Never Have I Ever... Cuban Cuisine 

As a daughter of Cuban parents I am so glad you loved the food! It is delicious. Also I liked how you integrated the history after trying each dish/item. Some other yummy options to try next time if you go back to that restaurant : yuca, ham croquettes, guava and cheese pastries and pollo a la plancha (not all together of course haha) Tfs!

Hi Christine, I'm a long-time follower and fan. I'm Cuban-American and I live in Miami. Thank you so much for showcasing our wonderful food. I'm lucky enough to eat what you presented as well as other Cuban food all the time. Just some comments: There is definitely no "tortilla" in Cuban food, at least not how you meant. In Cuban cuisine, tortilla is what we call omelettes. There is no hot spice in Cuban food, except in extremely rare instances, and even then, it's not really a thing. Puerto Rican mojo and Cuban mojo are different - typical Cuban mojo will not have cilantro, Cuban mojo is basically Sour Orange (that's an actual fruit) juice, garlic, and olive oil. The chicken sandwich you had is not a typical Cuban sandwich option, if you ever go back I recommend you get Pan con Lechón (roast pork sandwich) which is Cuban bread, marinated roast pork, smothered in sauteed onions, and Cuban mojo. And of course, you should try an actual Cuban sandwich, or as some people call it, a Cubano - it shouldn't have lettuce or tomato - it should be Cuban bread with mustard, dill pickle, roast pork, sweet ham, and Swiss cheese, and then the sandwich is pressed - nothing more nothing less. Unless you're eating the Tampa version of the Cuban sandwich, to which they add salami - a fun debate in Cuban circles. Pastelito de Carne is my favorite Cuban pastry, but try the Guava pastry and the Guava and Cheese pastry - those are sweet, delicious, and very traditional. I suggest you try a regular Cuban coffee (Cafecito), it's served in a tiny cup - like a demitasse - or in a plastic thimble-sized cup, it's very dark and sweet. This was BY FAR my favorite of this episode that you’ve done so far! Such an amazing thing for you to take advantage of your semi-sheltered food repertoire to give us your experience. I’ve also never had Cuban food, and now I will try some. I do think that if you give a business such glowing feedback like this one, you should name the restaurant! Obviously, if the food is terrible don’t out them (unless they deserve it! Haha). But if the good small business could benefit even just a little bit from your shoutout, then what an amazing thing you’ve done for them!

I love your Never Have I Ever, videos. Lived in South Florida for a while and love Cuban food. Couldn't stop laughing with you at the food review and yes the flavors are awesome as well as the food. If you like the mixed flavors of Cuban food, I'd suggest Moroccan food. But TBH, you've just scratched the surface of Cuban food. There are so many other delicious dishes you can try. I LOVE this series!! You make me cry laughing each time. You're a natural comedian. As someone who was raised with the type of food you tried today (Portuguese, French etc) in Europe, the fast food made me squirm a bit - I know, I know, but we don't do fast food like you guys do in the States I feel like. If you could move to home-made types of foods it would be awesome! It was so wholesome. And you're not going to like everything for sure but at least it will be nicer, non-industrial stuff?

Ohhhhhh! I’m an Illinois Cuban and I know EXACTLY what restaurant this is - I go 2x/week! I am so so so happy you enjoy the food! I highly recommend trying the sodas! Materva is from Yerba Mate and is like a cream soda. Jupina is a pineapple soda. My favorite is Ironbeer - it’s a delightfully light and fruity Dr Pepper taste. There’s actually 4 kinds of ways to serve Cuban coffee: Cafecito, Colada, Cortadito, and the Cafe con Leche that you had. Check out Cafecito for sure, but make sure you have a friend to share the Colada - lots of caffeine. So good though I’m seriously so happy you enjoyed the food and the comments here are so positive!

When you go back, you need to try empanadas, tostones, yuca frita, and pressed and buttered Cuban bread. You dip it in your Cuban coffee. I'm from Florida and I'm Cuban. This is my favorite breakfast.

Try Puerto Rican food next! As a Puerto Rican, my opinion is a little biased, but I feel like it's the best. Pasteles, alcapurrias, rice and beans, pork shoulder, etc. It's delicious! And try some Puerto Rican flan for a sweet treat or a quesito if it's available!

Never had Cuban food myself ! And now I really want to try it! But I live in a town that I don’t think even has authentic Cuban food. It’s probably all Americanized, and bland 😅 time for me to do some research of my own and find it!
