Coming quite late to this video, but if you see this, I wanted to say thank you for sharing your experience! It very much helped me in making a decision about Nerva
Thanks so much for your lovely comment. 🤗 It's important to me to keep things real whilst also trying to be as positive as possible. So glad you found it helpful.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with both approaches. It's so important to understand that there are different options available - al too often I hear about people who feel so alone on their IBS journey!
Thanks Jayne, you're absolutely right. Hopefully, if we keep sharing our experiences we can open up conversations and help more people to find what works for them.
ASK ME ANYTHING! This is such a big topic and FAQ that I'll be hanging around here in the comments to answer your questions in real-time on 9th Nov 2021 between 3-4pm GMT. If you can't make it between those times then drop me a question below and I'll get back to you asap.
@@MaryamMagdaleina Yes, as far as I'm aware as long as you go through my link the discount is ongoing. The exception is when Nerva are having a sale of 30% or more off, in that case you'll pay the current sale price. 🤗
Thank you so much for the video! My question comes a bit late, but I was wondering if you can try both things at the same time, Nerva and the Low-FODMAP diet, or if you should focus on one of them only.
@@sioef8760 This is a great question that I talk about more in the blog post that accompanies this video www.theirritablevegan.com/nerva-app-or-low-fodmap-diet/#do-i-have-to-choose To be honest, you're the best person to answer it! I personally feel that giving your all to one thing at a time will tell you what's working and what's not. It allows you to give 100% focus and if you do see results you'll know exactly what got you them. You need to ask if you have the time, energy, determination and focus to give both things 100% of your time? If yes then go for it. If honestly no then pick one in the knowledge that the other will still be available to you at a later time. The research you can see here onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/apt.13706 that was conducted on comparing the effectiveness of gut-directed hypnotherapy to the low FODMAP diet showed that initially doing both together had similar improved quality of life results as doing each separately. However, at the 6-month follow-up, the continued improvements in the group doing both had reduced by 18% whereas those doing FODMAP and hypnotherapy individually had risen slightly. Ultimately, there are no risks or contraindications to doing both together as they work on IBS from different perspectives. They actually complement each other by strengthening and supporting your mindset whilst doing the hard work of changing your diet. Only you know yourself, the time and energy you have to commit and your chances of becoming overwhelmed. Whether or not you feel your symptoms are triggered mainly by food or by stress should also play a big part in your decision. I wish I have found hypnotherapy first and then tackled the low FODMAP diet with an already improved baseline. Please let me know what you decide and how it works for you. 🥰
@@TheIrritableVegan Thanks a lot for this helpful reply! It's kind of good to know that both are so effective and that there's actually no asset in combining them. I also wish I discovered Nerva before the low FODMAP diet! I had tried a CD with hypnotherapy before but it somehow did not really work for me. But I think Nerva might work better for me, because it's varying input everyday and on that CD it was just the same recording over and over, which made me so bored that I could not keep the focus 😅 I think I will continue trying both Nerva and the FODMAP diet simultaneously for now, even if it will not improve the outcome in terms of my IBS symptoms. The FODMAP thing really makes me motivated keeping good eating habits, and I struggle a bit with that. And Nerva for now everytime I listened to a session has had a really positive impact on my mood, so I definitely want to continue with this as well 😊 Thanks again for your work, I really appreciate the information you provide! In my region, both concepts are basically unknown and doctors tell you you just have to live with those symptoms, taking pain killers almost every day 🙄
@@sioef8760 Happy to help! I'm so pleased you've found your way towards these life-changing solutions. Hope you continue to improve and see great results. 🤩
Hypnotherapy (even that app) has done nothing for me. Doing low FODMAPs over 3 years has been the only thing to help me! I am finally seeing a GI doctor this year (I’m poor lol) so I’m excited to see if she can help.
I hope so 😊, looking into different approaches have had IBS for many years, I meditate , do some eft tapping plus a few other things for anxiety. Do you know if your discount code still works? I just get directed to the 7 day free trail that I can try out of cause.
The code should be working unless Nerva are currently running a promotion of equal or greater discount. The discount applied doesn't show up until the checkout page but once you're through the assessment and onto the checkout the discount should be obvious with the full price crossed out and the discount shown in the total to pay. Please let me know if it's not working and I'll chase it up with them. P.S. If I remember correctly you still get the 7 day trial and 30 day money back guarantee with my code.
I don’t understand how you keep benefitting from the Nerva app once you’ve completed the 6 weeks. What happens at the end of 6 weeks? Do you keep doing it once in a while?
Great question it can be a little confusing. When the app was originally launched you paid for access to the 6-week program and after this time had to pay a small monthly fee for continued access. The new price structure gives 3 or 12 months of access to the entire program. In theory, the program is complete after 6 weeks of daily sessions. By this time many people will have experienced relief and the positive effects will be long-lasting. However, if for any reason you haven't been able to keep up with the daily audio sessions the 3-month access means you don't lose the program or your progress after 6 weeks and can continue on until it's complete. It's also possible that some people take longer than 6 weeks to experience results. Others, like myself, repeat and revisit sessions frequently during stressful times. If stress plays a big part in your symptoms then with the 12-month plan it can be a comfort to know that you can access your favourite sessions at any time. It's also nice to know that with either of these options you also have the added protection of the 30-day money back guarantee, by which time you'll know if the program is right for you or not. I go into more detail about all of this in my full review of the Nerva app here, www.theirritablevegan.com/full-review-nerva-app-for-ibs/ I hope this helps?
Do you know if this helps with IBS C? Ot sounded like you had IBS D? Thanks for your video! I've become so anxious about food on low fodmap diet but it's the one things that's helped me at least regain an urge to go (when earlier this year I went a week or more without being able to go)
Great question! Yes, gut-directed hypnotherapy works for both IBS-C and IBS-D and has been clinically tested on IBS sufferers of all subtypes. Both of these scientific reviews found that symptoms improved regardless of bowel habit subtype; doi.org/10.1111/apt.13145 and doi.org/10.1111/apt.13706. As you're already familiar with following a low FODMAP diet you can continue with it (on your dietitians approval) whilst simultaneously using gut-directed hypnotherapy without any adverse effects. Nerva has a solid 30 day money back guarantee if you want to learn more. I hope this helps?
Nerva worked well for me and continues to work on a long term basis. It helps me to shift my mindset, stop hyperfixating and allows me much more confidence and control over my urgency, which was one of my biggest issues. I have a lot of detailed reviews on my blog, here's a good place to start, www.theirritablevegan.com/full-review-nerva-app-for-ibs/
Hi, yes the discount should still be working, except at times when the app is already on sale or discounted by Nerva. You don't see that the discount has been applied until you complete the assessment and the sales page is shown at the end. Please let me know if this wasn't the case and I'll contact the support team.
Hi Michelle, can you start a session again if someone interrupts you please? Do the sessions stay on your phone/laptop once you have paid for them so you can go back to them time again please? Thank you so much Tina
Hi Tina, yes you can pause, rewind, skip and listen to the sessions as you like. As Nerva is an app based program you need to have an active subscription to access the content. You can't download the sessions onto your phone. You need a stable internet connection to stream the sessions via the app. Unfortunately if you do not renew your subscription your access to the sessions will expire. I hope this helps?
@@TheIrritableVegan Thank you so much, can i do them via a laptop so I can pay by debit card as i dont have a phone for doing business and money transfers etc? Tina
@tinamcloughlin2710 Unfortunately the program is app based so you need a smartphone or tablet that can connect to the internet and run apps. There is no other way to access the program that I'm aware of but I recommend contacting Nerva just to check with them.
Hi Michelle, love your videos. 🙂 Is the 30% discount for the Nerva app programme still valid? When I click on the link, it just takes me to the app I've already uploaded and all it offers me is a 7-day trial. Thanks.
As far as I'm aware the code still stands unless they are currently running another seasonal promo of equal or greater value. Have you previously downloaded the app or completed the initial assessment prior to using my link? If so that might be why it's not working as you're already registered as a customer. Please reach out to the team at Nerva and let them know you're attempting to use my discount code: nerva.app.link/TheIrritableVegan I'm sure they'll be happy to help. www.mindsethealth.com/contact
@@TheIrritableVegan Hi Michelle, thank you for your prompt reply. That's exactly what happened, I'd already uploaded the app as advised by my NHS Gastroenterology Consultant and gone through the initial questions. I found your videos only a couple of days later. I was looking for a free Nerva hypnotherapy session sample on RU-vid to try it out without fuss. I will contact them to see what can be done about applying your discount code, thanks. Ana
Hopefully they should be able to get you sorted. At one stage there used to be a link that said something like "already registered" and if you clicked that you bypassed the assessment but the discount was still applied at checkout. They've changed their sequence since then so I'm no longer sure what the new process is but I'm sure they'll be happy to help, they're a very friendly bunch.
@@TheIrritableVegan Yes IBS-D as well. I’ve just had a colonoscopy and nothing found :/ I’ve not tried low Fodmap but very tempted to try Nerva. So tired of needing the loo multiple times a day 😢
@Patchow I feel your pain! Whilst an all clear examination is a blessing it can often feel like a curse as we're back to square one. Hope you find some relief soon xxx
