First came the i30 N hot hatchback. Engineered and developed for Hyundai by an ex-BMW M Division engineer, it was an impressively accomplished first attempt at a genuinely sporting family car. Now, though, comes the Fastback version, and as we’ll discover, it’s a pretty good effort as well.
Priced at £29,995 (£500 more than the hatch) and using the same fundamental underpinnings as the 271bhp, front-wheel-drive i30 N that made its debut to such acclaim in 2017, the Fastback N is actually the third car from Hyundai’s new N Division. The second, the Veloster N, isn’t sold in Europe.

@@Somchai007 it's absolutely brilliant, even better then i thought. The difference between the driving modes is insane..in N mode it's as hard as you can imagine, no body roll what so ever, in Normal or Eco it's very comfy, comparable to a modern 3 series BMW. Seats are customizable in every aspect down to the lumbar support. The only slight downer as a daily driver is the mpg, but compared to the fun you get out of the car it's a no-issue

I purchased my Hyundai i30 Fastback N last week. Currently awaiting 19 plate delivery in the UK. I test drove the car and the day later purchased it. The looks of the car are incredible and the drive is great. My only fault would be the touchscreen but that is me being picky. The only issue with it is the plastic around the screen looks a little cheap. If it was metal then the car would have no faults for me. Great boot size. I play alot of snooker and it has no issues fitting the cue and case in the back

The only thing I don't like is that the interior looks cheap. But for the price you can't really complain though. I just wish I could upgrade that screen and make it look bigger and better

Another incredible car not available in the USA. And I love the Cream Grey color. Audi calls it Aviator Grey. Looking seriously at the Veloster N..wish I could get this color! The reviewers keep pushing the "Performance Blue"................

The noise is probably neutered a bit due to the GPF being added over the hatchback you’d have tested.

Alan Bowers gasoline particulate filter. All petrol cars will have them going forward, believe it’s due to WLTP regulations. BMW fit it to their cars and call it a PPF (petrol particulate filter), and on existing cars like the M140i, it means they can’t fit the M Performance Exhaust. I assume because the PPF has has to be retrofitted rather than being included as part of the original design.

I feel it might need little more refinement in agility! Perhaps the second generation might be well put.. nevertheless it has all that one desire's like sporty interior, handling, infotainment, speed/HP, spacious, yet maintains a sense of compactness and stylish exterior etc.. I wonder can a mountain bicycle fit in the boot, after folding its rear seats? ....and indeed, It has lots of scope!

I hope you don't mind if I say that those eyeglass frames do not suit you at all. They look much too heavy and bulky. I suggest that you look at some wire frames, and perhaps so called "frameless" ones for the bottom half of the lenses. Nice car and thanks for the review. It was also fascinating to see the Gran Canary scenery.

Hilarious comments. The amount of brand loyalty peeps buy into, comparisons with this and that car as if the manufacturer give any credence to armchair pundits. Engineering is Engineering, either done well or not, the badge snobs show there ignorance as soon as they open there mouths. Most individuals will never design or build let alone own 99% percent of any product, yet there’ll endlessly drone on about why their point counts. Yes Hyundai is trying hard, and got better looks than 3 years ago, and congratulations for that. I am sorry but personally I cannot stand those ugly tablets that are vomiting out of the dashboards everywhere, I just want to rip those off every time I see one....
