I received my Denon avr-x3700h about 8 or 9 days ago. This baby really gets hot on the top. I ordered today an AC Infinity Aircom T10 it's a front blowing fan. The 3700 sounds great but the heat is something else. My 20 year old Yamaha 5.1 stay cool all day running. The Denon seems to get even hotter on video/tv then on streaming music.

Only one 2.1 input. Better to get a deal on the Denon 3600h, 4500h, or Marantz SR6013, SR6014 and use eARC. This will save you some cash, and in the case of the 4500h and Marantz units, you will get better sound quality and power for less money. Personally debating between the 4500h and the SR6014.

Exactly I just did a Sony 3100es 4k receiver I will wait I don't like swapping out equipment all the time and aren't made of money, my favorite feature on the Sony is the 8 port built in router

@@scotttild add an Apple TV 4k, thats what I did to my Sony 3100 ES ( a very good receiver) and I ordered a Sony HAP-Z1ES Music server so I should be covered for a few years. it gives me most everything, I am fed up with swapping out good working equipment Some company should come up with a modular receiver than can be user upgrades by swapping out cards. I wish AV companies would pick a road map, let everyone know what coming so I can make a decision based on what I am comfortable doing. It would also help because you could target your money to long lasting equipment instead of buying something for one or two features

Scientists from Japan’s NHK were working on 8K Super Hi-Vision (as it was called then) in 1995. Yep, 1995! HD (720p) was previewed at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games... Governments dragging their heels on tech is the reason for delays... This tech is not new at all.

Can you please let people know that the optical out or in will not play certain sound codecs like Atmos etc They need to use HDMI for that. And eArc runs over 15ft if you have a active hdmi and HDMI over Ethernet or fibre

Hi great video question please if you don’t mind. I just finished setting up my home theater and I’m first running a Sony A90J 65 inch OLED, my question is I’m using a Denon 3700h receiver with two Klipsch RP-800F’S front speakers and two R-41sa’s as the height speakers which are mounted to the wall on each side of the tv cause I didn’t like when you place them on top of the floor speakers and aim it at the ceiling to get the overhead affect. I also have two Klipsch RP-600m bookshelf speakers on stands as the rear and I’m using the tv as the center channel until I get dedicated center speaker, there is a 10 inch woofer as well. Now the entire setup uses hard wired connections and I just bought two Denon 150 home wireless speakers and I would like to use them as rear height speakers to make it a 7.1 but so far I’m not seeing a way in the Denon setup to add two wireless speakers it only gives options for connecting more wired speakers. So is it possible to do this? Thank you so much

I can buy a 3600 today, or I can wait until late September or early October for the 3700, being in Australia we’re pretty behind, not sure what to do? Really I’m only using it mainly for streaming high quality video files, maybe some rare gaming with ps5/4. I got Polk s55 5.1 speakers atm, looking to upgrade and get some height speakers soon. The Denon AVR-X2700H is suffering from eArc issues using eArc and a games console via eArc and sound mode selection. Not using bitstream, but LPCM. It only happens when the source is eARC (ie internal apps from the TV when eARC is enabled or using a games console via eArc). The Denon app shows Multi-channel PCM input, however, the output options are not the same when receiving multi-channel PCM from an input directly connected to the receiver. When using eArc on my TV connected to the Denon, the denon receives multichannel PCM input from the TV, but when I go to select a sound mode on the receiver, I only have a choice of multichannel stereo, stereo or DSur. Why will it not let me select a sound mode like Multichannel PCM? It should let me output the same format as what the receiver is receiving? Like Input-Multichannel PCM Output-Multichannel PCM. There is a clearly a bug with this receiver, that will not let me output Multichannel PCM as a sound mode over eArc. Input (eARC multi channel PCM): Output (choices are Stereo, DSur, Multi Ch Stereo): Can test this to see if they have been able to get Multichannel PCM sound mode output? Rather than Stereo, DSur, Multichannel stereo? I am sure this is a bug with the latest receivers? And needs fixing via firmware update.

Got a question for anyone who can answer. I have a Samsung Q90T and it only has 1 hdmi 2.1 inputs. I have a Xbox one X that can do 120hz in certain resolutions. Question is my 2.1 input and eArc input are separate inputs on the TV. Do I use both outputs on the receiver (eArc output to eArc input on the TV AND output from receiver to the hdmi 2.1 input on the TV)?

Don't forget Zack that the new line of Denon receivers for 2020 also are the first to support hdmi 2.1, that's a big deal if you connect this series of recivers to a TV that supports hdmi 2.1 for Lossless audio from streaming services, you will get Dolby Digital HD for your Atmos now, not Dolby Digital plus. So no more compressed audio for your Home Theater!!! That's a Huge Selling point because most people will still be buying 4k@120hrz TV's to play the New Console that are coming this Christmas season. Dang man, I should be a salesman for you guys! I'm enjoying my Denon x6700h and running a 7.2.4 at the moment but definitely going to run that Center Hight and voice of god channel for DTS-X PRO, got to make it Bump! Thanks to Chris, "That Home Theater Dude" got me going down the Amazing Rabbit Hole👍👍

kvalsvik, I believe that is correct. But, you also have eARC for added flexibility if you were to have more than one 8K source. It’s not the dealbreaker that it appears to be, if you really think about it.

You need an extra 2 channel amp to run 11 channels. This receiver only has 9 amps built in, but can process 11.

Maybe you can help me. I have just sold my x2300w and am on the hunt for a new reciever I am looking at the 3700H and the 4500H. The 4500H is on ebay new for a good price but not sure it will give me what I want. I have an LG Cx oled tv, ps4 pro and nvidia shield Pro, Nintendo switch (and ps5 coming) . If I bought the 4500H would earc be the best option. Of shkuld I get the 3700H and have the latest at more cost

Dude, I love your videos. I think you may have made one mistake or maybe it's me. I think if one goes with an external amp it's all or none, meaning you can use the AV amp or external amp only not both. I was disappointed about that, I hope I'm wrong.

Not exactly. You can, but it’s all or nothing if you want to cut the output voltage from the amp section in the AVR. This is why they call it preamp mode. If you are using the AVR to power some of the channels, then there is the potential for the amp section of the AVR to introduce unwanted noise/distortion into the signal path of the unused channels. You can’t cut the voltage to individual channels, so this is where the “all or nothing” statement factors into the conversation.

A lot of cutting edge features, but mediocre sound quality. I miss the golden age of AVR’s, when they had all the features, but also had the power and sound quality to match. Audyssey badly needs an overhaul before I would ever consider buying another Denon/Marantz AVR or processor.

Turn off mid range compensation (aka BBC dip) 2. Set the cut off limit to somewhere around 500-700hz. XT32 biases to the low-end anyways so YMMV 3. Set a house curve with a 5-6db bass boost rolling off around 200hz (see audiosciencereview post linked above or look up olive-welti curve or harman curve.

Anyone buying this receiver for the HDMI 2.1 features beware. On the ps5 the VRR is working very poorly , the denon x3700h has tons of handshake issues with the ps5. I mainly upgraded from pioneer vsx834 for the VRR+HDR features, and it is AWFUL. For movie viewing and music it's beautiful, for gaming it's broken. What is point having 8K. It is only upscaling to 8K, to see small efect you need 8k tv , no television broadcasting in 8K , no 8K bluray players ,no 8K disc format.

De que adianta ter suporte a 8k se não tem nem conteúdo? Foi a mesma coisa quando lançaram 4k em 2013, agora em 2020, quase sete anos depois que veio a aparecer bastante conteúdo em 4k. Equipamento cheio de firulas, amplificação que é bom não tem!

As far as I understand there is only 1 8k input. Not sure if the other HDMI 2.1 specs are included in the other HDMI inputs. Deal breaker.

I feel 8K viewing is overkill and hard to distinguish from 4K. An upgrade from 1080p to 4K is not that significant based on where you have fixed your seating in your room, unless you pull your seats up closer to the screen.

who cares only select streaming might be in 8k and very select movies on 8k.....meanwhile broadcast tv is still 1080p ,

8 k....they can’t even get 4K switching working properly. I am personally done with Marantz/Denon after my SR 7011

xxxXXXCH04XXXxxx Marantz does not handle switching with backwards compatibility. HDCP 2.2 is required for throughput. Telus 4K PVR s are HDCP 1.4 and thus will not output to 1080p devices Problem 2. I have a 4K tv and a 1080p projector. Because the two are different the receiver cannot handle both outputs even when the Tv is shut off. The HDMI signal continuously drops. Have read this issue throughout forums. Basically Marantz expects me to have two 4K devices to use receiver. Not to mention the stupid flip down window on the front of receiver.

@@vrthykr7070 I guess you are getting those blackouts?. Denon (and I guess Marantz too) is now announcing this "new HDMI feature called Quick Media Switching (QMS), which allows a source to instantly switch the resolution or frame rate to eliminate screen blackout" in their new models. Well, even in the case they are fixing it, that wouldn't do any effect on me since I've only got a 4K TV and that's all, lol. I'm looking forward to one of these models, preferably the 3700H shown in the video so I'm hoping it to be perfect. I do hope you find a solution to your problem. Thanks for the information :)

This unit will be how long in the market..? I tough denon will discontinue after 3 year. I bought denon 6400 know this unit is discontinue and I cannot get the spare parts. Pls sir in future don't demo denon product that will be destroy your future. So sad on denon product

Wow, what a waste of time, these 2020 receivers are useless. Only a single HDMI 2.1 port and they are asking for 1 grand minimum. Just buy yourself a cheap AVR with preouts until 2021.
