This is a pretty powerful anthem for anyone who has ever escaped a cult or other abusive power structure

You know what I just noticed? Listen closely: Yang tends to be symbolized by drumbeats (for obvious reasons) in her songs, and Blake is usually given a piano-but in Nevermore, it's reversed! When Blake's parts are performed, they're backed with drums; Yang, with piano. Appropriate? Clever? I think so.

3:47 - 4:15 Can we talk about this part for a second? I like how even though Adam was a huge piece of shit and they're happy to be free of him, they still sort of mourn him. Not because he didn't deserve what happened to him but because he was probably just another young Faunus whose life was destroyed by hate if you know what I mean. Also just in case I didn't make this clear enough, I'm not trying to justify Adam or his actions. I just like how they indicated that he probably wasn't always a monster. Sure he chose the path of violence but it's not like he just woke up one day and said "You know what? I'm kinda bored. I think I'm gonna start killing humans because I like death and violence so much."

What gets me about this song is that both Blake and Yang lament having to kill Adam. They took no pleasure in it and would have been perfectly content had he just left them be. They gave him every opportunity to leave and he made his choice to press the attack, flat out telling them he will never stop hunting them. Adam brought about his own ending, suffering the consequences of the path he chose. I also get chills at the"he'll see the light of day... nevermore" part.

I love that even though this song is clearly about Yang and Blake finally shaking the curse of Adam from them individually and as a unit, the bridge still offers the truth that all of this was unnecessary violence and pain brought on by a tortured boy who lost his fight against his own demons. Adam was a monster but he was also a tragedy and this song acknowledges that

What I love about this song is that it managed to portrait Blake and Yang's feelings individually. Regardless of the recent developments in their partnership (which I'm obviously super excited about), the conflict with Adam didn't just mean a lot for them as a unit, but also separately. Blake for her past of manipulation and spite with Adam, and Yang for the mutilation that she endured by his hands. I love that despite everything the song makes it clear that this is THEIR fight for multiple reasons. And I'm even happier to see how this brought them together again, we are so lucky to have this all portrayed in such an amazing song. And I have to give credit to those who worked on it because they actually got a second female vocalist for this! Makes me wonder if we'll see Casey and Adrienne collaborate on some other RWBY song in the future 👀

What i notice about Adam, is that he isn't *completely* blinded by the brand. But he willingly chose to put on the mask and further blind himself with the mask and blindfold. He could have still been seen, even use it as a way to gain a following, but he chose to cover it himself and blinded himself. Hella metaphors

The song is not a diss track but the realization of the tragedy that is Adam. Jeff got another banger on his hands folks and I can’t wait for the rest of the songs’ full releases. Great job as always Flynt!

One thing I'll always appreciate about this song is that while it's a justified take-down of Adam it shows both the morals of the characters and the fact that the situation that created Adam hasn't ended by having both Blake and Yang say they take no pleasure from Adam's death. That it's the story of someone who gave in to rage and spite. Which is good because it's a lead-in to the man directly responsible for sending Adam down this path: Jacques Schnee.

The final part of this song I love and that's because it addresses one of the issues brought by the community. What happened to Adam was a waste. Sad. Frustrating. He was destroyed by his own hate and spite and because of that so much potential was lost. I know a lot of people gripe about how they could have expanded on him more but at the same time, Adam's life and death reflect some people who I've known in life. There was so much there that could have been achieved but because of the path he walked, it was just...gone. We can gripe and be frustrated and sad and I feel that's the point Rooster Teeth was driving. Adam's death wasn't meant to be satisfying or joyful, celebrated. It's just...sad.

Keep in mind that neither of the girls WANTED to kill Adam. They hesitated. He had the option time and time again to leave them alone and never did. It’s not their fault that he left them no choice. What they did wasn’t murder; self-defense is NOT murder. It is protecting yourself and those you care about.

When Yang and Blake got rid of Adam, it made me pretty emotional - Adam has been haunting Blake's conscious ever since EP 1, Volume 1. To think that she can finally move forward knowing that an immense obstacle has been removed is just njdidsonsiodsi This song makes it even better uwuuwuw

This song is perfect. Adam would never stop and couldn't let go of his hate, his spite the way Blake did he did would've had a chance. but he didn't, and he suffered the consequences. Blake and Yang gave him all the opportunities and he said no each time, he got what he deserved. He would have never stopped BECAUSE THAT'S THE KIND OF PERSON HE IS. The show is about RWBY, and it's concluding this arc for Blake and Yang (yknow the B and Y in the show), it was a sad but necessary end and I can't wait for Blake and Yang to grow even more from this.

Im just gonna say this now, Casey Lee and Jeff Williams and the rest of the musical people at rt are literal gods, every song is perfectly woven together and the vocals are amazingly beautiful

Something always bothered me about Blake's scar: why is it an X? At first I thought it had something to do with her stitching it up, but that's not how stitching works. Then, when listening to this for the 100th time, it dawned on me: what if Adam stabbed her twice in the same spot? Once at some point before she left him, and a second time during the fall of Beacon. He tried to stab her in the exact same place in V6 E11 before she shadow-cloned herself away, so it makes sense. If this is true, it means Adam is even more of a psycho than we thought he was.
