Nice racquet but I prefer the new 98 spin version paired with the luxilon VIBE string. Two of my tennis friends tried a demo last week and bought the Clash 100. Now I know 4 people which bought them immediately after they did a demo period. One guy said it was a unique hitting racquet.
I'm a 5.0 level player and my main hitting partner is my son who was a top 10 recruit in the US. I can say that this racket bothered my arm after one session and I was using a hybrid setup strung low and comfortable. The racket has some benefits, like good plow through due to the weight. However, if you are playing with heavy hitting partners the likelihood of being late occasionally with the beefy frame and heaviness is a concern. The feel of this racket is not comfortable at all despite having a relatively low RA. It felt like hitting wtih a cardboard box full of wet rags. You often make it out like a Prince Phantom O3 100X isn't a player's racket, but it is by far the best racket out there for comfort while still having playability at a high level. You did a review of the 290g version, but that is not the racket to compare to other player rackets. The one I play with is heavier but has a lower swing weight due to the O ports. At the end of our hitting session I hit about 10 balls with my normal racket after trying this Clash Pro for over an hour and I couldn't believe the immediate obvious "plush" feel of the Phantom O3. It was like comparing a luxury car with crazy comfortable seats to a kit car that looks fancy on the outside but has plastic seats that are totally rigid and uncomfortable.
Hey, I'm looking to buy this racket, what strings should I put on it and at what tension? I'm a beginner, but I have alot of strength so I need some control to balance it out.
I use the Clash 100 and I used to love it, but I tried the Yonex Regna 100 and OMG! the Clash just doesn't have the same feel, control, and slice excellence as the Regna.
Harry, I was rocking the solinco confidential like you in my clash 98s, but I swapped to champions choice with 57lb on gut mains, and 53lb on the crosses. Way more touch with the gut on volleys, and the launch angle on groundies wasn't so high too. Curious as to whether you've tried the setup on the v1 or v2 clash? It made a difference for me.
Thanks for the review tennis spin! I have this racquet and my wife has the clash 100 v1. Fyi if your interested in the clash v2 pro it is not forgiving if you have bad form. My first day with the pro, and balls were going everywhere with bad form and upright baseline hits. Next session I concentrated on perfect form and bending my knees on baseline hits and this thing is an accurate cannon! With my wife’s clash 100 v1 I can be lazy and be upright and everything seems to go in, it’s a cheat code racquet with less accuracy. This racquet is special and really accurate but you have to fine tune your techniques to unlock its potential. Absolutely great on volley and return serves too as it’s heavier than clash 100. I will also mention that I have carpel tunnel and ulna nerve inflammation and this racquet at 53lbs lxn main tnt cross works for me without pain.
LOL..to each is own I guess. I'm of Asian persuasion as well, but I happen to think the new red is a great improvement over version 1's color scheme. To be honest though...my mindset is similar...if I don't like a racquet's color scheme, that could dampen my enthusiasm for the racquet as well even if it plays well.
He’s trying to win over Wilson. He always checks actual specs on rackets he reviews, but not this one. Prob because Wilson has the WORST QC. That’s probably why he didn’t get one early, Wilson figured he’d spec it out and show everyone how bad their QC is. I guess he’s trying to make some Wilson friends.🤷♂️
