I needed so much this. I cried. In my country, in the state where I live, the police aren't working, so there is a lot of robbery, killing, etc. Even the citzens are stoling stores, stocking food supplies. Pray for Brazil, and the state of Espírito Santo (which means: Holy Spirit)

At this time in my life I am daily overcome by sexual temptation. So much so that I often lose hope in ever breaking free from my addiction to pornography.This video is perfectly timed for the trials I am currently going through. I cried for hours last night because my hope was crushed. This morning, I'm looking for something to revive me. I thought a sermon on hope would help, and this man's words was life giving. Jesus is the God of Life giving Hope.
Romans 15:13 - "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope" - bi-directional words; talking to Romans, but asking God to do it. Let's call on God to do things for us. "God of hope" - means God who GIVES hope (through the Word). "in believing" - joy and peace filling inside us THROUGH BELIEVING the promises of God (faith). "so that..." - believing leads to hope, faith is the hope of things to come --> SO: we rejoice in tribulation knowing it works patience which works approvedness which works hope - so our joy in tribulation is rooted first in promises of God of hope (began in hope) but as we are proven in experience of life and peace/joy rises up, we have MORE HOPE - hope to joy/peace to experience in trial to more hope.

I experienced so much hope WHILE going through something very trying yesterday. I knew that in those minutes God was working it out for the good even if it was hard. And I had faith that God would produce in that hard moment a great learning and growth. And it did! I was able to see Christ even in that tribulation and know that He's still in control! And He worked in such a GREAT way!
such great truths expressed in only 6 minutes. joy filled and Spirit led words. if someone tries saying exact same things word for word, it wouldn’t have same impact. there is some deep authenticity in Pipers life which makes all the difference. this man breathes joy in Christ.
I love Pastor John for his real, rubber-meets-the-road, visceral, reading, understanding, and application of the Bible --- but I don't see how the title "Never Abandon Hope" goes with what he said (?) --- maybe the title gave me different expectations than what was intended.

Greeting Pastor John! At 6:31 you said to where we get to the place where we walk by sight and not by faith anymore. I know u meant; walk by faith and not by sight anymore. When he says "walk by sight and not by faith anymore", he's referring to our future in paradise - when we will actually be with Christ. Currently we definitely walk by faith and not sight, but our walk with Christ in this life is all leading up to the "glory that will be revealed". Then finally, faith and sight will work together and we shall "know fully, even as we are fully known" (1 Corinthians 13:12). Blessings.
A STORY OF HOPE A long time ago, there was an Inuit family high up in the Arctic. It was a terrible year for hunting, and for months the weather was extremely cold. There were very few animals to hunt in the area, and so the family decided they would have to travel south in search of better hunting grounds. When they started their journey south, the walk became long and hard, and they had very little food to eat. Their grandmother was very old and slowing them down. It was a tradition in those days to leave the old folks behind in hopes that the rest of the family might survive. So they said their goodbyes and left her standing alone on the ice. Later that day, a polar bear saw her and started to hunt her down, but she was too slow to escape. As the polar bear got close to her, she took off her big fur mitt and put it on the end of her narwhal walking stick. She then stood there very still and quiet, making no sound or movement. As the polar bear got within feet of her, it opened its mouth to bite her, and at that very moment, she shoved the mitten down the polar bear’s throat choking him. It wasn’t able to breathe, and it died. She walked all day and through the night and was able to catch up with her family, and she told them what had happened. They went back to the polar bear, and it gave them enough food to survive until the spring. So you see, there is always hope, even in the very last moments of certain death, there is always a chance things can get better. Perhaps another door was or will be opened for you.. a door that will lead you to something better... perhap what tou ask was something less than what He actually prepared for you... He has something greater than what you’ve been asking for. Perhaps He have shown you or is about to show you something you’ve never expected and i pray you will have the discernment to notice it. I may not understand your situation right now, my brother Peter, but take heart and be strong in the Lord. You are Peter, he calls you Peter for a reason... remember how Peter (his disciple) have doubted and denied him and yet Jesus never gave up on him, prayed fervently for him and entrusted him His sheeps. Hang on, every second you spend is a second closer to your miracle. ❤️ we may not understand the works of his hands but we can always trust His heart.

is tribulation even tribulation if we have peace about it? joy, maybe, because it is all part of an adventure with God, and hope, by simultaneous joy and suffering, but peace has been extremely hard to find in all this madness. I almost feel guilty about having peace under such dire circumstances, and have found myself angry at those put it on the frontier of our walk with God. I have not made peace with my sin, nor will i accept a peace that doesn’t rest in truth. in other words peace is secondary and subject to truth. The pain and discomfort and sense of responsibility I feel in all this mess have often been my motivation to press on and grow in Christ, the basis of most of my interaction with God, and the bridge to insight and revelations of Him. They feel as almost as a byproduct of my commitments, because of effectual spiritual warfare. idk. what complexities we all possess!
Even though you feel like giving up on everything, Jesus won't give up on you . I've given up more times than I can count , and I still come back to Jesus . I want to give you another word which has been tried , through pain and despair . @@oreadis If Jesus had wanted up show up in my life, I'm sure He would have found ways to do it; it would have happened a long time ago. Now, I don't care because I have nothing to ask Him for. If He really had wanted to do me good, He wouldn't have brought me to this world in the first place but He did anyway. He will never ever be able to make me happy, neither in this life nor on the afterlife.
I believe he was mentioning that last phrase as in reference to glory. There will be no more need for hope, for why hope in what you see? We won't have to walk by faith due to there being sight and we will see our hope namely God! Hope that helps.

We walk by sight and not by faith anymore means when we get to the place which he means heaven we will see our father we will see all the treasures of heaven that we won't need to live just by faith anymore cause we will now see all the for what heaven in store for us
Whenever i cant find repentance, I ask the Lord to lead me to repentance. I dont know if youve tried it (im sure you have) but that always works for me. God will not forsake us brother. He knows the heart and if the Spirit within you craves the Lord, he will deliver. I love you man. I hope you can find peace in Jesus.
Good words, pastor John but at the very end you say, “walk by sight and not faith”. I think you meant to say, “when we get to the place and walk by faith and not sight”.
I'm fairly certain that he meant to say that one day we will walk by sight and not by faith. We walk by faith now, but one day, in Heaven, we'll walk by sight.
