Long overdue update of the state of the Prusa MK3s printfarm here at Repkord. Just a quick walk through and a few pointers on what's worked well for us and what we've been working on. In this entry I discuss organization and layout, power issues, ventilation, QC, strategies for part processing, filament routing, and more.
If you're interested in 3D print farming or starting your own maker fabricator business hopefully there's a few nuggets of help in this and my upcoming shop VLOGs. More on the way!

Great tips. Looking good. Machines down for repair is a common issue so using the same machine in the farm is so helpful. Share parts, you know the issues, quicker to fix because of experience. Next step is injection molding. I’m down to only 3 print designs left in my farm. The rest have grown to enough volume that injection molded was the only way to keep up.

CHEP do you do the injection molding yourself, or outsource to a company?

Nice tour and noce insights. I like the shower curtains. :) I am constantly printing PETG with the textured sheets. No interface layer needed, insane adhesion, parts pop right off after cooling down/flexin the sheet. Did you try Josefs tipp with Windex on the smooth sheets with PETG prints? It acutally works well if you dont overapply the Windex. The Vac system is an awesome idea! Did you move the belt printers off the walls due to any issue with this mounting method?

Power sags play hell with electronics. If your car battery gets low you may find the car does weird things too. Having the right electrical setup was a great idea

Yep, found that out the hard way on My Friends Nissan. slight low voltage tripped the security on the ignition and would not start even though it turned over normally

Hey you should use 3DPrinterOS to manage your mini 3d print factory! Many universities use 100's of iPrusas managed with 3DPrinterOS. It's free to register. Try it, happy to help you make it more efficient

What kind of hair spray do you use. I found that the aqua net hair spray that everyone suggests leaves a sticky residue afterwards. Also how often do you respray the beds?

Great vid. I have a genuine question, why did you use original pursa over a cheaper clone or a cheaper 3d printer? Are they really that much better that they're worth the extra cost?

What about the CR30's? What is your plan using those in your print farm? Are they on the side because the print quality isn't good enough compared to the Prusa's?

I was wondering, how many printers do you need minimum for a business. I don't want to scale too fast but I don't want to have a big leadtime.

you seem to have all the same printers ? i have around 18 at the moment, but a massive mixture of them, is it better to keep them all the same ? I have Prusia, Geetech, FLSUN QQ, FLSUN SR, Anycubic, Ender 5, Print Mill, Alta, JG Maker, Mono Price and a few others - i also have resin printers - I want to make a profitable print farm (UK) - any help would be welcomed

Hi, I am setting up a print farm and I am at the stage where I am choosing the machines. I noticed that you have CR-30's, these are my printers of choice. My question is would you recommend the CR-30'S? Thanks.
@Repkord
@Repkord 2 года назад
They can be fantastic machines for the right parts with the right modifications. But I would NOT recommend them in stock configuration OR as a first / only printer on a print farm.
@brightest07
@brightest07 3 года назад
What mods do you add to make your farm better per printer? Or are they mainly stock?
@Repkord
@Repkord 3 года назад
They are stock. Downtime costs money so these are not machines I tinker with, these are workhorses, I need them consistent and cross compatible, modding them defeats that purpose. I have other printers for tinkering.

i take it your happy with the prusa printers looks like u have plenty of them, do you ever wish you would have went with a different printer
@Repkord
@Repkord 3 года назад
Honestly no. I have plenty of other printers that I can use for outlying cases but I find the Prusa to be the best bang for the buck in terms of ability and reliability at the moment. I'm sure plenty would disagree but for our operation it's been fantastic.

I have one at home and I love it but I don't currently farm with them regularly. That said I could certainly see it being viable for some especially once they get networking / Prusa Connect active.

@@Repkord Awesome! Do you print PETG on it? We have a small farm (14 machines) with Creality, Sovol, Prusa, Artillery.. We are just looking to move out some of the Chinese brands and consolidate on one or two machines (Looking at Prusa Mini and mk3s). We print all PETG though and was curious of any issues with the Bowden setup creating more work with stringing. All of our parts are very small so the mini's would be perfect from a size perspective and energy consumption standpoint.

@Repkord
@Repkord Год назад
Hairspray has been used for bed adhesion for well over a decade now. You're not spraying it on an open flame you're putting it on a cold build plate before you even start printing. I didn't come up with this, go look it up.
