I was hoping that after the Hobbit trilogy we would see one... but it appears that the whole hobbit was a giant mess and they really drop the quality ball there with those movies and who knows what was the deal with games based on the Hobbit because there where surprisingly very few games made... I guess people notice the quality change and really didn't care that much to inspire EA or another company to do an RTS.

Dude the hobbit wasn't a giant messs, sure it wasnt as good as LOTR but it was brilliant in its own way

Drunk Monk yeah, its better than a lot of other Fantasy movies...but it really falls very very short to its predecessor LOTR... which is weird since it was the same production team, same director and actors.... at the very least they saw what worked on the LOTR and didn't learn from their experience in the first one...Hobbit is better than other fantasy movies but it doesn't add to what was achieve in the first trilogy or even attempts to at least try to compare...I don't know if in the second movie the studio executives where more involve with the list of "Things that must be cover" in every big studio movie... they also seemed to have way less money... just comparing the 2 movies side by side is hard... the difference is evident in story telling, cinematography effects, abuse of CGI etc. at the end who knows what other problems it had that it didn't inspire as many games as LOTR did. I would have loved to see a new RTS based in this period. After seeing the Hobbit I'm afraid that they some day decide to do the Silmarillion and do it with even less budget worst actors just to try to get some nostalgic fast bucks.

I'm pretty sure EA lost the license for making Lord of the Rings games. Plus, I don't think these games made enough money for them to make another one.

there is a fan project called BFME Reforged and its using newer engines so that you can play it on the newer pcs. best part is that its on its own launcher so you dont need the game to play once it comes out to open beta

Archers with fire arrows, easy counter to cave trolls. Also arrow towers are very effective for securing locations, you just have too stick a archer group in there with upgraded arrows, and you mass kill units who approach you. Very good early game security, just make sure you have a Calvary force to counter catapults.

You made me remember why I quit playing this game, these abilities destroying all these nice armies was just frustratin xD I remember playing the firstgame as a kid it was great. I'd just do something like spam a troll army, then slowly build it up to an army with lvl 10 Olog-Hai as I killed one opponent after the other (AI because I didn't have internet to play).

I used to use arrow towers too, but the community advised against it as once the players start spawning towers, the game's likely gonna reach a stalemate.

MOUTH OF SAURON! DONT MAKE IT WORSE PIXIE!!! hahaha also arrow towers are amazing. especially for elves. a well placed tower with some mirkwood archers inside can cover a significant part of the map. with silverthorn arrows a mumakil will not get to the tower before it dies.

FYI Mumakils or Oliphaunts is not natives of Rhun. they are from Harad and Khand. and Saurons mouth has a name, but it is long since forgotten, even by himself.

What do people use to play this game multiplayer now? The EA servers are down if I remember right but I would love to play it again! The Rise of the Witch King Expansion especially. Great to see you posting commentaries of it Pixelated! Amazing game
