Class B+ RV Fans rejoice. Finally, specs that compete closely with the Sprinter, (without the Sprinters insanely expensive Parts/Repairs costs). Payload was always the biggest dilemma with the Transit, with the increased Payload/GVW maybe we can finally see some Class B+'s and Micro C Tranits with actual SLIDES like they have offered with the Sprinter for years. AWD is the Cherry on Top. Hey Leisure Travel Vans, you listening...

Whoo! I'm a Sprinter guy, but this sounds great. I really hope that Biturbo-AWD-Tenspeed combo comes to Europe.

Wish these had the seating position of the Sprinter. Sitting up that high provides a lot of safety advantages not to mention being lot easier to drive in congested urban areas when you can see over trucks.

I own a 2016 Chevy 15 passenger van 3500. The bench seats suck because there are no Individual seat belts in the chair they come out of the ceiling or no headrest. It is bumpy ride and the seats chatter. I use it as a family van. Now with the AWD coming out I'm excited to buy one. Hopefully I can get one with the Eco boost high roof all wheel drive.

This engine has been available in Europe for nearly two years. It's an interesting diesel and can produce over 220hp. The real interest is that it uses wet toothed belts running in the sump oil for timing and, I think, oil pump drive.

The 2L turbo diesel is neat, but I’ve been hoping for a bit now that the ranger raptor’s 3.2L diesel motor made it to NA’s F-150, transit and Ranger.

I'm glad that Ford decided to put out an AWD van.Even if it does sound like it primary a commercial van. Now hopefully ALL van manufacturers will start putting out AWD vans. Both commercial and passenger.The last time I looked it seemed like a used AWD Toyota van was rather expensive. Hopefully the competition will be beneficial for consumers.

The AWD will be a big seller with all the families wanting to use them for travel, and will be a good to have for bad weather deliveries.

I work on transits all the time and had been seeing the hubs ready for an axle. I have been waiting for them to bring it out.

Several year ago, my family bought a used 2001 Chevrolet Astro AWD minivan, which they still use to this day. It has over 130k miles on it and still runs well. Other than the Toyota Sienna, there are no new AWD minivans left on the market. I'm hoping that the 2020 Transit is a success and that it leads to more AWD V6 vans being available. The Astro is like a tank. They just keep snow tires on it year-round and it can go places and do things you would not expect. I would like to see TFL provide more coverage on the new Transit once it's out. Thanks.

Ford is doing all the right things. They're building vehicles that sell, putting in engines and trim combinations that make sense (offering a crew option and a diesel) yet keeping the base price down for the fleet customers. I love a lot of things Ford does (this) and I hate a lot of things ford does (new raptor) but they knocked it out of the park with the transit.

I've driven The Transit, Sprinter, Ram and Chev vans in my work. In terms of driving, the Transit is by far the best driving. It feels small, the steering and handling are sharp, the 6 speed auto is excellent, and all 3 engines are very good. They definitely need awd in the snow as traction is pretty poor with only rwd. I'm not sure about long term reliability. There have been a few minor issues with our Transits but nothing major.

It's something with the grill that makes me think of the first generation Fiat Doblò... But it may just be the angle its filmed from and the light setting that makes the vertical spokes more prominent

When I was on Denver last summer the power stroke team was at my sane hotel and they had the new raptor put front and it had a larger exhaust pipe and had the engine block heater cord in the front so that means DIESEL RAPTOR

I deliver packages in the country side. Some houses would have a long pathway about a 1/4 mile and sometimes have a mixture of gravel, sand or mud. The Ford Transit 250 AWD work great for the mud. It's like driving a Jeep with Quadratrac. Going from AWD to 4WD Low range.

It's pretty crazy to see what looks like a Focus ST wheel in a Transit van. The AWD diesel is an obvious winning choice for RVers that need a bit of extra traction. Plus, let's hope it will have a bit of a lift in that setup.

Hey does tfl think they can do a van comparison some time and gave us some numbers on how many vans each group sales.

Have there been any images of the interior of the crew version? This would appeal to me as an outdoor gear hauler that I could still drive everyday in the 130wb version with AWD.

An AWD version would be a godsent around here, the RWD transit I have is absolutely useless in even the lightest snow fall. Quality is not great either, plenty of issues to complain about like electrical and braking problems to report at just 40,000 km.

Transit doesn't need AWD. At least not the 350. I've driven all over Michigan this winter and not once have I been stuck. Outstanding van. Especially with the EcoBoost 3.5. TORQUE FOR DAYS!!!!

On the picture of the engines, the new 3.5L said PFDI, is that Port Fuel, Direct Injection? If so, this would be an important point to be left out of the report.

I wish someone would build a full 4×4 system in a van. I wouldn't think locking diffs and transfer case would be more expensive than those complex AWD systems.

i wish they made it with a real 4x4 system complete with bigger tires and a proper 2 or 3 inch lift over the 2wd version

They are a joy to drive compared to a traditional cargo van.

Glad to see this new biturbo 2.0 diesel since they cancelled the 1.5 turbo diesel for the Transit connect. But it’s a big price jump for one of these over the Connect.

Was there anything mentioned about increased towing ratings (especially for passenger van)? The wimpy towing ratings are the one thing about the Transit that doesn't fit my needs...

There’s a 7.3 liter gas “Godzilla” engine coming for 2020 super duty. Shoe horn one of those bad boys in here.

diesel in the ranger? nope. The reason that it works in the transit is because vans of a certain weight class are classified as 2b trucks (HD) which means way less stringent emissions standards and no requirement to post fuel economy numbers. Same reason the 3.2 I5 was only ever used in the transit, it would only meet emissions regs in the 2b class.

So will this van have a traditional transfer case to power the front wheels or some kind of pto off the transmission?

BUT did Ford remedy the "you have to take the entire body off to do engine repair" issues?
