NEW 3D PRINTER! Wuxn WXR Unboxing, Setup, and Initial Review 

A few reasons made me go with the WXR. First limiting factor is that I generally try to avoid made in china products. Nothing against the quality or anything like that. I don't want to support the CCP's economy and their threats to attack Taiwan. I lived in Taiwan for 3 years and this is pretty close to the heart for me. So I figure the best thing I can do to try and prevent that is limit their military by limiting their economy as much as i can. Made in USA is a nice to have. So that takes out a lot of options for 3d printers for me. Next is, I dont have a lot of time to put together the machine so something like a voron is out of the question. Some assembly is ok (prusa semi assembled would be fine) but anything more than a couple hours wasn't worth it. So something that can work so well out of the box (literally) is a huge bonus. There arent a lot of reviews about the WXR out there but what I could tell is basically 100% positive experiences which is awesome. When it is a small company with limited user base, it is a bit of a risk but seeing as how positive the feedback was it made me feel good. Print volume was enough for 99.9% of what I do and I still have my lulzbot if I need more. Price. It was between a Mk4 from Prusa or this and when I purchased on cyber monday, who had the better deal and price. I could have bought 2 WXRs for one Mk4. So I pulled the trigger.

I dont have a prusa for exact comparison, but I'd definitely say direct competitor not a copy. lots of differences between the two. Lack of haribos are a problem but cant complain too much :)

Open source at work, Prusa makes their printer open source. Wuxn takes it and makes improvements, Prusa makes a new printer and incorporates the improvements made by Wuxn along with their own improvements. Wuxn takes those improvements and incorporates them. People who say 'copy' don't understand open source. It is clearly not a direct copy. Also, the guy is American or Canadian, these printers are made in Colorado, it's better to go local than have it shipped over seas. This is all coming from someone who owns two MK3S+, one bought that way and one upgraded from the previous model.
