I’m also still using the Late-2013 15-inch rMBP, it’s a friken tank. This is the first time I feel compelled to upgrade, but I think I’ll continue to hold out for the next refresh with WiFi 6 and the next gen chips since when I do eventually upgrade that next machine is going to be with me for at least another 6-7 years as well, so it’d be best if it’s as future proof as possible. Also hoping Apple will drop a 120Hz ProMotion display in the next one... probably won’t but one can only hope.

I definitely agree with ya! Having the latest tech inside to keep up for the next several years is ideal. Who knows if there will ever be that “perfect” laptop coming from Apple but this 16-inch is definitely close to it especially for those who have been holding off like you and I. If Apple were to bring 120Hz ProMotion to a laptop, I would only assume they would charge more for those type of displays so prices could start off at $3K+. With 9th gen processors being already 6+ months in, we could see another refresh in another 6 or so months when new next gen processors are out or even Apple could start using their own. I didn’t think WiFi 6 was a big deal but thought I’d mention it in the video since iPhone 11’s do support that technology already so why not put it in these laptop machines too. Maybe 2020 will be the year the MacBook Pro will get everything else consumers want on this 16-inch MacBook Pro but otherwise this current 16-inch is solid so far!

I also have 2013 MacBook Pro and I have been really satisfied with it all these years. It's so cool that the new 16 inch is actually smaller and lighter than it.

I wouldn’t say that. It’s not a performance comparison otherwise the title would have stated “performance/speed comparison”. Simply comparing them physically side by side. A performance comparison video could be done if that is something people want to see.

Great video. I‘ve been waiting for a redesigned keyboard that made me switch to the 16“ from my previous low powered 12“ MacBook 2016. So far I am really satisfied.

The Late 2013 15 inch model was my previous one also until I finally sold it and added in the amount to get this one. Still waiting in my custom spec to arrive.

upgrading from 2014 retina MacBook pro 13 inch. how's the keyswitches in new keyboard, compared to the 2013?

I get a lot of typos with the MacBook Pro 16 keyboard because I have noticed that you press gently on the very corners, the key clicks but there is no input. Do you have the same issue? I am pretty light with my fingers when typing so this became a problem. When a key klicks, I want it to register input.

I’m thinking of buying the base model 16 inch with 32 GB RAM. Will this be powerfull enough for Sony a6400 4K footage in FCPx? and if i want to use DaVinci resolve for the Same purpose, is the 8GB VRAM GPU a necessity for that?

I still can't decide on getting a MBP 16" or the next gen iPad Pro. The tablets are getting so good now (4k video/photo editing, note taking, music production) and cost pretty much half what the laptop does.

damn.. is apple trolling me with their pricing structure? the 2 upgrades i want most are out of my budget. id be satisfied with the 6core, 32 gb RAM, 2tb ssd, 5500m w.8g.... but its priced so closely to the the same build but with the 6core swapped for the 2.3 8core. like wtf mannnn... at that point i might as well pay the extra $100 to go from the 6-8... so i start looking at the 2.3ghz 8core build with the same specs listed before, which is out of my price range. so i tell myself "fck it, just get the base 2.6"... but that gpu upgrade is there for too cheap to pass up, and id need to have at least 1tb, which is a reasonably priced upgrade too.... and the cycle begins again..... ive been doing this for 3 hrs

Lol I hear ya it is a tough call. I think the 8-core preconfigured model has great specs for the price ($2799). RAM is still overpriced on these...

Is Wifi 6 really important if you use it only at home?

For the average household, current WiFi 5 is still okay. Having WiFi 6 on this machine though would be a nice feature to have especially for those consumers who keep their laptops for several years. iPhone 11 supports WiFi 6 so why not add it to the most current MacBook Pro?

Kiril M WiFi 6 isn’t a huge deal to not get this computer. I think with all the upgrades this 16-inch model got, it is a good time to upgrade if you’ve been holding out.
