Stunning comparison as usual. In the whole web no one produce such content: the pro/cons chart is really on the spot, while the tone switching during the song gives a realistic idea of tonal differences between different devices. No mention is needed for the playing which is stunning. Well done!
Hey, again a perfect video on this topic. For me, the Soldano version of the QC lacks of some "mojo", especially in the mix. It's like a more narrow sound, less gain, a little bit boomy. I love the Soldano sim of the Helix. Would you like to profile your real Soldano with the QC and compare it with the stock version, the real deal and the Helix? Keep it up! Your channel is amazing!
Thank you, I'm really happy that you like the channel!!!! Yes, I would really like to compare the profile, the QC sim of the Soldano, and the Helix...Maybe I will do just a specific video about feel and tone. Thank you once more!!!
In my Honest and very Humble Opinion.......After coming to terms with the very real fact, that no matter how good profiling gets to real amp experiences, you will probably never get 1:1 similarity. Because there are many factors that adds to an amp's tonal character, right done to ambient temperature, voltage (both of these can be controlled to a fair degree) the room an amp / cab is being played in, the age and run in time of the electronics and the hand wiring in the amp, to name a few. But yes software can take it to a level where these slight differences can be negligible to even a veteran ear. IN this video, there were huge differences between the Soldano and the Cortex and the Helix. To my ears the Helix sound slightly closer to the real amp although the Cortex sounded slightly richer than the Helix (a slight eq'ing can fix that). And in the graph at the end, the Helix curve was more closer to the Soldano's curve, except for that small spike in the higher frequencies (which i think is intentional to compensate and bring parity to the tone being captured) . SO even if the Quad cortex has better profiling capability, it really doesnt matter, because you will never really get the exact same sound as the original, and if this is the case, then the next best thing is to get the maximum out of it to create really good tones which both units are capable of. They may not sound similar, but both will sound great . With this reasoning in mind, and with the thought that whatever money you spend, you should get maximum benefit and maximum bang for the buck. In this aspect, i think the Helix is a far better choice. I think the (very apple'ish) marketing tactics used for the Quad Cortex like the cool sounding technical terms like 'QUAD CORE. / .NEURAL DSP' etc is adding to the drool worthiness of it. It does look very cool and sci fi 'ish though and does sound scary good .
Superb demo! I came here because I'm buying something for live practice/gigging, but after hearing this, nothing comes close to real Soldano lol. In terms of deciding between QC/Line 6 Helix I literally don't know. There are Kemper Profiler Stage and Fractal FM9 out there, which are excellent choices as well. I think the best would be to play as many of them as I can and decide that way.
Great comparison, kudos! One thing that is missing IMO is the ecosystem aspect - specifically, the fact that you're getting Helix Native software (basically a Helix in VST plugin format) when buying Helix, for an additional 99$ is a really huge advantage. Helix Native doesn't require you to even connect the Helix hardware to your computer and it makes re-amping process so much easier, which is extremely essential for recording musicians: record once, and simply change the amp/effects settings afterwards without the need to record again. Sure this can be done by recording a dry signal and going through the hardware and outputting into a different track, but IMO, this approach is cumbersome and has it's own limitations (e.g. the DAW session is not synced to your hardware, so you don't have a way to recall the session specific settings right into the hardware obviously, which means that if you want the exact settings, you need to save them in your hardware and recall when you open a session).
I seem to have a problem getting accurate tones from Helix Native when using as a plug in (after transferring my Helix bundle to Natie). Anybody else having this problem?
@@phowell333If you haven't already got this sorted, check your input level. A lot of people gain stage their DI guitar signal like a regular mic signal and overdrive the plugin. On your interface turn your gain to zero and use the instrument input, or if you use your helix as your interface use input 5/6? to record the unaffected DI signal, this how I record and my presets sound identical.
I have Variax JTV-69S (with pickup and neck upgrades), and Powercab 212. This integration with Helix is really great for live gigs, less important for studio recording. To me, the WiFi and web apps in Quad Cortex are convenient but aren't that important. You have to connect with a USB cable to use the audio interface anyway. I also use the S/PDIF output in Helix to get input into my computer through my Focusrite interface without having to go through another analog to digital conversion. But profiling and hardware design are great features in Quad Cortex so I have one on order and intend to use them together.
Hi Jim, thank you for sharing...I never have the possibility to try out a Variax guitar and the power cab...but I think it offers a great experience to the users....and yes I agree with you also about the profiling procedure of the QC...which is a killer feature! Thank you!
Great video. I think that Is better when you use your best guitars. Can you do a video like this comparing the Quad Core with the Boss Gt-1000? Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘🇵🇹
Hi there Leo. Great work as always. I'm a Helix user for some time now, and i'm very happy with it. I don't need anything else from a gear point of view since Helix has it all. If i was going to buy a new unit? Yes i would think about it, right now? No. Also you had to consider in the price the expression pedal on board the Helix, which is easy 150 euro more. Keep up the good work and your wonderfull playing!!!
I am getting addicted to your accent. Don't get me wrong, i am not native either with a strong English accent as well :) your signature accent with super high skills on guitar and truly professional, absolutely enjoyable videos make you one of the best bloggers on the Globe. Thank you for your work.
Hey Roland....these are great compliments!!! Thank you so much! As regards the accent...well I know...I should work about it, but so far I prefer to dedicate all my energy to make music and videos...😊 Thank you once more!!!
@@LeoGibsonGtr my grandmother (mothers side) was fluent in five languages Greek Turkish Spanish English Yiddish. Sephardic. I’m in USA and speak English and some Spanish. I find with your accent it just makes me focus more on what you are saying. So in a way it’s a plus! I always try and focus on things with a ‘glass is half full’ rather than half empty type of outlook. In regards to these floor pedals I waited through two extensions for my MG 30 and when I finally got it, it was a unit that was supposed to stay on the Chinese mainland. It came from the factory with two dialects and no other provisions for language. I could play it enough to see that I would like it or something better so now I’m looking at the pod go or...I get a refund of the 300 for the MG 30 and a surprise check for 600 came in, so poor me has to make a new decision now.
Like I said; they're all as good as each other nowadays. It's up to the player to do the small tweaks to make them really rock. I have a Helix Lite and the thing is KILLER. Technology is great and I'm grateful af.
Another excellent video and comparison - you are the best! Like so many of your viewers and Subscribers, I can't help but compliment you on the quality, thoroughness, and unbiased videos you make. The real Amp and the 2 Modelers are wonderful pieces of gear, and I think anyone who has them must feel very fortunate indeed. Both Modelers got very close to the real Amp's tone. So close, that the differences didn't matter to me. I was very interested and happy to see the EQ graphs of the 3 units, as they helped me see if I could hear the differences displayed in the graphs. Again, they were very close. and any differences could probably be easily compensated with a multiband EQ. I agree with your analysis of the quality and usefulness of the Modelers compared to the real Amp. Personal use and needs makes a good guide. But, the newer technology is an important factor to consider, and I would probably purchase the Neural based on that and its size and weight. Right now, I'm happy with my HX Stomp and the incredible sounds I'm getting from it with the Firmware 3.10 Update. And at 1/3rd the price of those 2 Modelers, I'm pretty satisfied. Thanks
Thank you, your feedback is really important and I'm happy you like the videos! Yes, they are very close to the real amp and for gigging they are very convenient vs real amps...I can't bring with me heady rigs any ore...😊
I agree with your analysis. I have a Helix Floor and it's a really great piece of gear and I have very few complaints about its performance. It is quite large though. Line6 does not offer anything as powerful in a smaller form factor that is more portable. HX Stomp is a bit too limited for me. QC is kind of a "Helix Mini" I wish Line6 had made.
Interesting points...thank you for sharing! Line 6 has been very good in keeping the Helix updated with firmware updates...but I also think that with the tech improvements they can build something better, smaller and more powerful.
@@littlebreaker79 pod go have dsp limiation cant compare to helix who can add many block. Hope they make helix with size hx effects, 6 footswitch is good enough because u can stack a snapshot or stomp. Dont need a display to
The size and weight issues are because of the fact that the Helix has a much more robust build, and has a built-in expression pedal that is built better than a lot of third-party external ones.
Feels more HiFi? Its the effect of the new Helix firmware 3.10 updates oversampling increase features Your videos content quality are also improved from times to times and more enjoyable to watched, makes it clear to recognizing the hardwork you did to your channel Always love your modeler comparison series, keep the great work sir!
Fantastic demons omg! I think Line 6 blew it by not including Bluetooth/wifi capabilities in both the Helix and POD Go. My old Firehawk FX had it and that is a killer feature. Having to always connect the pedal to the computer to import patches and IR's is silly in 2021. Hard to tell the difference in a mix. God bless and rock on 😎👍🎸
I think it had to do with the instability of the Bluetooth function on the Firehawk. I always get booted off or the unit would not be recognized by the app. It is rather annoying.
Two things jump out right away. 1) Today's amp modelers are now almost indistinguishable from the sound of most real amps. 2) A good player (with a good ear) can make any modeler sound great. Nice job.
Haven't had the chance to listen to the comparison through proper speakers/headphones yet, but the tonal differences seem very small and can easily be negated with EQing. For me personally the QC wins for three reasons: 1. it has the same/more power in a smaller and lighter package 2. has an almost infinite selection of amps through the Neural Captures 3. it allows me to capture my favourite OD pedals which is one less thing to carry around The first point is almost the most important to me, because I have a 2hr commute with public transportation to my bands practice space and lugging around the Helix Floor + a laptop in the Helix Backpack(easily adds up to 10-12kg) and a guitar with case/gigbag really is tiresome, especially for some one who is already struggling with two herniated discs in the lower back. Sadly my QC wont arrive before October :(
Hi Andres, I totally understand you...also for me compactness and lightness are important aspects to evaluate...I can't cope anymore with big and heavy units...
As an effects geek, The Helix has plusses here. However, it is personal opinion, as you suggest. I would choose Cortex despite the effects due to profiling, size, ease of use, and future firmware upgrades which will expand the quality and number of effects. Besides, Helix effects are competing with Boss and Quad Cortex should be an exciting middle ground in that battle going forward. That Donner guitar is pretty impressive, but your songwriting and playing are the keys to the excellence here.
Thank you, really appreciated! Yes, the QC is in its infancy, and has a gap to fill vs its competitors in terms of fx, computer app, looper...but these things can all come with firmware updates...but the portability, the compactness, etc....are all here....I do agree as regards the Donner...it has some cons....but for 100 bucks...it is really impressive....
This is the best comparison video I have seen on youtube. The side by side sound comparisons were extremely helpful and you discussion and explanation of each point in your pros and cons list was immensely helpful. Thank you so much!
Grande Leo. Sempre preziosissimi contenuti! Io adoro il Quad Cortex... Niente da fare.... Amo anche line6 ma stavolta il rapporto peso/ prestazioni e features mi piace di più
I follow every video you make and it's getting better every time. Thank you. I went for Helix LT but before Neural DSP was released. Here is my 5 cents: Technology changes really quick. Either be stupid rich and buy every new tool or stop regretting the hardware you purchased if it works for you.
Thank you, really appreciated...your feedback is super important for m and I'm happy you like the videos! I do agree...if you are happy with what you have...no reasons to change...
Thanks for another great review Leo! 😊 As a beginner electric guitar player, that has however been playing acoustics before, I find it hard to know which unit would be easy to start with to get good sound. I've been thinking about the Helix but also heard that it can require a lot of time to learn how to configure good sound. Is that true? As I've not been using valve amps before I've no frame of reference what sounds good! 😂 I've also an Fender Mustang III that I would like to use as an output speaker. Can each modern unit today sound good with a cabinet speaker instead of monitors? 🤔
Hi, well, I think that the Line 6 products are the ones with pretty good user interfaces, and once you learn the basics, you can obtain pretty good tones. Yes, you can use your amp, and you have few possibilities...for instance the 4 cable method with which you can use effects before the amp and others after the amp (using the effect loop of the amp), or you can go in the input of the amp, removing the amp simulation, or you can use just the power amp section of your amp, removing basically the cab sim from the pedalboards. So you have plenty of options. Thank you!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Thanks for the reply! 🙂 Good to know if doesn't require too much effort and time to get a good use of the Line 6, I'll have it under consideration then. 👍 Yes, my amp has an effect loop so that is probably the right choice. I was little more concerned if the resulting sound would be good independent of pedal board or if its only certain models that have the possibility for this setup to sound well.
Hey man, great video, thanks for creating it! One non-sound comment is that I feel like you have a bit more room above your head in the frame than you specifically need and its a little uncomfortable to look at because the bottom of the frame is very close to your feet :)
Hi Leo, I'll also have to agree on the Quad Cortex, specialty for recording. I'm 59 years of age, light and compact its a plus for me. Thanks for bringing your knowledge and helping the guitar community. Chao!!
In my opinion the pro is that you can use it as an audio interface, to which you can non only attach your electric guitar, but you also have 2 XLR input that can drive condenser mics, so that you can record an acustic guitar or the voice. Basically you don't need any other audio interface.
By far the most useful and neutral comparison on RU-vid so far. I wish we had a way to know and compare the actual DSP specs similarly to when we compare PCs or mobile phones. As a Helix user, I won't be switching to QC, but I am looking forward to see how the QC develops in the coming years, and what Line 6 will release to compete with it. Hopefully there will be some even more amazing units when the time comes to upgrade. Thanks for a great video Leo
You are welcome, and thank you for the great compliments....your feedbacks are really important for me! Yes, I'm also curious to know what Line 6 is gonna releasing...also an update from BOSS would be very welcome...we will see... Thank you once more!!!
Ir amount Quad cortex .. 256 slots Helix .. 1024 slots Headrush .. 5 gb of IRs.. just for the record, I am not paid by headrush but I am tired of the neural artificial hype and the boredom that line6 is. Pro users, go for the axe or kemper stuff Not pro but want a actual sound go for the headrush, save some money and please, play, practice! Go to your local store and try them. People like Leo are so few at youtube, he is honest, and he is trying to help. Some others.. well.. you know.
Hi, I will update my previous video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BpEgHGKPOpA.html) as soon as some firmware updates are gonna be available (for instance the Cygnus for the FM3). Thank you for your message!
Hey Leo, great video and great playing! It blows me away how you can make that Donner sound awesome! I want to give you a small English tip, definitely not as a criticism but to help expand your knowledge as you have already expanded mine. In general one would use the word "since" only when referring to a specific point in time. Ex: since 1991 or since 2 o'clock. But without a specific date/time one would say "for many years" and "for many months". "Since many years" sounds really odd to a native speaker.
@@LeoGibsonGtr Your English is already excellent Leo! It's a little thing, I only said that because I know I would appreciate receiving a tip like that myself.
I bought Helix LT back then, and sold it. Now, I'm planning to buy Helix Floor because I need to utilize my JTV89F which I invested more than $1,000 on it.
In other comparisons on your channel I have been surprised that I liked the Helix the best and I think again it was impressive here. Personally I liked the way it sounded in the mix more in this video than the Quad Cortex but of course that could just be the way they were dialled in. The Quad Cortex has also impressed me so much in every demo I have seen of it but in this video unlike some others I have seen pf yours, I thought the real amp stood out above the others this time although they were all good enough that I'd no doubt be happy with any, all would be better. If it was a choice of either Helix or Quad Cortex it's too hard. Both sound great, the profiling is a killer feature but the Helix effects and expression pedal are also desirable.
Wow thank you so much! The cheap guitar made a huge difference! I think it makes clearer the advantages the different amps provide to the sound. It also makes the video sound more like what we mere mortals can expect to get from these amps. Thank you!
GREAT Video.....As of 01/22 - here's a few things about the QC. The quad cortex has no looper. When changing presets the reverb and delay trails don't spill over. The QC has issues with some expression pedals - there's a delay in them. As soon as you move beyond just the tone..... you'll realize the QC is half-baked. I have a QC so I know. There aren't consistent and frequent updates to the QC either. Fractal (Axe Fx), updates their product about every 12 weeks. ..... while the size of the QC is nice, and the tones are very good, that's where it stops. IMHO - don't waste your money on the QC.
Nice review. Just one clarification, Helix input sample rate (and USB) is fixed at 96KHz (as for the manual). The selector in the menu is just for AES output. Which one would I've bought? Herlix, just because I would need an all-in device, QC misses the expression pedal, so yet another device to buy/bring + patch cable etc... this is exactly what I'm trying to get rid about, moreover is not heavy at all (even if QC is much lighter) and QC is missing the text strip which I find SUPER useful cheers
Thank you, I'm happy you like it! I have some videos dedicated to plugin in my channel...if you mean Neural DSP Soldano vs other Soldano Plugin...yes, I also would like to do it...maybe in the coming weeks! Thank you!
Hi Leo, excellent review! They are both awesome but I liked the sound of the Quad Cortex better. It seems to have that a bassier inclination and a somewhat more scooped quality in the mids however it seems like all of that can be managed. When the tendencies are towards a more fizzy high end it is harder to smooth out without sacrificing certain tonal properties. Another issue that Line 6 and even Boss don't get is that working musicians want more functionality in a smaller package. They have their line ofsmaller products that seemed aimed at providing an entry level point to entice the customer to buy the larger units. I personally do not want to carry around big modelers, amps or anything else that is big and heavy and don't care about how many bells and whistles they add. If you are on tour or doing fly gigs it is simply not practical to haul around these huge pedalboards.
Hi Isaac, I totally agree with you! Portability is a huge pro of the QC....and it can also serve as a complete hub for recording with just a computer...this is very convenient when you are on the go....I think that also Boss and Line are gonna follow this route with the new generation of pedalboards that they will want to do... Thank you for your message and for sharing your opinions and experiences and I'm super happy you like the video!
I think the high frequency spike is why the Helix always sounds a little fizzy to me. High cutting fixes that but with an FM3 or QC, maybe you dont need it for that reason. I'm waiting for my QC to arrive, but I've built a board for it with a plan to run an HX stomp in the loop of the QC and control it via midi. Best of both worlds? I hope so. Even with the expression pedal, it will be smaller and lighter than the Helix on it's own.
@@LeoGibsonGtr That would be great!! I'll look forward to that one if you do it. The Stomp can do things like auto wah on and off which will make it great before the QC amp block, and seems to have much better options for reverb, modulation etc etc that will be better after the amp block. I dont want to put the QC in the stomps loop so for each patch, I can only choose stomp before of after QC amp block, but not both - but I think it'll still add a whole load of effects where the QC is lacking - and maybe some of the Stomps amps will still beat the QC too?
A little difference between the three. What A/D converter do you use? Did you add preamps, compressors, EQs, enhancers or similar effects to the recordings/mix?
Hi Miguel, I use an Apollo X16. While mixing the song I don't use comp enhancer, etc. for the guitar tracks, but just a little eq. In the more sound section I have removed also the eq. Thank you for your question!
Great Video, fully agreed 👍. If I could get a Helix used for a good price I would prefer it as it still is a stunning piece of gear. But for the same price... I would go for the QC because it can capture real amps.
I’m going to sell a basically brand new space Gray helix floorboard. I have the rack. I don’t need both. I’ll eventually put it on reverb. It’s not there yet. I will be taking a huge financial cut since it’s new but I opened it and updated it to 3.0. I have no plans on getting any new gear right now due to needing money and stopping the gear acquisition syndrome aka #gas thing which took ten yrs to get under control. I’m Also waiting for shipping to get a bit better since they are overwhelmed right now.
Amazing as usual...this is the best place for reviews!!! I would mention the availability and the mess with delivery dates of QC, which is really frustrating. If you get QC need a lot of patience on everything... as well on QC: No auto-wah, no intellipitch, no looper, no synth, no swell....maybe they have newest DSP chip, but what's the point to get a Ferrari Engine if you drive in a parking lot?
Thank you Giordano, this is a great compliment! Yes, so far the QC is limited as regards effects, but it is still at its first releases of the firmware and the Helix has done a lot of iterations adding new features , effects amp along the way. So here we hope that QC will follow the same path, providing with new firmware, new effects, the looper, the computer app...so using all the power that the machine can offer. Thank you for your message!
Thanks Leo, as usual a fabulous comparison video. I am getting old, so weight is getting increasingly important to me! I also like small form factor gear & new tech. All things considered I favour the Cortex.
i love your content, very cool analysis every time but having followed a lot of your vids there is something i miss for the "final notation" regarding every comparison you made with quad cortex. first comparison was QC vs FM3 where score was kinda identical 7+/6- for each units you just made this video where you compare QC to Helix with respective scores of 7+/6- (QC) and 9+/4-(helix) and last comparison id'like to point out is the FM3 vs helix to achive the circle where scores where 9+/5-(FM3) and 8+/6- (Helix) thus, if notations are quite équivalent between QF and FM3 how does FM3 can have better notes when compared to helix than QC when compared to helix. it's just a simple question ofc :) just curious of what is the factor that makes this difference. And do you plan to make a video comparing 3 units with final notation ?
Hi, well the FM3 vs Helix was actually FM3 vs Helix LT as they are in the same price range, where here I'm comparing the QC to the Helix Floor, as once more they are in the same price range, so in my opinion you can not make the equation you are doing here. As regards the comparison of the three, maybe I will do it in the future, after some firmware updates so that it's gonna be even more interesting... Thank you, interesting topics...
Just got the Quad Cortex a few weeks ago and I love it so much so that I sold the FM3. This thing is just so easy to use and dial in. The amount of amps and pedals this thing can capture is unlimited. The screen is easy to see from a standing position and the rotary foot switches make it a breeze to adjust parameters. Glad I got on the preorder over a year ago. Was worth the wait.
I think the quad looks great ! I’m a Axefx user and helix rack ! The quad hasn’t shown me anything yet that I can’t get in my other effects I think in a years time it will be competing ! But it’s miles behind the Axefx 3 at the moment for features and effects routing My 2c - plus I’m a rack guy and the format is why I got rid of my FM3
Hi, thank you for sharing. Let me just add that in the Quad Cortex user manual there is written: "Typical Power Consumption: 18W" Thank you for your message!
Thank you Christopher, really appreciated! Yes, you are right, it's a very old AXE FX II first series...It's my first high end amp modeling unit that I bought many years ago...I don't use it anymore but I played it so much in the past...I'm not able to sell it...😊 Unfortunately I have not done yet a tour of my studio...but you are right...I should do it...
The v3.50 firmware of the Helix let's you move the mics, within a graphical interface, and all of the cabs sound really good. Factory Presets have also been tweaked and sound better know as they come, and there are some new presets too.
Yes please do a Feel comparison video. I had a Helix and it sounded great but I felt like I had to do a lot of eq work to get the unit to sit in a mix right. Many of the amps sound great but many times the low end felt too boomy or loose and by default I had to low pass sometimes down to 8k. Thanks to your analyzer, now I know why. Can't wait to get the Cortex. Your licks are so damn tasty. Great work!
Leo, thank you so much for your job, it's really amazing! anyway, your comparisons lack the most important thing: Sounds and feel. Listening on RU-vid is not so easy to find out these, especially the feel...
You are welcome Andy. There is a section in the video dedicated to the sound. As regards the feel, maybe I wild do a part 2 of this video, just dedicated to that point... Thank you for your message!!
Hi Leo I really like your reviews - and your playing is awesome! But: when I first stumbled upon your channel I was searching for latency-times on different modellers. Perhaps you could include that when you make your comparisons? Both in “idle” and in a stressed out max of a unit. The bit/sample rate doesn’t say much about latency. At least a new latency test for the new kids in the pack would be appreciated. Cheers
Hi, yes, I've already done a video about latency (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BpEgHGKPOpA.html) and I will update it as soon as some firmware updates are gonna be available (for instance the Cygnus for the FM3) Thank you for your message!
Hi Leo, another nice video) frequency analysis is very interesting feature for such comparisons Btw, are you going to make some gigs? It would be nice to hear you live playing
Thank you Cousteau, I'm happy you like the video...I do agree...frq comp is interesting! So far I have no plan for live gigs...we will see, actually I would really like to make a CD...but the channel is absorbing all my energies...
Hi, well, I think it depends. If you want a unit able to profile an amp or you need the double XLR input, or you need something smaller and lighter, yes, it is worth it. Otherwise you ca wait until the QC mature, for instance offering more effects, the looper, the pc app, etc. Thank you for your message!
You can play and record a guitar and a vocal microphone on Helix, it has dedicated mic input. Also, you have AUX in, so you can run 3 inputs simultaneously.
Yes, but you can not drive two condenser mics at the same time....that's what I was saying. For instance a singer with an acoustic guitar can record his voice and the acoustic guitar with two different mics, driven both with the QC. Thank you for your message!
This channel was the one that helped me more in choosing a pedalboard. I could discard some because of their sound and some because they sounded better but Helix sounded well enough and was so much more comfortable to use without a pc, so many footswitches, solid pedal for volume, wah, pitch, ... BTW, v3.50 let's you move mics and all cabs and presets have been noticeably improved.
If you close your eyes, you would never notice any cuts when the gear is changing in the song, so they all sound the same in the mix. Just grab which looks better for you. This is how the majority of people buying anyway!
Again... simply amazing work. THANK YOU! I just can't say enough how I love your editing, script and most of all playing. Just all WOW!!! Bravo! I got the MX5 from the last video I watched, and I have a Helix and just ordered the Quad Cortex. Might be a year before I get but can't wait. PLEASE KEEP UP THE AMAZING VIDEOS!
Hi Marcus, thank you so much for your fantastic compliments!!! Really super appreciated! I'm happy to have been of some help and that you like the videos and the playing!!!
I really don't see the bass bump you mention at 13:03, the spectrograms look the same to me. however, guitar is still going to be high-passed either way with most scenarios
I want them both lol. Having a desktop app is an important feature for my workflow and the profiiling doesnt matter one bit to me personally so I want the Helix ... BUT I dont have space for the helix and I like the sounds better on the Quad Cortex so I want the Quad Cortex. Can't decide yet!
Such an awesome comparison and as always amazing playing and it really having a comparison using a song I feel like is 100% the way to go. Thanks for the great content and keep it up! 👍🏽 Only thing I would say is change “Easyness” at around 17:15 to “Ease of use” just because it looks more appealing (but that is a personal preference 😋).
Hi, so far I don't....I have not yet entered the preset market...I actually sell only profiles or IRs...But I should also try to enter the preset market...maybe in the future. Thank you for your message!!!!
The thing for me now is. Line 6 has shown steady consistency of updates and support. Where as the Quad Cortex has disappointed many and have delayed a lot of what they promised when they announced it.. For me now I love the size of the QC, but I'm just not sure they are 100% focused on the product yet.. Where as Line 6 is many years older and rolling out frequent updates which is keeping it very competitive with the rest.
what a great player though !!!! with such great playing even a metalic cup will sound great...specially like the guy seems to have this ability to produce great tones from any of the 3 !!! which comes to this...the best tool is the one we are able to tweak right :) and than to use with that excellent level of playing...everything would sound great.....even the cat who can pass by...
