This is the first track on the Enemy of the Sun album
"Are you lost?"
"Yes."
"Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well, yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless."
"Are you lost?"
My eyes were jaded, so close to the center I could not see
But now they are fixed and glaring at the sacrifice to be made
Now that I'm aware of the cycles I pray that I can deal
Now that I have shown you these cycles I pray that you can feel
In and out of the stray
Taking the bait
Feeling compelled to obey, betray
The isle of await
Running scared from their thought
Thinking I can summon some ancient truth before wrong
Seeking my nature, our nature with fear of being caught
Or have we been like this all along
Or have we been like this all along
The dawn of birth gives way to men
Age brings dimness to sight as it must
Age brings dimness to sight as it must
Death seals the eyelids on darkness once again
Augmentation of the dust
Or have we been like this all along
Or have we been like this all along
Enemy of the Sun:
1.Lost
2.Raze the stray
3.Burning Flesh in the Year of Pig
4.Cold Ascending
5.Lexicon
6.Enemy of the Sun
7.The Time of the Beasts
8.Cleanse
More Neurosis Coming Soon!

No matter your taste in music, you cannot unhear that they are extremely good musicians delivering long songs with weird composition even live, and they are creative and unique. Most will not appreciate the vocals, the mood, the ambience, but their skill is notable from the first minutes of their songs. Are you lost?

I took my girlfriend to see these guys about 5 years ago. They headlined over YOB and BL'AST. She had a broken leg so we had to sit at a booth at the venue but I had the time of my life, and she had a headache lol she does not like heavy music one bit but she made it through the heaviest of all with a broken leg and migraine. while everybody else was just slowing down punk songs and doing bad tony iommi impressions, neurosis was out here making something timeless. this makes EHG and Crowbar sound like the radio.

Early summer of '94, a few friends and I had a bonfire and were eating gold fleck liberty caps and drinking mushroom tea. My friend Jack was like "Y'all wanna hear something that'll make your head explode?" and he pops this in the CD player. I've been a fan ever since.

Very similar introduction to them as well.. But it was bladder acid, my best friend had the cassette and " are u lost?" Was the first thing I ever heard from them and I was HOOKEDDD!! There's only a handful of babds that are life changing in our lifetimes, and they were one of them. I was in a big Death Metal world that my love of thrash got me to.. But Neurosis, Eyehategod, Buzzov-en is when I was getting mind blown into realizing how u could make music that was soooo heavy at a slower pace, with sick vocals but not DM vocals. Those bands opened my mind to that and I was never the same ever since!!! Lol

When I was in my 20's I found a music store that had a whole section of indie and obscure stuff. That's where I first discovered this band and this song. 20 years later I had all but forgotten the song's name as well as the band. Having nothing but the Paul Bowels quote to narrow my search and even that I couldn't remember all of. Well after watching an interview with Brandon Lee where he qoutes the same Paul Bowels quote brought a surge of memories back and I finally found this song again.

Why would one call bullshit? Especially with Buzzov-en( another favorite band ever btw) involved of course there were drugs, lol first time I met Eyehategod guys I copped them an 8 ball of fire coke at such a good wholesale price they thought I was trying to rip them off til they tried it, lol First time meeting Hank The III I sokd him 20 yellow Xanax bars, lol I also got drugs for ECW Legend Sabu at a ECW Show! @@scottprince1440 glad to hear he's doing good, especially with Buzzov-en members past drug issues and shit ( none like Kirk of course lol) hell that heroin got ahold of me as well!! Guess all us musicians playing tht dirty sludgy sound with punk roots naturally enjoy the strong opiate buzz?? Lol I wish Kirk could keep it together long enough( on his methadone or something) to put a new record out at the least!! I bet tht show especially on good acid was a religious experience!! Cause I got to see them headlining( getting the full set experience, unlike whn I seen them open for Pantera a couple times which was still good of course but nothing like the full experience!!)on Through Silver in Blood tour with Eyehategod opening touring on Take As Needed for Pain on 15 of the 10mg Valium cut-outs and it was that for me so I can only imagine on good lsd with Buzzov-en in their prime as the opener!! The dream gig( for me and my personal tastes)tht I see flyers for a bunch back then was Buzzov-en, EHG& GG Allin&The Murder Junkies!! I just imagine chaotic euphoria 😂 idk how a promoter wasnt sxared shitless to book that line-up? I imagine the heroin use and whiskey drinking was at peak levels

I get that. Souls was the transition from their post-punk, pre-crust vibe, into the crushingly soul destroying chasm of nighmares that was their future work. Souls at Zero lives on the knife's edge between those universes. And yes, it's a brief but wonderful part of their catalog.
