As somebody whose entire career (11+ years) has been working in and managing stockrooms and warehouses for large and small-scale operations, I can say this is SUPER impressive and is looking to be an excellent setup. I'm glad you guys have made this move and I love the behind-the-scenes look at your company's manufacturing/processing side!
Thanks Luke - looking much more workable for you and your great team - happy you finally have studio at worksite for full access to all resources to film/demo/test. Looking forward to your final tour video already.
Awesome work man! Lean Six Sigma is pretty awesome stuff! We think quite alike. We have a ton of pallet racking and quite a few pallet racking workstations in our facility
Wow every time i see an update video of the warehouse inspires me to keep going on my niche. I started with 1 printer 2 year later im with 8 printers and small area in my house. Looking forward to a goal of a warehouse. Keep up the good work. Love this videos.
when you started describing your assembly stations built into the pallet racking I was thinking, "Oh, you mean like FastCap?" Oh.. yeah, guess so.. lol
I have a few questions. Would make my day if you answered them. 1.will there be a sale on out of darts for black friday? 2.will you sell gavin fuzzy stuff on your shop?
Wow Luke! This is so cool! It is amazing to see how your business has grown so much as well as all of the stations and workflow systems you plan to put in place to boost efficiency. I'd love to make a business entirely out of a hobby I enjoy so much and I hope you continue to grow and prosper doing what you love.
I would love to see a video about what the typical maintenance is for your printers, and maybe specific fixes and the like? I have a small print farm as well, so I'd love to see how the problems scale with nearly 100 printers!
That's AWESOME!! Congrats on the new place. I just got another person into the nerf modding hobby via your videos and shop, you have done so much for the nerf community and I for one can't wait to see what's next for the future of the hobby and how much impact you'll play in it.
This was an awesome video! And I'd absolutely love to see more 3d printing videos as well, that's what got me into the hobby, and all though I've been 3d printing for 6+ years now there's always so much more to learn! I am literally blown away by how much OOD has grown and how amazingly cool your business and how you run it is. You guys are an inspiration and doing awesome work, keep it up!
Love this content, and all the ideas you said for future content. Would be very keen to watch all that kind of stuff, it's so interesting. Thanks for sharing this amazing journey with everyone!
Fantastic video! It's really cool to see behind the scenes and how you provide such fantastic customer service. Give a hollar to ask your hard-working employees!
Kaizen. As someone who has studied lean, 6sigma, you're going at it the right way. Fantastic look at where hobby dreams are made. Thanks for everything!!
Luke, thanks for sharing this adventure of yours with us. It is fascinating to see all background of your business. I would be very interested in videos about the print farm as 3d printing is something that interests me.
OMG!!! The printer farm was my fav. I absolutely love your products and have ordered many. They are good quality and customer care is great. I’m planning on getting the full Perses mod so yeah... :)
I love this video series, thank you so much for sharing so much info on how you manufacture, it's helped me out a TON! I was hoping you could tell us a bit more about how you setup the printers for production - what nozzles do you find most reliable? what kind of service schedule do you guys keep? Thank you again so much for putting videos like this together, it's fairly difficult to find information about 3d print farms!
I work with 3D printers in a non-commercial capacity and I think it would be incredibly useful to see how you manage that. I only have to overlook 12 and it seems like a giant job oh, I can't imagine what 90 + feels like.
Had to go look for the answer to that teaser. Pretty exciting concept! Great looking shop and very efficient production plan. This is what I consider “manufacturing porn” and its great.
Hi Luke thanks so much for the behind the scenes, I’m wondering if you’ll continue to grow the farm with Minis or mk3s+ ? Also are you still running off SD cards or have you found a print farm software you are using? I know Prusa is working on releasing theirs this year. You mentioned you were using notion.so does that interface with the printers in any way? Also how many printers will you put on one 20 amp circuit? Cracked 100 printers now? You are right it is hard to find much info on Prusa print farms! Thanks again for all the insights!
Between the worker Gen 3 and the new adventure force darts which do you think are better I want to order a couple hundred but I'm torn on which ones to get. I will normally be firing them out of a nexus pro with a 1 foot brass barrel and your 175 FPS spring spacer and your scar as well.
Is overnight utilization any concern on the minis? Ie just doing a 4 hour print when you have 12 hours to work with? On a similar note what about just hassle of clearing and restarting prints on the smaller build plate?
I know they've said that they work getting a great slice for each product, but each product most likely has it's own unique slicer settings which are probably some form of the built-in Prusa slicer profiles. I would love to see a video about slicing tips and tricks, though!
There is no magic setting that we use. We always start with the Pruse slicer setting and tune the file according to the print. The good quality comes from 2 parts. Custom supports and we spend weeks tuning the 3d files themselves to improve prints. -- Tarik
this comment is a little late, but what would you say is the best software for designing nerf accessories? Preferably something cheap or free, thank you!
Technically the HIRicane was sold pre-modded, but I don't think they sell that anymore. Also they used to sell blasters premodded with different springs like the kronos but again not sure if they still do.
