed away and can't be a part of it ,But maybe have whomever is going to be the star of the show somehow lock onto Sam and bring him home ,Or god , fate or whatever the force was leaping him around sends him home to help his child whom took over project quantum leap .

Just thinking about a Quantum Leap reboot. Personally I would hope that another series would keep the continuity of the original and not be a stand alone. Sam was leaping "...within his own lifetime" so between 1953 and 1995 when he started leaping. At the end of the series we are told that he continues to leap for the rest of his life, but presumably still within that original time-frame. I think it's kinda implied that from that point he is leaping through divine means or some such. So say something came out now. With all the crazy shit going on in the world, someone in the government funds a team and they dust off the old quantum accelerator, make some modifications using what science has learnt in the last 20 years, and they try to send someone back to do something specific. Say they send some navy seal or other specially trained military guy or gal. Someone born in say 1982 would be 33/34 years old and there would be a 12 year crossover period with massive potential for them to leap into a place where Sam Beckett is. Then you do something similar to the "Evil Leaper" episodes where they eventually find out the other is a leaper, and Sam ends up convincing this new character that what they were sent to do is morally wrong and helps to find a solution without violence or some such. At the end, the new guy doesn't leap because he hasn't completed his mission in the way required, but Sam takes him out through his own leap but tells him he's never done it before and doesn't know what will happen. The new guy finishes his leap and finds himself alone, with no mission and no idea if his holographic companion will be able to locate him... "Oh Boy" Sound any good to you?
reboot idea: Sam is exhausted, helping seems like it is getting harder and fearing it may be his last jump an older disillusioned sam is back in his present , he checks up on his wife from afar but finds out she is dead/dying we see sam saying goodbye, leaping on his own without the aid of the quantum leap accelerator for so long means it had slowly become harder and harder for sam to leap and takes him longer to recover each time. Sam grief stricken tries to track al to help him find the accelerator so that he can leap one last time to go back and spend some time with her. The project is moth balled and classified since losing sam, the higher ups forbade al from using it because of the risk of losing someone else, as well as the insane cost of the project and the risk of affecting/ damaging the timeline further. Some whizz kids track down the facility after somehow finding out about it, (possibly conspiracy theories about sams time travelling and personal traumas lead them to search it out) they break in while sam is repairing the accelerator, al gets injured and dies and one of the young people get sent back in time accidentally. The accelerator is finally destroyed, sam now sees it as his duty to guide the new leaper using als hologram equipment cobbled together with some present day tech, sam and the other young people try to bring the young leaper home we know there is more than just luck behind jumps and sam tries to get the new guy to realize that he can influence his own leaps, but sam is haunted by past leaps gone wrong.
J Purple Zach Levi is an actor, yeah. He is best known for Chuck, where he plays titular Chuck Bartowski, a CIA asset turned spy who gets a super computer downloaded into his brain full of all the US government's secrets. Bakula plays his dad on the show (one of the best parts of the show, really. The whole show is top notch, tho)
I'm scanning through this trying to find a moment where the guy doing the interview is not talking. It's either him or some idiot in the audience. Very little of scott talking. Shame as it has good production values.
Beside the original Star Trek. This Enterprise is my favourite among other Trek show. Yes, this Enterprise series for sure can go on longer. Those executives sure make a very bad decision to cancel it. Stupidity at highest level.
