Nest Hello Video Doorbell + Yale Lock: Overview 

I opened this video out of boredom and really thought I would never see a real need for a doorbell camera. Now I don't know how I've lived so long without one.

Slowly but surely you’re selling me on everything Nest makes.

Finally a doorbell that looks like something I’d actually want.

However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

this video is the definition of thorough! and this product has me SOLD. one thing I really wish you would have shown is the doorbell camera's night vision mode, so rather than having your porch lights on, I'd like to see the quality when it's completely dark outside.

It’s a shame these products are from big companies that will use the data for their own benefit. I wouldn’t be surprised if google will monitor when your clothes look old in the pictures and so recommend clothes ads. It’s the future.

Oh wow. Wow wow wow well I'm sold on the Nest doorbell. I currently own a Ring doorbell and it definitely does the job but the live feed lags sometimes and the video quality does not live up to what is advertised. Will definitely be investing in a Nest doorbell very soon.

I have Nest cameras that are being used at my truck shop. There rather pricey. but all the features you mentioned in the video are well worth he cost.

Also, if you have a dish hopper, you can get notifications and view footage on your tv through the reciever

I've noticed there's a longer pause before you get notified on the app of some one showing up in the "zones" compared to ring

Admittedly, it's a pretty good looking doorbell!

I love my Nest Outdoor Camera. Hello is my next purchase with the Smoke Detector.

Seems to me there is a missed opportunity here for combining the features of both products. For example, when Hello recognizes the face of person x (i.e. residents of the home, or others you have authorized), Yale automatically opens.

My hesitation was issues in heat above 107 degrees From their site Nest Hello video doorbell: 5° to 104°F (-15° to 40°C) It can hotter than 104* in some months for where I live Ring Doorbell I dont think has that stipulation

Good review. However one thing you didn’t address was with this recording 24/7 it can potentially use a lot of data. Most people now have data caps with their ISP provider and I’ve seen reviews with the Hello using up to 600gb of data a month. This is the only thing holding me back as I come close every month with my data cap so this would surely put me over it every month

So if someone rings my doorbell and im away , say at work, does it still connect to me and let me speak to the person?

Would be cool if you can control the camera like a car mirror where you can move the lens from the phone to see 360 degres. Down sides etc.

My house has a wireless doorbell. I actually just bought a $22 wired doorbell kit and will be installing it and drilling and fishing the wires just that I could get a Nest Hello. How crazy is that? 😜

Please do make a video about if and how well it works with iOS HomeKit.

Is Nest notification time still so slow in May 2019 @ $5 or $10 monthly? The Ring Pro notification come through right away @ $3 monthly or $30 a year. Camera clarity on Nest is great but the sluggish Notifications and yearly fee pushes me away.

the video doorbell looks fantastic, unfortunately I have no preexisting doorbell as they are quite rare in Australia, we just tend to knock. Otherwise this would cost a lot to have an electrician install it, I wish it was battery powered.

Sorry I bought the Nest 6 months ago. They changed the subscription so I will keep the nest, and put up another camera near the door. Refuse to pay for their new subscription. Probably will change to a Ring doorbell.

Nice review Mike, I’ve been looking into these types of new tech security stuff for my home I’m building and this seems like it works pretty good, especially the sharp clear video replay.

Really good and informative video. The Nest lineup of products is really top notch. The only company that has every category covered, and covered well. Sadly, without Apple HomeKit compatibility (even though I also use Alexa), their products are a no go. I’ve had to look elsewhere.

If someone rings the doorbell and you watch the video, can you unlock the door while watching the live stream? Or do you have to exit the stream and select the door lock to do this?

At 1:59 he says the installation used existing holes from the old door chime. Fast forward to 2:59, holes everywhere. Obviously not the same home used in the video either.........

How easy is it to open the Nest X Yale lock while using or talking to someone through the Nest Hello doorbell?
