Finally ! A real REACTOR who, after 2 songs, notices things in BM's music and songwriting that many people never do! (of course there are good reactors :)
Thanks!! I really live for good songwriting and dynamics where things aren't so predictable, and tthe changes within them really takes you through the raw emotion of the person writing. They can definitley do that...EASILY!
React to this MV which showcases the talent of these amazing ladies! During the pandemic Band-Maid did many online concerts for their fans. This from one of these OKYUJI as they call concerts. It shows their versatility. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iaf94nNSRGE.htmlsi=rAeNtUw06o2T18lF 🤘🕊️🦍🥷👸🏻👀PO!
Kanami solo's through every song. I saw the LIVE in Charlotte last year and lock on Kanami and it's a wonder her hands don't just fall off after a show. She's absolutely amazing to watch. This song just keeps getting better every listen. Last song Akane and Kanami went to a half time for the solo? .......Anyone? You can run but you can hide from Band-Maid.......they have already planted their subliminal seed into your musical soul, resisting is futile.
As you listen to more, you will find that Kanami (lead) often solo's through the whole song, she has gained a lot of freedom since Miku (rhythm) really developed as a guitar player and is capable of holding it down with the rhythm section. Kanami was/is Miku's guitar tutor, Miku only started learning to play after she formed the band initially as lead vocalist, Saiki being recruited a bit later when Miku decided her voice wasn't strong enough for the band. 'The second verse is different from the first verse' is one of their trademarks which makes them so interesting to listen to.
Honestly, it's really awesome to hear a band that isn't so straight-forward and uses so much within one song...you balance that without it being as over convoluted like so many prog bands, and you get something truly unique! I am buying everything the Madiacs are selling!!
Great couple of reviews! I'm gonna put a edited spiel I give to new reactors about BandMaid Welcome to the BandMaid experience. The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Here's some opinions and facts: •Bass solos are more likely to happen than not. There's a bass solo in their first video! •Guitar solos are shorter, far shorter than you would like them to be •Unless you are superhuman, you will not/ can not be able to pick up everything they're doing to make that song great on the first listen. •You like a hard rocking crazy fast tune? Well how about it done as a slower acoustic version? They do that. •10 plus years with the same line up. Think about that. •More hooks, riffs and motifs in many songs than most bands have on an album. Check it out. No hyperbole. •Use of puns, wordplay using homophones between Japanese and English are not the exception. They are typical of Kobato's lyrics. •Despite the fact that their LIVE videos are superior to the official studio MV"s the latter are excellent. Funny, graphic, innovative and stunningly beautiful works of art describe what you get with BandMaid's official MV's. •As close to the Beatles in terms of unique persona of the members as any group since the Monkees. MISA is quiet and drinks. Akane is happy and eats, Miku is klutzy and CUTE, Kanami is an airhead who crushes on Saiki and Saiki was the Ice Queen. But the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed. See Yokohama's Endless Story! Their image is carefully crafted or spontaneous or both. •Many songs have catch phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in English and Japanese. Most songs are full of joy as well. •They're having a ball. They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other. •Make no mistake, this is not a regular band.
You are goin’ to the greatest rabbit hole there are. 11 years and 130+ songs of pure greatness 🔥🤘❤️ For starters.. Hate?( Official Live) Choose Me( Music Video) Freedom( Official Live Video) Daydreaming( Music Video) Thrill ( Music Video) Don’t You Tell Me (Official Live Video) There are Maidiacs coming to tell you more about the band and the members but shortly Miku, rhytm guitar and the founder of Band-Maid Kanami aka Mincho: lead guitar and composer Misa: bass Akane:drums Saiki: vocals Have fun in this journey 💥🤘🔥❤️
No verse same as the first, their constant evolving in every song is the reason why you don't ever get bored with them. I'm most amazed by Miku (red rose), from not knowing how to play guitar when the band started, to now.... the fact she can hang with 3 other phenomenal players. She is a pigeon with the fortitude and drive of 1,000 men, yet humble and appreciative of her band mates and the fans. She's pretty f'n funny too, wait till you watch her "omajinai time" (magic spell time) from their okyu-ji's ("servings", what they call their concerts). This all comes from Miku's time working at the maid cafes. 🤘
Welcome to Band-Maid. Seems like you’re going to enjoy them a lot. They’re all great musicians, but what I find really remarkable about them is their consistent quality and songwriting, while also being a touring band. They make it catchy enough for the layperson, but densely packed with interesting details for musicians and music lovers.
Band-Maid doin' Band-Maid things, man. They make a box of chocolates seem predictable. And just like a box of chocolates, The Maids are best when savored. No rush. We'll be here. A LOT of great music you are about discover, from these ladies and a whole slew of other bands. It's gonna be a blast! 🕊
Best reaction to this song yet ❤ You named so many things that are the "identity" of Band Maid ... Really great! If I could place a recommendation, than this: Don't wait too long to react to "Corallium" live ... IMHO this is one of their best songs, made for music lovers ... 😅
“It sounds as if she’s soloing through the whole song”. That’s our Kanami! One of the most interesting guitarists I’ve heard play in my 58 years of living.
The only thing predictable about them is how unpredictable they are in their song crafting. Almost all written by the lead guitarist (Kanami), lyrics by the rhythm guitarist and founder Miku. They all pretty much write their own parts, most of the time they have short integrated solos that always fit. Quite often, you will hear a small part in a song that's nowhere else in it, or any other song. My favourite band since I discovered them in 2018. It is definitely hard to pull away. A side note, almost every song they have done is in the "releases" part of their RU-vid page.
It seems like the 2 tracks I have seen/heard have both had their own unique characteristics, which prevents a band from getting tiring, I can easily see just how and why they have so many awesome devoted fans! Also, they can really do it well live, which a lot of bands struggle with outside of the magic of the studio. The songwriting is so intriguing, and so starkly different than anything else out there, which is such an immediate draw for someone musically inclined like myself. Really seem like I'm gonna get fully sucked into this, and I'm not even mad at all!
I need to slow myself down, or I'm gonna just go crazy on this band!! How are they so damn good, and WHY THE HELL IS THIS NEW FOR ME?!?! AAAGGGGHHHH🤣🤣🤣
I just subbed because I love getting a musicians perspective on the intricate song writing and arranging that BAND-MAID always brings. They have become my all-time favourite band. I grew up listening to the great rock bands of the 60's and 70's but these ladies give me all the hard rock sounds I love without the egos and attitudes.
WOW, thank you so much! I don't lean into the musical aspect of myself too much, as I don't wanna come off overtly pretentious as some others do. However, there is that inescapeable aspect of my thought process when I listen to something new...like...wait...did they just modulate?....is that 7/4 now!? I guess it makes sense for me to allow that part of m brain to engage😅
Hard to recommend songs because each one is unique and excellent. My own introduction was "Play" and "Choose Me," both live versions. They do also have slower songs like, "About Us" a gift to their fans during Covid shutdowns, acoustic, "Sayonakidori" from a Christmas acoustic concert, Pure groove, "Dice" MV. You might want to check out Ohrenje's YT channel to discover more about the band.
The lead guitarist (Kanami) has been teaching the rhythm guitarist (Miku Kobato) for the past 11 years. Now that Miku-chan has leveled up in her playing, Kanami-san can pretty much just play lead guitar the way a lead guitarist does it.
Great reaction. Interesting and considered comments and details about the arrangement etc. Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-Maid and the mutual love and respect that the Maidiacs and these ladies have for each other. More please- Thanks (UK) If you like dynamics try the song Awkward Live Video.
Welcome to the Pigeon hole. Resistance is futile 😂. You have just scratched the surface on what I like to call the greatest Hard Rock band of the 21st century. Kanami (lead guitar and main composer) is a real genius with song arrangements. Miku (rhythm guitar and vocals) writes most of the bands lyrics. You already know Misa (she is called the Barefoot Assassin because she plays barefoot) on bass. Akane is known as the Gorilla for how hard she hits the drums. Her and Misa make up the best rhythm section in Rock IMHO. Saiki was the last to join and is the youngest. If you get the chance, you must see them live. They are the best band I have ever heard live. The Maids call their fans Masters and Princesses. Some of us call ourselves Maidiacs, and you are on your way to becoming one of us. Good luck not fixating on them.
Another great reaction and breakdown. Like your Musician's point of view of what's going on. Definitely makes the reaction more enjoyable. Yup...you got Kanami...With Miku holding down the rhythm guitar, under Kanami's tutelage, Kanami is pretty much soloing the whole song...🤩 Continue on Master Eric with the Maids. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
One of the big differences between the lead gutairist of band maid and alot of other lead guitarists is she always challenges herself musically when it comes to her guitar work on songs and as a result it challanges the bassist and the drummer to keep up with her I think one of the prime examples of her challenging the drummer to pick up her game would have been while they where creating the song black hole. she asked her how fast she thought she could drum, the drummer went away and did like 4 tests runs on the song of growing difficulty and the lead guitarist basically said ok you are doing the hardest and fastest one to play for the song, and left it at that. They are basically a genre by themselves at this point
You got them quicker than I think I've seen any other reactor do. I think you really going to enjoy going down this pigeonhole. I think you deserve a sub for that reaction. And no I'm not buying you a sandwich
Now that you have seen Band-Maid's latest song, it might be a good idea to go to the first song that introduced Band-Maid to the world. That song is "Thrill" and the mv literally saved the band from being broken up by their label and is a milestone moment for the band. The next milestone would be "Alone", the first song composed, written and arranged by Band-Maid that was allowed onto a album by their label and really set them free. Any song from these amazing ladies is a great choice though, they are all that good!
Welcome to the pigeon hole Po! Classic Maid 2nd verse change-up action here 👌 I strongly recommend a couple of their finest studio MV's in 'Dice' and 'Bubble' displaying catchiness, technical prowess and absolute beauty and power 👊👌🤘🤘🤘
BTW...since you are definitely going to be doing more Band-Maid, you might see some terms being used, so some FYI: For Maid theme: Miku, the band founder, used to work in a Japan Maid Cafe to make ends meet until she made her dreams come true. Her vision, create "the gap", a juxtaposition between cute Maids and hard rocking Music. "Masters and Princesses" - this is what the Maids call their fans. "Okyu-ji" - Translates to "Servings", which is what they call their live concerts. "Omajinai Time" - Translate to "Magic Spell Time", during this time a spell is cast at by Maids and their Masters and Princess at Maid Cafes "Maid Armor" or "Maid Battle Armor" - the Maid outfits they wear. Although they started with same/similar outfits, they have evolved over time to fit the personalities of each Maid. Other FYI: Kobato is the family name of Miku, the second lead vocal, backing vocal, rhythm guitar, main lyricist and band founder. Her Kanji translate to "small pigeon". "Hato" which is what translate to pigeon/dove, can also be conceived as 8-10. So she has taken on the persona of a 810 yr old small pigeon. Thus Miku often ends most of her sentences with "PO!" "PO!" - Onomatopoeia associated to the sound a pigeon makes in Japan is "Kuruppo" or "Poppo". "PO!" being the shortened version.
