Gross warning: I discovered my bunny had nest box eye before it even opened its eyes. The sibling had them open and the other didn’t. I put a warm washcloth over its eye and it opened. When it did, a bunch of white mucus came out. Once I had it all cleaned, it looked like the rabbit didn’t have eyes. It was just empty sockets. I kept cleaning its eyes everyday for about a week but there was no improvement. I eventually got something called Vetericyn Plus Eye Wash and I washed its eyes with that. I also got a eye ointment called Terramycin. I applied that as needed until it healed. It indeed did have eyes and could see fine without blindness. If anyone else is dealing with this and has questions, let me know. You can get both medicines from amazon or a sometimes a local pet store. Good luck to anyone who is dealing with this. There is a good chance your bunny will be okay!
We had a rabbit that came to us with an infected eye.... i think she got something stuck in it in the nest box....she was impossible to treat as an adult....she was a good moma for a few years and never gave her babies an infection we are lucky and her babies are very happy momas themselves now Much love xoxox
You really need to wear gloves. Hands are so dirty especially dirty nails even after washing them. You need to stop touching that little infected eye with bare hands and dirty nails. Shouldve went to a vet and got antibiotics. Babies cant fightbinfections especially from dirty human hands.
