@@aR0ttenBANANA Rudy has a fandom who trust what he says, he makes finance videos and people ask for his advices on patreon. Buts its not only about the trust of his die hard fans, but also about casual viewers that laugh at his jokes and like to watch his openings. Rudy's comments, analysis and attitude toward a product have an impact on people and the market. But he has interests in it. A lot of his comments are not objective analysis but it is presented that way. It surely impacts Rudy's fandom who trust him but also non-informed viewers and even informed people because repetition of the same idea influence people. Also the way he titles his videos, making fun of his detractors. I really think a big proportion of his viewership tend to trust the funny millionnaire who is making his fortune with the hobby we all love. Even people who dont watch his videos to seek his counsel. What do you think?
@@brunomarion7151 honestly the product has beautiful cards, granted a 50 dollar return on 100 dollar packs is fucking garbage, of course a salesman will sell the product, dont ask a cars salesman how good a car is, same with anyone trying to make money, they will try to sell you the product, its their job and its not about honesty when you're selling stuff. objective analysis of this product like all of mtgs expensive product is this is betyter than buying collector boosters of standard... fucking 30 dollar standard packs are far worse. still duh anyone with half a brain is not going to take everything a salesman says as truthful. that being said most people dont have half a brain
@@alexisleftist778 you're right about the cards, they are beautiful and thats why I watch those videos. You can get crushed opening a case of VIP and that makes interesting videos to watch. I deeply disagree with you on another point, lying to sell stuff is dishonest. Its not because you have an interest to lie, even a capitalist one, that its acceptable. But since we are being lying to every day since we are a child, we tend to see it as normal. Also I dont think people who dont realise that Rudy's comments are always formulated for his own interest are brain dead. Its not like a cars salesman, because he doesnt appear a priori as a salesman. Since he limited the number of patrons on patreon he doesnt publicize it, he never tries to directly sell stuff to viewers.
Its quite impressive that he got this many patreons to spend $1600 each to get... what, like 16-20 mythics? For that price you could get a PS4 Pro, an X Box One X, a Nintendo Switch, and a rediculous amount of games for all of those consoles. You could buy a flamethrower that spits fire up to 50 feet. You could buy a very nice gaming setup. Instead they spend their money on some flashy cards which they could buy for 30 or 50% of the price if they don't want the flashy version... ouch indeed.
@@vert2048 The average person buying cases of these already have all of those things. It's VIP for a reason aka rich people with lots of spending money who like shiny cardboard rectangles. Myself included.
@James Brincefield not only have I never heard anyone else say it, I've never heard this person say it. I read the comments on all the videos on this channel and there's not a single reply from Broken Games claiming that MTG is a scam in plain sight.
@@Hyper-Reality Don't you think that they try to make money off of it by hitting the lottery? Although selling is a nightmare. Either it takes forever or you only get 60-70% by selling to buylist.
@@gibbysg8143 because some people do it as an investment and for fun I mean i did and it is worth it in the end and thats on top of the other 18 my friends and I bought and this has nothing to do with having a lot of money
$30 card in a $110~ pack is like getting a $3 rare in a $10 pack (ultimate masters packs cost more, making it even worse) and you SHIT ON $3 rares in packs that are around that expensive. Hell if you don't hit at least a $5 rare in a $10 most people are upset since you basically are guaranteed to lose money (and those cards tend to be less desirable). So yeah, I'd consider a $30-$40 card in these packs to be a bad pull unless I'm getting other big hits along with it (not garbage like m-mage). VIP boosters remain pretty all-in and DEFINITELY not worth it unless you can buy a bunch of them and even then IMO not worth it. Rather just buy a whole fuckin box of something else and have a great time rippin packs than buy 4 of these and probably get fucked.
Rudy, the problem with getting 2 low to mid-range box toppers is that you're paying $100+ for a single pack. The price point is so absurdly high per pack that you need to open big hits or you're on the express bus to frown town.
@@nicolasannawn5715 People that get expensive reprints always refuse to sell those cheap, reprint or not the valuable mythic s appear like 1 per case still making them 100+ x more expensive then a proxy and the reserve list is still not being reprint ass of now
@@brokengames9020 I like how you edited in the "and you know it". No, I have autonomy and can decide on my own whether or not a product is worth my time. If I like a set, I buy it. If I don't like it, I don't buy it. Consumer choice. It's a thing. A novel concept. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything. I don't think you grasp that.
Opened a case yesterday of 4 packs. Got double borderless Batterskull and Fatal Push, AND two regular batterskull. Never had that happen before where both borderless showcase cards were the same in two packs back to back from the same case.
Watching this made me happy that the one and only VIP I bought had Deluge and Fire and Ice in it (and my non-foil box toppers being Rift and Doubling Season) F for the losses man.
Well Rudy you were asking before which is the worst video and got hosed the most... Welp it is certainly this guy. 7/16 mythics, while the average mythic pullrate being 66%. Only about 370$ made off the showcase mythics and a lot of bad showcase rares. The pack with Grim lavamancer, Bosh and showcase Crop Rotation/Council's Judgment literally is worth ~40 bucks even taking into account the foil manamorphose and unset land. F for respect... I guess.
I went full Timmy and bought one VIP pack from Amazon, and got a showcase Jace. Rated the delivery driver extremely high, wish I could have bought him a Taco.
Etched foil reprints destined to dilute "showcase topper" value. Is what I hear when Rudy talks about new flashy cards diluting the value of old flashy cards.
Only ever bought one VIP on a whim, got a foil Manamorphose, Bauble, Voice of Resurgence, Mana Echoes and Toxic Deluge and Jace as box toppers. Took that as a note that all my luck has been wasted on this and will never buy on again.
Hey Rudy, Im a Timmy here and tried to sign up to your Patron but everything is sold out. I love to "get cheap magic cards" but like I said im a TIMMY... what am I missing?
Just use Amazon. After the $15 you pay Rudy through Patreon, Amazon is about the same if you’re going to buy a couple regular booster boxes now and then.
Wish I could get the stay the course shirt. Rudy and that phrase has helped me so much over this year. But alas I must stay the course and can't afford 30 for a shirt. Be cool to frame it though
Value in just the mythics and rare slots was $1364 (Mtggoldfish 8-28-20). Definitely a loss, but not as much as you would think. Just shows how 1 or 2 big hits really make the opening. But I can't imagine that boxtopper expedition maps will hold at $19 for very long. Same with Fatal push at $15 and Meddling Mage at $12. The regular foil versions are 10x less valuable. I lived through the trading card and comic book crashes. This will not hold value like this for long.
I thought the very first opening was bad, but at least you pulled a FoW. This one is unredeemable. Not even the 2 moxes cut it. You got all the wrong swords also.
lol, no he doesn't but why would he, there's nothing in them he's interested in. He personally only collects old cards from the beginning of magic and reserve list cards.
@@JoshyBoy219 you must not read much. Look at that title, and I'm saying he's selling the VIP to his patrons. Where did I say he's keeping them for himself lol I'm not even going to reply if you comment again
Now that the hype has settled and the prices have leveled out I feel lucky I got hosed by Mystical Games. This VIP thing is a dumpster fire, you are hoping for a FOW and a Manacrypt to cover the cost of the other boxes not making it to 100 and I don't believe at this point it is worth the price of the VIP. You have sharks getting cases of this for an expedition map? Shelling out $1600 bucks for a chance to snare a FOW, and pulling these feels bad, never mind the Timmy's who can at best afford a pack or two. This was a dumpster fire from WOTC. Meddling Mage the regular card is as low as $1. The Urza lands they are cool but it's a 2 dollar card, they made a nicer version of a 2 dollar card and put it in a very expensive pack. It's one thing for a card to mature over time and be worth more, it's another charging 500 bucks for a new one. Sure secondary market does not exist, right...this is going to kill Magic one day " Double the Mystics " from one wrong move to the next.
