Thank you for the review, very detailed and makes me feel better about our choice. My wife and I decided to upgrade our stereo system so we went to a few stores and got some suggestions. We were very interested in B&W. We were interested in the 804D4 tower and bookshelf speakers. The tower speakers sound great but they are $16,000 a pair and the book shelf speakers are $8500 a pair. When I found out about the 702 S3, $7,000/pair, I informed the salesman that I wanted to compare all three. We did a blind test and actually picked out the 702 S3. Then we heard the 804D4 bookshelf which sounded great but the 702's have bigger, fuller sound which we chose along with the center channel speaker and the sub-woofer. We got the Marantz Cinemax 40 so I am hoping after your comment that will be powerful enough, it seemed like it during the demo yesterday. We will be using it for both music and home theater. Thank you!
Went to the store and heard 702s3 and 703s3. 702 bass was more but very boomy. Highs of course were great but they got lost more in the sound of the bass and mid bass of 702. The 703 had a nice tight bass with speed which allowed the highs to really shine and articulate. Find myslef leaning towards 703 which is supposedly the lesser speaker. Am i missing something in your opinion?
