I just bought the 2024 version of Yaris Cross 116 hp version. In my opinion, the extra 14hp version is a big waste of money. 14 hp is like 0,5 sec differences which is not noticabe at all. The "Noise" which everyone is talking about is just wierd. I have extremely sharp ears and those "Noise" doesnt bother me at all. You know, back in the days when you drive manual cars, you were supposed to listen to the engine when shifting gears? People really really got spoiled, seriously. What a tiny details to complain on. In general, the yaris cross is probably the most bang for the bucks you can get and Im super happy about it!
It's the change in torque and response that makes the difference, it's also probably the same margin of difference between a 1.6 and a 1.8 20 years ago, which would have incurred a similar difference in price but also been more to run, whereas now you can have a bit more power with no running cost downsides
People always think it's the peak hp value that determines how much you get pushed back in the seat, but it's the 30% increase in torque that pushes you back 30% more into the seat when you hit the gas. It's like it got a 30% bigger engine.
@@briank10101 and @buckleupshow, both cars have exactly the SAME engine max torque at 120 @ 3600 - 4800. And the difference between powertrain max torque is barely.. It's not worth 3k euros extra. Waste of money through the window!
I have the 2023 model got it new great 4 person car Just few things missing like No air vent at the back No lights at the back No USB at the back Leg room a bit tight Not much storage compared to old cars There is a Asian version i think which addresses some of the issues which i have mentioned Over all a great car for high mpg
@@BuckleUpShow When I picked up my Toyota Yaris Cross Premiere Edition 130 BHP the petrol gauge stated 251 miles range, since I bought it I have put £50 of petrol in. I now have 768 miles on the clock and a petrol gauge range of 328 miles, with an average 69.1 mpg showing on the dashboard.
Good review. I ordered mine in the Netherlands, I am Dutch. The mpg challenge was fun, yet, gives a bit of a one-sided view now. Noise reduction should also be tested when you accelerate more fiercely. Glad you are positive. The 12V battery should also be better, overcoming starting problems in 2021 version.
I did the economy test in a GR sport spec car, I also drove the red design car that I used for the walk around section and floored that, it's audible but not intrusive
@BuckleUpShow no it should be better, my neighbour sold his 2021 version and has the 130 hp now, he notices the difference in norse. I find all the safely technology reassuring too. Thanks again.
Now, after nearly 40 Hours of educating myself in the topic of modern cars and what is available right now, i need to buy a new car. This is the first time i ever look into this. After checking out nearly every other manufacturer, i think this is the best choice in that price range given its 15 years of warranty, its efficiency and its features. Especially after the facelift with the "new" motor.
It's manufacturer provided footage, since there aren't any significant exterior updates they haven't updated it yet, and even if they do since it's only a facelift it likely wouldn't be a UK plated car
I recently managed to buy one of the last petrol Yaris Cross left in the dealership - it's a 2022 model, 125 hp. I was looking for reviews of that in Europe, but there are none... I'm in Bulgaria.
@@BuckleUpShow They have, it's not sold in the UK though, but I've seen them all over continental Europe. You can find pov drive videos of it on RU-vid (for some reason I can't put a video link here). Anyway, my point is I would have loved to see you review it before I bought it. Your video on the Dacia Jogger sold me on it, but the wait was too long and I opted for the Yaris Cross non-hybrid, which was available.
Dead jealous. My 2 litre Corolla (not plug in but full hybrid) is only managing an average of 65mpg/41% electric only this month (!!) - with a Somerset to Scotland road trip thrown in. Mind you, on some Scottish legs I did manage over 90 mpg. Toyota really have nailed the efficiency without the dire drawbacks of electric only vehicles.
I would buy one these, but if like me you don't drive the car every day, and do mainly short local journeys, you would probably need to buy a solar panel trickle charger otherwise the 12v battery will go flat and you wont be able to start the car. It's a well known problem with some Hybrids and EV's that never seems to get mentioned in these reviews.
@@BuckleUpShow haha, very funny 😂 but I think I'll just stick with my 7 year old petrol Yaris with it's 7 year old battery that has never let me down 🙂
@@thewalrus6833my 14 yr old 1.0 yaris worth 1500quid 100k reliable miles, 60mpg and diy servicing a cinch. Park that against cost of buying this. Abs ridiculous that Re-centres go on about economy
It's a nice car but the battery will die after 3 days if you don't drive it. Do a search for Yaris battery issues , known issue. Imo that's a fairly good reason to give it a skip.
We're aware, we're not in the business of making car reviews for people who barely drive their cars though. If your use case is such that you'd always be worried about a flat battery in this you should probably just buy a banger for 2k cause you're never going to be more than walking distance from home anyway
@@BuckleUpShow lol. What about if you travel and go on holidays and leave your car parked at the airport. Judging by how many cars there are parked at the airport I would say it's a common enough use case. Personally I think it's an issue, but I accept it's not an every day event. The bottom line is I can buy any other car and avoid this issue. It's a decent car overall if you can accept this issue.
It was a GR sport that I drove (design in the walk around) that starts from around £31k, still handily less than a top spec T-Cross where you still have to pay extra for heated seats and sat nav
I feel like you’ve answered this in other videos but how tall are you? That driving position is quite far back, compared to the YC24 I sat in yesterday at a dealer…
Good review shame about the Grey car 2021 model with a women driving it, New model looks different it has HEV instead of Hybrid at the back. Would have nice being to see video footage of the car you where driving.
Had this on my shortlist but the back seat is just too small for an adult. Other than that it's a super vehicle. Leaning towards the Honda Jazz Crosstar myself.
In case you've not seen it, Harry has also reviewed the Jazz Crosstar! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VI0vW4Iakew.htmlsi=LNpvPbwx-cnIAWrK
In the website, this model was suposed to have a sunroof. I actually bought it last week, and i'm afraid it won't feature the panoramic... can anyone confirm this car is offered with this feature, i can't find anything on it.Just making, sure, as the dealership also said it had a sunroof, but i cant find any images on it...
@@BuckleUpShow well, in the portuguese website it would be the luxury trim, which states it has the roof. Same rims as this one and no double tone roof, so i thought it would be the same.
The car in the walk around was a "Design" which is second from bottom, the car I was sitting in for the driving section was a GR sport and the car in the external driving footage was actually a pre updates car as they haven't really changed on the outside. We have 5 trim levels in the UK
Only if in the days leading up to those couple of days you've only been driving it short distances where the engine barely has to turn on. And even if that is the case battery conditioners can be had for £20 these days
