One night, just before closing, i rode Matterhorn 10 times in a row. Can't guess how many times over my life. Love the sensation of speed thru the tunnels. The structure is such a great piece of pop sculpture, it totally consumes my imagination and steals my heart. Walt had my number. True, the ride is jerky, but no more so than Ghost Rider over at Knotts, a much newer ride.
2:14 shocks me that, to this day, they have this area where you can see the wooden structure. It's easier to see it in the video than in person, but it's one of those things where once you do notice it, you will always see it (in person).
I went on June 23rd 2023 and I had no idea it had been under refurbishment! I’m so glad it was open when I went! The last time I went was 10 years prior. I was super sad about Splash Mountain closing though, I don’t think I’ll ever fully get over that…
One thing I wish that the Matterhorn would have is *On-Ride Photo Spot.* The photo include Harold of course and Swiss Alps theming, BTW thanks for sharing both sides, I still enjoy the Tomorrowland side. I still miss seeing the Skyway run through the Matterhorn as well.
Great to see both tracks!! I've ridden the first one but never saw a video. Love the updated effects! It's hard to imagine it used to be pretty much hollow inside with all the steel and tracks exposed. No yeti. yet.
i was at disney for a grad trip and ive always wanted to go on this ride, felt really dissapointed that it was closed and now i am even more dissapointed that the DAY after i left the ride opened up
I was one of the people that got stuck on this ride and had to go inside of the mountain to take an elevator down, it was all hollow, there was even a basketball court in there!
Man, I'm not sure if it's the 4K video or the FPS, but that looked to be a very fast ride. Nothing like cleaning the tracks or turning down the brakeruns. That looked fun. One of my favs at Dland
If I was a chiropractor, I would stand at the exit of the Matterhorn and hand out business cards. Having said that, I love the Matterhorn, but not enough Advil in the world to risk it
The second version, the ones that were two seaters, jacked up my back and legs a bit to where I had a hard time walking. Don't think I'll be riding the new ones anytime soon.
I realize watching this that I have only ever been on the Tomorrowland track. The Fantasyland one kind of looks better in the video imo. I will have to make sure I take a ride on that side if I ever get the chance again.
Not to nitpick too hard, but chapter names need to be switched. The first side is labeled Tomorrowland side which is the track on the left. The Fantasyland side is on the right track.
I have avoided this ride because I remember as a kid, the yeti scared me 😭. I also remember the ride not being comfortable at all...but it looks like you only see the yeti for a split second each time? The sounds are loud though 🥺. Maybe I can bring my loops to this ride if I were to brave it.
I don't remember the ride being so rough with the old bobsleds. The ones where you had to sit between someone's legs and lean back on them going up the mountain. The new cars aren't as comfortable. I wish I could have ridden it when they only had one car. Maybe that makes a difference too? One car instead of two.
I agree. I remember it being way slower and easier to enjoy the views and ride in general. But sitting with someone’s legs around you was so awkward! 😅

No way to make this smooth. When the ride was built. Tracks were gastened to the metal frame. Their is no way to make major changes can be done. Tracks would need to have separate support snd then the mountain built around it. I'd say leave it alone and we have to endure the pain 😂
Most of the time it's maintenance. Due to it being old it needs frequent care. People get confused and see refurb. Closure as them going in and fixing the track to new.
I can't wait until they tear it down. It's no longer a question of IF the ride will fail structurally otherwise, but WHEN. She's WELL PAST HER SERVICE LIFE. Disney need to WAKE UP!
seeing as they closed it down since last year for refurbishment and only recently opened it back up, i think this ride is here to stay for quite some time. I think you need to go back to sleep.
