NEVER TOO SMALL Hong Kong Walk-Up Tiny Apartment - 25sqm/269sqft

Architects and interior designers PMDL Architecture + Design have recently completed a renovation of a 1960s five storey walk-up building on one of Hong Kong Island’s busiest thoroughfares. The building consists of five apartments above retail at ground level. Each apartment, with an area of 25m2, is designed around a service wall which implies a subdivision of the apartment while not minimising sense of space. www.pmdl.com.au/

This plan avoids many of the problems seen in other "tiny" apartments. It has a normal double bed in a private compartment (not a loft bed, a Murphy bed or convertible couch), a kitchen with decent-sized fridge and counter space, and a shower stall (not a wet room). I could live in this one!

I have more free space than I had in 40 square meters flat - different layout. And I am not minimalist - I got quite much staff. Also I find flat from video a little claustrophobic - too much furniture, big kitchen taking too much space and that small space that left is divided :/

Saying would not make special arrangements for such curved walls. To be on the safe side I self installed. @Azius he made some good points. I grew up in Hong Kong and now study in Australia. I thought that having a living space the size of a one bedroom unit for 4 people was common until I came here. I would never consider working and living in Hong Kong; it is far too claustrophobic.

What a beautiful place to live. I love how the place flows. The curved windows really add some interest to this place.....and the concept of running windows around most of the place was genus.....adding light which opened up the space, making it appear much larger. The place is clean and modern without feeling cold and uninviting. Nice use of woods with metals. The designer and architects were able to see the potential in this old building and think outside the box and reimagine how the space cold be used in a functional manner while still adhering to the form. Bravo!

I love the view and the interior design. I wish that more and more people make small space a thing. Currently we waste so much space in modern homes. Ideas like these can decrease money spent on buying and building homes way less than it is. I hope I live in a beautiful space as this one.
@guybrushthreepwood7612

@@guybrushthreepwood7612 how is that even possible? You cannot just make a claim and then expect people to believe? Please give a logical reasoning.
@guybrushthreepwood7612

@@islandsunset Well I can only speak about the western capital I am living in. There is a massive missbalance between amount of people looking for a flat and the offer of payable appartments. One of the most profitable business is here to take e.g. a 3 room flat and create 3 one room studios out of it. Relatively the people pay then more for this smaller flats then. It is a good business for the owner. Same with the tiny appartments...more people per space = means more profit. It goes so far that here people in their 40s start to live again in shared flat like when they were Students. They "market" this as alternative and new lifestyle but to sum up it is just a reactions to the ridculous market prices!!! Also as soon as you have a partner or kids this whole thing is not working. Then we are going in the directions like in the US where people live in trailer parks. Can you imagine living in a trailer would be advertised as "Cool and Trendy"?
