The theme could be the neural side of strength.
Activating the neuro-muscular compartments up and down.
Another topic is about what densifying neural drive.
"Strength starts as a thought and what are his thoughts and focus to create the greatest signal possible? In other words what is the thought of strength? Then the key is to get the nerves to carry this great amount of signal (pulse trains) - usually we use grinding exercises . Then the muscles must respond with great contraction."
Strength requires proximal stability in the linkage to create great strength distally in the linkage any special exercises or drills here? Obviously his breath (holding) was key. The brain shuts down strength when it detects instability.
Injuries occur at the regions of highest stress. The many small features that can enhance performance as well as injury resilience.
Training for bone and joint strength. For example after training a heavy deadlift or squat session take 3-4 days off. Did he do this to gain bone and joint strength? This would be very consistent with the science. I have had great talks with Ed Coan about this and long term joint resilience.
Good training technique, training cycles, and the cerebral side of strength.

@@RoccoVenizelos great to see and hear from Kaz again. Brings back so many memories for our Days back in Auburn at his Gym. His intensity was legendary! Great to see him in a "Light place" for his life. I'm not sure he was as clear about it in those days. I've deconstucted Naval Aviation & tennis and other skills, just as we used to do with lifting.

this stability / strength discussion correlates well with what we know about flexibility improvements relating to strength gains thru the ranges of motion.

Question to "density of neural drive" is this achieved by higher activity of 1.motoneuron or other neural inputs on 2.motoneuron (assuming EMG signal is proportional to 2.motoneuron signal) ?

"Did I ever tell you about the time I squatted 2000 pounds WHILE a doctor was amputating BOTH of my legs! TRUE STORY! Yeah, and then the docs said there's no way you can squat without legs and I just said to myself I'll show you doc and I went out and I squatted an extra 2000 pounds WITHOUT LEGS! No one could believe it!"

Bill's mental techniques did not work when he tried out for the Packers (one can imagine him trying to mentally tackle the ballcarrier). My friend was a ballboy during that preseason and said Kazmaier had no ability to move laterally, perhaps because of his uniquely stiff spine (lol), and showed no football technique of any sort. But he was super duper strong (just ask him, he'll tell ya!)

Cool episode But mainly a vehicle for Bill to recount his exploits and brag about his methods? I did THIS many reps, with THIS many pounds. and with THIS injury!

Yes but why is this advertised as something that orhers can implement? It's virtually a commercial for how great Bill is. And I wasted an hour of my life hearing Bill talk about his accomplishments. Hallelujah. Praise the lord. Ok, cool....
