Those Yellow Halogens are one of the reasons why there are more Haval Jolions on the road , I feel like kia is holding back on small things like the lights and sunroof, it’s a pity cause the Sonet is a very nice car.
Ah the life of a auto journalist, to see keyed ignition and remark what a bit of nostalgia it is😁. Still its kind of bad that the top spec doesn't have keyless start, especially for the price and all its rivals do. The reach for the steering wheel is not on alot of its rivals and the bench thing for me is a deal breaker. But the fact it has 6 airbags is quite good for the segment as is the turbo engine. Still if you're not getting the Suzuki or Toyota(most practical in its class) then its the Cherry.
I’ve had this car for about 7 months. The 1.5l LX CVT. Here are a few things I don’t like about the car. The windows auto system, no 60/40 seats, the halogen headlamps and mine unlike the other models doesn’t have a rear wiper. It’s a good car though and the fuel consumption is great.
That's one thing about the Sonet and Hyundai Venue that I hate, the lack of a rear wiper. I'd rather pay an extra R5 000 and have one rather than not having one, I miss it every single time I drive either in the rain or after the rain. Luckily on the Venue it's only on the bottom spec car, not sure about the Sonet though

Nice design, but the only reason I wouldn't recommend this car is the lack of 60/40 rear seat split. To me that's a deal breaker and makes the car impractical
@@michaelflinn7784... A few, I suppose. I had a Sandero a few years ago and the reason I loved it so much was that I could randomly fit in big-ish items in it, and passengers. I moved my sister from KZN to the Northern Cape with it... Carried a fridge, a microwave oven and her luggage. Both my mom and sister also fit in it. It wasn't ideal, but very useful that I could fold a seat, and have seating for 1 or 2 passengers at the back.
True. Led lights must be part of safety. Some of our roads are not well lit and these halogen lights are poor and can beam just about here. LED will be ideal and must be standard feature and part of EuroNCap rating
Very true it's not going to sell and because of that they will have to pull the plug. Honestly how does Kia expect to sell this car at that price with the Chinese giving us something way more value for money at less money?
Nice car, but don’t like how versions in other countries come with push to start, sunroof, wireless charger plus leds as standard. At top price should come with all of that. Might push buyers to other cars
What I find weird is how the Hyundai Venue has some of the features that this doesn't. The Hyundai-Kia relationship is a strange one. They really are just competing for the same market instead of having one suit a higher market than the other
If KIA rectified all the quirks you mention it could well have been best in class. No keyless entry, no stop start, no auto window, no 60/40 split rear seats, only 1 rear usb and rear centre seat belt...
I think it is because the car tries to learn your driving preference while new. That would be the only reason for the unpredictable acceleration response
I think the sonnet is better than the urban cruiser but is it worth it because nothing compares to the toyota resale value or should I wait for hylander

It's a premium car with cheap headlights. I am really disappointed with that. Suzuki Baleno comes with projector headlights in all of their trims, as well as it's direct competitor, Brezza and Urban Cruiser. I don't understand why Kia is still on the cheap reflector headlights while other car manufacturers are moving ahead with LED technology
Juliet McGuire did one, you can look her channel up, I'm sure you'll enjoy her style. She's local and quite popular. The bad news is she hated it. From what I can tell, the only good thing about that car is maybe its looks.

@@michaelflinn7784 A lot of crossovers and subcompact cars have 3cyl engines with 110-130+ horsepower out of it. They’re very common here in the UK, including the best selling car in the UK the Vauxhall Corsa. Look at the new Fiesta ST MK8, that has 197 horsepower out of a 3cyl. And plus, I have no opinion on those figures; I gave them because Ciro didn’t mention them in the video.

Do you ever verify the consumption indicator. The only car that I have had that is ever close is a VW. Wifes Honda says 11.8 km/l in reality its closer to 10.5km /l and my Fortuner over estimates by about 15%. In your reports it would be good to get an actual consumption.
11:45 Euh all my French buddies pronounce it as "so-nette" which is the same as doorbells in French 😅 the main thing for me is that it has not been crash tested despite being out for 2 years now.. That's kinda fishy for me
those that are scared of the Chinese because I feel it's the best non-Chinese product in the segment. The only thing it really lacks is LED daytime running lights
Oh, I investigated the competition thoroughly, and the Sonet and Tiggo were my top options. I went for the Sonet, because the superior ride, interior trim, ergonomics and boot space were what mattered to me. People here are complaining about headlights and sunroofs, which makes absolutely no difference to me. My primary gripe, as Ciro has correctly pointed out, is the lack of driver's one touch window control, no auto side mirrors, and the cup holders. These things bother me way more than I thought they would.
We bought the top of the range one for 306 when they had just came out. Put real leather in it and now with all the extras we paid less for ours than you pay for the same car now. I'm sorry but kia are going to loose their customers
When pulling away the accelerator is useless until you go halway. And the brakes are very sensitive. But the steering is great the infotainment is great and we get 6.3l per 100 on ours with my mother driving and she has a lead foot. It's actually more efficient than the Picanto she had before it.
The key has already begun to get stuck while opening it. She had been driving kia and only kia for 11 years but with the price and the absolute lack of equipment compared to where it is built it's terrible
@@jeffreymanuel6454 I understand that but there should be an option to change the throttle response it is fly by wire so it can easily be changed they just need to add the button or menu on the gauge cluster. Because when i say useless i mean at 60kph if you are at 10% throttle it does nothing no matter what speed. If you want to pull away going from nothing to everything is not a feature it's a annoyance.
The drive sounds terrible. If the throttle and brake isn't engineered properly then that in itself is a deal breaker. Also how can you not list power figures? KIAs look ugly though.
Give me normal aircon then and add drl and led lights. Its a no brainer. I have the 1.5 ex. I wanted a turbo but because of the lights isue I won't trade in for a more expensive model. If Kia does this their sales would increase. Fyi Tiggo pro 4 and suzuki Brezza have drls in the baseline. I suspect the make up of the models are decided by Kia south Africa. Some should be slapped because they are messing things up. Kia could be one of the top 3 brands in Sa. The quality is def there. Even the picanto dominates the small car market but yet again no turbo available.... people will pay for these things. Just make it available. Thats why Toyota and vw keep o. Winning, the are expensive but they give specs.....
That rear seat arrangement would immediately take it off my shopping list. It's 2022 and no DRLs! If the window switches don't have the second "one touch" detent then Kia is short-changing this market, as they are available elsewhere.
I get that, when compared with the Brezza that has more tech than this despite being a less tech laden car. Cant even compare this with a Tiggo which just makes this look ancient
How is it treating you though, in terms of maintenance and fuel efficiency? I'm asking because a lot of French car manufacturers are constantly being criticized for reliability but they're quite affordable compared to their counterparts.
@@siyangqina I love it. Very economical and a lot of boot space. It's not exactly premium but very practical. Good ground clearance and average power. But the auto EDC transmission gets confused when you're driving slow. Also, I'd love to have an armrest. No idea why they didn't include that. Bought it new so it's still under warranty so I haven't had issues. Thinking I'll give the Chinese a try next time but my heart yearns for a Subaru. Only problem is that they're unnecessarily thirsty.
I don't need anything fancy but still looking and just like you, I'm quite intrigued by the Chinese, I'm digging the Cherry Tigo 7 pro, lots of bells and whistles for the prices they go for and the general impression I've gotten from owners of the older models seem to imply that they're fairly reliable. I must sympathize with you on the Subies though, those boxer engines have a reputation for being quite thirsty but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be smiling to the petrol station in a WRX STI or Forrester though.
@@siyangqina yeah, Tiggo and Jolion are in my sights. I think they'll only improve and will fill up the streets in the next few years. Yeah, I hear mixed reviews about the Subaru CVT as well though I'd also be smiling in an Outback, especially since I'm wanting to get into a more 'outdoors' lifestyle.
