Hail to Gary!! I'm a woman in her 30s and a lifelong scifi nerd. The media kept telling me all these garbage movies and tv shows that were coming out were "made for me". I was being gaslight into believing that i was racist and anti-feminist for not liking this new content. I was literally questioning whether or not I was a good person or just bat crap crazy. Then I found Gary and the rest of the Fellowship and realised that I am not alone. I didn't like the content because it was just objectively BAD. In the past, fandom had always been a safe space for like minded people to come together and respectfully engage in conversation (even when we didn't agree with each other). It's time we as fans and the paying audience demand good content, reject all the rhetoric that aims to divide us and take back our safe spaces.

Like myself I was questioning what was happening, the messaging, the values, right and wrong, being gaslight into thinking I'm bad because I didn't like the new Star Wars and these movies are garbage. Way to recognize the way how these evil people push us, force us into believing and accepting a shit sandwich is healthy, and when we say it isn't, they call us the worst names in the English language. Always push back and say no, insult them, because they cannot handle being mocked. They become as a child completely lost, with no power, just by mocking their insanity.
Same here. I'm 66 and have always been a nerd girl. And they are trying to tell authors and filmmakers that there are suddenly RULES? Rules about what fiction/fantasy can do? Give me a break!! Fandom will survive but these autocrats won't!
Hey Helen, I'm in my 50s and have always loved scifi, fantasy, cosplay etc. I'm also a professional in my field. Luckily I grew up with OG ST, SW, Dr Who, Ghostbusters, etc., the real Golden Era in the 80s and 90s when the films were great! Fandom united us no matter the differences. But things started changing in the mid 2010s, and it just didn't seem right. I found the Fandom Menace and the Fellowship like Gary and realized the rot that was infesting our society at large was also deep in our pop culture, hell bent on chsnging our cultural mythos. Scifi was always a bit liberal leaning, and I'm more conservative, but that didn't matter back then. Now you get ostracized if you don't ahere to "the message" as Drinker puts it. I've even lost friends in fandom because I refuse to be gaslit into believing that the new Doctor Who, SW, ST are the way it should be. The literary Scifi community is even worse. A shoutout to the Fellowship to give us a forum and keeps us all from going nuts. We will win this!
The fact that the guy with 1 million subscribers spent almost 2 hours with the 22,000 subscriber guy demonstrates what a genuinely good guy Gary is. I’ve been telling everyone about him
There is plenty of stuff I disagree with him on but he doesn't. forget where he came from and he seems very genuine, taking his time to talk to the people who made his channel this big. So I do respect him for that a lot. He is the kind of guy you could have a drink (Gary`s sober) with and find some common ground to talk about.
Sometimes he's a little too gracious. I like his original pieces more than I like the circle jerks. There's a place for getting different channel leads together once a week or so, but I like Gary's solo content more than the live streams.
@@harrymills2770 I quit watching FNT because it’s too chaotic, but switched it for Nerdrotic Nooner with Gary & Chris Gore. It’s much more relaxed and Chris has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of most things nerd.
I’m a 70 year old sort-of-nerdy woman and love Nerdrotic and all the other RU-vidrs who are bringing all the ridiculousness to light. They’re my go-to for entertainment choices and they don’t disappoint. I saw the recent Godzilla and Dune 2 movies and loved them. I hope Hollywood gets the message and starts making the appropriate u-turns (but I’m not optimistic that it will happen soon enough). Thanks for all you guys and ladies do.
I've heard about so many shows & movies being pulled back for retooling, aka being completely reshot, to me it was the other side starting to losing the war.
Hey, this 75 year old loves Nerdrotic as well and it was the kick back on Woke BS that lured my interest. But I stayed because of the fun and laughter.

I like it when Gary bashes Mark Hamill. So many are reluctant to criticize “Luke Skywalker”, but the man has gone so far off the deep end that I can no longer take him seriously. Separating the art from the artist used to be so much easier, but in some cases I can’t fully commit to that idea, hence why it’s difficult for me to even watch the original Star Wars trilogy anymore, much less the mediocre prequels and the Disney Wars trash.

I know Gary's been giving interviews about his life for a while now, but I never stopped and listened to a whole one. Amazing. Gary is sadly VERY CORRECT about the opioid crisis. Friends of ours volunteer at a detox center. One recently shared their choice to only attend funerals of those who passed sober. It's become impossible to attend the OD deaths as they're more frequent.

So, to the topic of the recovery part. I was watching Tales from the streets on instagram. As an Norwegian guy, i have never seen anything like this. Even traveling trough most european countries, some african etc. But the stuff going on in the States now, that is next level. Its like towns of zombies walking around, they are in the streets, sleeping on main roads, you name it. You can see people owning shops, are so drugged out, that they just throw the money over for there gros, so they can find it later.
The hero/villain mirror analogy is perfect because, technically now it would seem like "Villains" are writing the stories now, resentful people are changing characters and stories. The people behind are narcissists who believe they're 100% perfect and right and have no room for improvement, "if you dont accept that YOU are the problem" its like we have heroes and good character arcs held hostage by these insecure, weak, resentful and ungrateful people. But if you look it another way, we the people everywhere in the world are practically living a collective hero's journey, we are the ones who have to unite, grow up, identify the problem and grow to see through these challenges, incompetent people and divide

Gary said he hopes the issue doesn't get over-corrected, which I agree with, but I think it's necessary in the beginning in order for the current system to even feel the change and that there is a potent opposition. It's like when your car is swerving and you steer to the extreme opposite to get any kind of control on the traction, and then mellow it out with smaller adjustments until the car goes straight again.

I think the reason that there are so few successful bands or names that are selling out giant venues is that over the last 20ish years or so, music has just gotten more and more generic sounding as they've tried to perfect the formula that gets the most sales or views on RU-vid in a quick fashion, but not memorable enough to distract from the product they release the next month. So younger people are literally just consuming product, and then getting hyped for next product in an endless cycle
I lived in Berkeley from 1994-96, all of this existed then around the Bay Area - the crime, homeless issues, graffiti without merit, car break ins, assaults, gunfire. Nothing new.

Perhaps you have heard about Autists and what they call our "Special Interests"? I don’t know about that. To me, it's just rather intense nerdy interests. Since my childhood in the eighties, mine has been Disney, followed by Spielberg and friends, Tolkien, comics and Stephen King. Imagine how I feel about all of this now. I still feel like someone stole it all from me. I have kids, so there are more important things in my life, but if I hadn't had that, I would be in some kind of state of sorrow, I think.

There would be enough to work with the silmarilion. But all of those storys would need to be fleshed out, while sticking to the frame tolkien wrote. But for that you need some good writers who are are realy familiar and realy like tolkiens world.

Since we have women shooting out here, 53 year old woman, collected the original uncanny x men, wanted to be a comic artist or just a cover artist, was in love with Excalibur, saw the comic arc that led to the downfall of comics, saw it being duplicated in marvel studios, then Disney, etc. And here I am. Once you had to buy all the x comic spin offs to follow the story, i was out. And just in time, they went woke after that because they were bleeding fans and money. I could never afford to follow all of the strands, and that's what's happening now in movies and cable TV, only they skipped straight to woke. I can't afford disney AND Netflix AND apple TV AND paramount. And I rarely like the new stuff. So, I'm saving my money for something else, like most Americans. I was never a nerd. I was a tomboy in the 80s that went semi pro in softball. I could gave played for the silver bullets, but i got married and became a mom. That was the best thing ever. I found sargon through Gamergate and my kids watching him, because they were gamers, like their dad (who was a band need). I think nerdrotic was a natural progression once I started following the anti gamergaters. As a half breed, I can't get into the power plus privilege pov of racism because I've seen it on both sides and you can't make me pick ONE side of me. I'm not Obama. I won't sell out one parent for politics.

I was a young kid when I watched young and dangerous 3 which was a glorious HK gangster flick, a key female character gets brutally killed. The entire room of people were in shock, we all collectively felt something profound. Something you don’t get often in modern western cinema
