This box opening based on the 16 for 1600 comes to about half the value like the professors one box did. Meaning there are definitely boxes completely tanked in value.

Foil jaces are worth a bit more, about 130 ish. Just under 150. But still not worth the 1400 dollars for 4 cases of 4

Rudy is a scam in plain sight. Sells you a product for profit, but gets all the pleasure and fun of opening your packs. Then makes a few hundred dollars on the video opening YOUR cards. I don’t get why idiots do this. Let the multi-millionaire open his own product. I think the only thing Rudy has opened that belonged to him in all these years was a PreRelease kit.

I've never purchased anything from Rudy, I'm not even really into collecting Magic cards, I'm more of a pokemon person. So that should say enough about how likeable Rudy is. Especially given the box toppers/borderless/showcase whatever, total about 800ish dollars. And those are the bulk of the cash because the rares and uncommons cant possibly make up the other half of that investment. This person MIGHT have broken even if they only paid rudy's price of what... 80 bucks a box if they bought 16? Can't even find LGS' that let me do that. Because then it's about 1200. Otherwise, anyone who pays full price for a box like that probably lost at LEAST 600-800 (given if you sold the rest of the more expensive land, rares and uncommons and made about 1k after the borderless) at today's prices.

I think the rest of the cards _might_ total to $1200 but using Rudy's own logic (he's done many videos about selling online) this patron is hosed!! Try selling a lot of those singles on eBay and watch the listing fees, final value fees, PayPal fees, shipping supplies and shipping costs eat away the value to the point that you're losing 100's of dollars on this case. @Lloyd is 100% correct saying they can't break even.

When you add up the value of all the rares uncommons and mythics it would bet it's a lot close to 1200 than you think.

Yeah at $80 a pack which is crazy as is, theres no money to be made at all and at my locals packs went from $125 to now $140 and they sold out; ppl are out of their minds and even pulling a jace, mana crypt, and the angel will only be about $400 or so and even a force of will is another $400 or $500 so youd have to get multiple of all the best pulls every time to break even.....fuck that! Ill never spend $80 on one card let alone a pack where its a gamble.

The showcase value is closer to $1100 than $850. With regular cards like Dark Confidant, Toxic Deluge, Trinisphere and the other stuff he probably broke about even if he paid $100 a VIP. If the Patreon paid $80 he got much more value than the amount he paid.

Maybe if he paid under 100$ a box but good luck getting rid of all the other cards without significant time investment. Which should add to cost.

Strange. Your getting packs at random. No one is forcing anyone to buy them. It's all RNG. Does this make sense?

Opening hundreds of VIP boxes on camera is a valuable service because it allows the public to calculate a fairly accurate box EV, which can then be used to determine whether it makes sense to buy at current prices.

@@DreaminARealityTV these things are massively overpriced for what you get. Sure there's a chance to get some nice stuff, but more than likely you will lose money unless you buy upwards of 2 or 3 boxes.

i mean you got 300$ just from the 2 Jace but then you get alot of bs other than the Sword of Famine and Stone Forge Mystic but that is my type of case even thou you get hosed finanacially... 2x Jace, Blood Moon, Sword of Famine and Dark Confidant since i actually collect cards i like and play not just to invest

I don't think the first box was necessarily a hosed box, it wasn't good but you have to expect that most VIP packs will lose money because there's a chance you can quadruple what you paid with just one force of will

@@joshkirkfield well to actually make money you have to hit that force of will or mana vault or jace or avacyn.. then you have a bunch that will get you to even and then some combos like within that first 4 that will lose you some

@@michaeledwards1644 yeah, but you can't say you got hosed because you DIDN'T pull a money card, it's always a gamble and you probably won't make a profit. As you said, there are some less valuable but still playable cards, but as the Prof says, buy singles. For example, I really wanted Avacyn for my EDH deck, so I just bought it for less than the price of one single VIP pack in which I wouldn't have gotten what I wanted. VIP packs are like the lottery, but with a higher winrate and a lower jackpot.

I use all those worthless curled common foil garbage as mail stamp protection for the actual cards I'm shipping, and people are super happy for some reason to get random foil M20 plains.

The facts are professor has peasant views and a peasant methodology. I hate that he wants cards to have value so they can be resold, but wants products with high value reprints (which on a macro scale reduces prices for singles) to be peasant priced and destroy the value of MtG cards as a whole

People were happy pulling them in VIP Masters until the price went down.
