In this video of my motovlog series of The Netherlands, I am exploring Zuid-Limburg. First we go to the highest point in the country: at 322 meters above sea-level, which is situated right at the border with Germany and Belgium.
After that, I explore the ENCI quarry and the underground tunnels of Maastricht. What a fascinating area and who knew that the world famous Rembrandt painting the 'Night Watch' was stored in a deep, underground vault during World War II!

Just showing how beautiful Europe is as well. The free borders is a great thing, especially after seeing this Armenia, Azerbaijan area where you can't go if you have been somewhere else before. The people you interact with are friendly as well, of course different to seeing a visitor/stranger once a year :)

I agree, the freedom to go wherever we want is in my opinion the best thing the EU has done for it's citizens. I remember when I was a kid there where still passport checks at the border to the netherlands. Later the border guards were still there but mostly didn't bother stopping anyone anymore, until one day there where complete gone. But it is a constant struggle, there are always people wanting to rebuild fences, corona doesn't help either..

Amazed to hear that the Germans cooperated with the Dutch guards to preserve those priceless paintings. I always heard that they used to steal the artworks.

AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! Great drone videos. That lone tower shooting up in the middle of the forest at 3:20 reminded me of a scene in one of the Star Wars movies. Thanks for the Geology and History lessons. The underground tour and it being used to save people was a joy, however, not too thrilled with what the Nazis did with it and people's possessions. 🙏🏼 Thanks to the ingenuity of the Dutch guards these items were preserved. Thanks for your time and sharing this information. Looking forward to your next one. Take care and ride safe. 🖖🏽🤟🏽🇨🇦

It just brought home how huge this country is and how far the distances are we travel from day to day down here in Australia. Hello everyone, here's Noraly travelling from Chile to Argentina to Chile to Hang on, it's even better... Netherlands to a wrong turn and dip into Germany, then back to the Netherlands with as much hassle as we get riding from Staffordshire into Shropshire into Wales and back into Shropshire and Staffordshire. You make it look so easy. I loved the ride with you, sat amazed as we entered and toured the tunnels with you, learned a lot about the geological landscape and marvelled at the easing of lockdown during this strange and, for some, dangerous time. How lucky we are and how grateful I am to be able to still be here to enjoy it. All the countries of the EU, soon to exclude the UK, have open borders - you don't need to show a passport if travelling on land. Air travel is different, because they need to verify who you are before flying.
@andrewduckett2556
@andrewduckett2556 4 года назад
I'm sorry tessellater but I have to correct you, the passport free travel area has never been across the whole EU only the countries signed up to the Schengen accord. Also the UK has already left on 31/12/19, it is currently in a transition phase, but since it was one of the countries not in the Schengen zone you have always needed travel documents to go there.

1815, The Battle of Waterloo, The Last Battle between France and Great Britain before The Battle of Navarino 12 years later. Of course, The Napoleon Wars after Napoleon took over France in 1799. Of course, France supplied French Ships and Munitions to Separatists during The American Revolution, and Nathaniel Rothschild connived his way into winning the bid on the loan for The Reparations of France during The Battle of Waterloo in Belgium in 1815. Of course, Nathaniel Rothschild's brother, James Rothschild, supported Napoleon while Nathaniel Rothschild in Germany backed The British. Of course, King Frederick II married Princess Mary, the daughter of King George II who supplied over 30,000 Troops that occupied The Delaware in Trenton, NJ when George Washington crossed The Delaware. They also occupied Newport, Rhode Island as well. King Frederick II, brother of Prince William Landgrave IX, sons of King Frederick The Great. Mayer Amschel Rothschild was an agent of Prince William Landgrave IX, Nathaniel Rothschild's father. Of course, I can provide sources on that info hardly ever mentioned. Of course, The Rothschilds worked their way into The United States through August Belmont in the early 1800s, and Forbes Magazine reported that Trump's Right Hand Man, Wilbur Ross, was a chairman for The Rothschild Banking Barons for 23 years & The New York Times reported that Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild funded Hillary Clinton's and the late Sen. John McCain's Campaigns. Of course, there is a lot that happened after The Rothschilds worked their way into The United States through August Belmont. Oh...secret things that shouldn't be secret. Of course, it is sad that so many secrets are kept from us all especially when The United States wasn't based on secrets. Of course, there were no walls under The Liberty Tree in Boston, MA and no secrets. President Jimmy Carter wrote about Baron Lionel Walter Rothschild who signed The Balfour Declaration of November, 1917 that led to the re-establishment of Israel in 1948 after The British fought the Ottoman Empire for control over Palestine before Israel was re-established in Palestine on May 14th, 1948. Of course, The Balfour Delaration is also mentioned on Winston Churchill's Website along with Chaim Weismann, a Russian Scientist, and The Rothschilds. Of course, I know history a little bit more than others since my direct ancestor is one of the reasons for our U.S. First Amendment (Establishment Clause). Thank you Noraly for your tour. I just though you should know a few important facts when it comes to 1815. I could mention more, but it might become censored.

@Itchy So very nice to see you in my city. The South of Limburg is a fantastic area for making beautiful motorcycle-trips on small roads. Too bad that one of the best motorcycle-trips, the Mergelland-route, probably will be closed for motorcycles because of "noise-pollution". Very proud you made this video. Do you know how in Maastricht the "Helpoort" got its name? In medieval times at sunset all the gates to enter the city were closed. If you wanted to enter the city as a merchant with horse and carriage you were allowed to do this at this very small gate. Trying to fit through this entrance was like hel. Hence the name.

Love the videos of your fascinating home country. So many interesting things of the Netherlands you've covered that I've always been curious about. Keep the videos coming, Noraly!

We are exploring Germany, Nederlands and Belgium. 3 in tree seconds. I hope the whole world will be like that in some years.

Wow! Another mine! This one is much less scary. Also loved seeing the cave house, with lace curtains - you have a knack for finding the most amazing places on this amazing planet, love it. Think of the work to make such tunnels :O Comparable to the stone walls of New England may be. BTW I got my bike on the road again today so I have to go now, Ciao!

Very cool Noraly! Thank you for sharing your rides. I also love motorcycles, been riding since I was nine. I had a stroke 3 years ago and no longer ride. Now YOU are my motorcycle adventures!

Thank-you, Noraly! In the drone footage in the beginning, what was that large tower?

That is a "view tower", or in Dutch "uitzicht toren" at the "drie-landen-punt" (litt: "three-countries-point"), see www.tripadvisor.nl/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g1087458-d2258429-i54780148-Drielandenpunt-Vaals_Limburg_Province.html

Don't forget to eat some 'vlaai' in the number 1 vlaai-city in the province and therefore country and therefore world; Weert! 😀 BTW as a child I went inside the mountain with my schoolclass and we were told that several people in history got lost inside the mountain. When their flashlight or lantern failed it was impossible for them to find their way out again! Their dead bodies were found later but missing the fingertips; these peoples' fingers were worn-out by searching the walls over and over again, trying to make it to the exit. Now sleep well tonite and give thanks for electricity! …
