NEW 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe - More Powerful Duramax Diesel and a Smoother Ride
The 2025 Tahoe undergoes a subtle design update and introduces a revamped dashboard featuring a standard 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster. While the V-8 engine options remain unchanged, the optional diesel inline-six receives a power boost to 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque, marking an increase of 38 horses and 35 pound-feet. Several additional towing aids, such as a tire health monitor for the trailer, have been incorporated for driver assistance. Chevy notes improvements to the Tahoe's suspension for enhanced comfort, with air springs now available on the RST trim in addition to Z71 and High Country models. The lineup also introduces new wheel options, including 24-inch designs, the largest ever featured on the Tahoe. We believe that the RST and Z71 models in the mid-tier range provide the most advantageous offerings. The RST appeals with its stylish features, while the Z71 is tailored for adventurous individuals who venture off-road occasionally. We favor the Z71's standard four-wheel drive, robust appearance, and exclusive off-road enhancements. Additionally, we recommend upgrading from the base 5.3-liter V-8 to the optional 6.2-liter V-8, providing an additional 65 horsepower.
The engine beneath the hood of the majority of Tahoes is a V-8, either a 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter with 355 or 420 horsepower, and it is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission. For the majority of vehicles, all-wheel drive is an option; rear-wheel drive is standard. A 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine with 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque is an optional feature. All trim levels of the diesel are available with the same 10-speed automatic transmission. The off-road-focused Tahoe Z71 is equipped with 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, underbody protection, and a two-speed transfer case for conventional four-wheel drive. In our testing, we discovered that the 5.3-liter V-8 Tahoe Z71 pre-facelift had sufficient acceleration, a solid brake pedal, and an incredibly quiet cabin at highway speeds. An air spring suspension system, which is useful for navigating problems off-road, is an option for the Z71 that lets the driver adjust the Tahoe's ride height. Both RST and High Country models have the option to add this suspension. We'll add driving impressions and test results to this piece as soon as we get to test drive the 2025 Tahoe.
In contrast to smaller, mid-size SUVs, the full-size Tahoe has an enormous interior with what seems like acres of open room. Standard seating is in three rows, with the second row's chairs slid fore and aft to allow for flexibility and comfortable wayback seating for adults. Numerous items like as smartphones, drinks, wallets, and keys can all be stored in the roomy center console. A sizable storage compartment behind the center armrest can accommodate a small bag or purse. The mid-range and higher trims of the LS are better equipped with desirable options, including as a power rear liftgate, second-row captain's chairs, a power-adjustable steering column, and more, while the entry-level vehicles are fairly devoid of luxury equipment. Genuine wood trim, perforated leather upholstery, and unique interior color schemes are features of the top-spec High Country. Because of its independent rear suspension, the Tahoe's interior packaging also offers a low, flat load floor; the cargo compartment expands to 123 cubic feet when the second and third seats are folded. Six carry-on bags were able to fit beneath the third row.
A 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, slightly inclined toward the driver for improved access to the phone, radio, and navigation, is standard equipment on all Tahoe models. Included are wireless smartphone charging pad, Wi-Fi hotspot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The Tahoe has an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster in addition to the infotainment touchscreen. Optional features include a Bose music system and a rear-seat entertainment system with two screens positioned behind the front seats. The Tahoe comes equipped with a number of advanced driver aid systems as standard, including as automatic high-beam headlamps and lane-keeping assistance. A boat ramp assist feature, a trailer tire monitoring system, and a navigation system that can determine the optimal routes based on trailer size are just a few of the useful towing-support features that Chevy has included. LT, RST, Premier, and High Country trim levels can select for GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving technology.
