The 200AR is flat shooting, mild recoil, and the bullet has good sectional density. 200AR Bullet expands down to 1200fps. Barnes and Hornady don't expand below 1800fps. At 300yds 200AR is going 1245-55 fps as verified on Silver Mountain Electronic Targets. Std deviation was 7.6 for 20 rounds. Half moa vertical waterline at 300yds for 20 shots. Definitely a winner 🏆.
Custom Boutique ammo manufacturer out performs factory ammo. On behalf of all factory ammo manufacturers.... " I am shocked" lol ( sarcasm). I understand and support bear creek. Innovation and tech = profitability. What has me scratching my head is how they have not been caught up in a law suit because somebody used the " wrong bullet " or " hot loaded" bullet in the wrong fire arm platform in the heat of the moment. You don't think hornady/ remington/winchester cannot push the 450 above and beyond what the current factory ammo specs are running? I support all things gun/ ammo. But this has me scratching my head. Good, Better, Best, you be the judge. Happy Hunting.
The difference is all the major ammo manufacturers are trying to maximize profitability by reaching the masses and letting the niche stuff slide. Develop one load that does everything but at a reduced efficiency. Everything in guns and ammo has warning labels and there’s lot of opportunity to make a mistake with big manufacturers as well. Between +P loads, smokeless/blackpowder, etc, there’s warning labels everywhere. It’s not just boutique high velocity loads. That’s why they all have bold warning labels and high insurance premiums.
Let me re- frame my conversation. Saami spec is what seperates wildcat/custom loads from standard saami spec ( factory) ammunition. It is interesting hornady has not payed Saami ( nothing is free) to adjust specs to accomodate bolt action parameters. Yet bear creek can " just go for it", because they say its ok? I am not opposed to running ammo exceeding saami spec in my own rifles, for my sole use. Bottom line I believe is this. Hornady knows that 450 bush specs can be expanded but choose not to do so to sell " other options" , different calibers, etc. .... 2nd point.... is bear creek is not really pushing the envelope. They just know the actual specs that a 450 will handle in a bolt action. Or in this case the AR platform, by loading, and using innovative new bullet design. Nothing wrong with second point. It just is something reloaders have known for quite a while.
@@Trinitystillmyname I don’t know what Bear Creek is running for pressures compared to SAAMI. That would be a question for them and interesting to know.
Agreed. As always, excellent video. Look forward to the next ones. Appreciate the time you spent to reply. You don't have to. We all have busy lives. ... smashed the like button to help you out.
@@Trinitystillmyname It's really nothing new. We can look to the variety of 45-70 power levels, trapdoor, modern lever and ruger. Then we have 30-06 with a lot of modern loadings being totally unsafe for older firearms. We have 6 arc with 2 specs, one for AR and one for bolt action and I'm sure there are quite a few more examples. As far as I'm aware, saami spec is more of a guideline than an actual rule anyways, at the end of the day it's the responsiblity of bear creek or buffalo bore to function in the firearms they say it functions in while warning against what not to use it in.
