Yes, WW really grows on ya.:) BTW, the Family Dollar brand is really quite good.:) I've used it a couple of times and like it.:) time will ultimately tell, though.:)
I've been a Pinaud Clubman user for years, love it. I also use their Bay Rum. I purchased their Vanilla about a month ago and I might like it as much as the original. I hesitated because of the name, but they say the name describes the color, not the scent. It does not have any vanilla scent. I think it is a great spring/summer scent. I'm very glad I purchased 2 bottles! Thanks for the Family Dollar heads up.
My pleasure.:) I used the Family Dollar after shave this mornign and was pleasantly surprised.:) I like it.:) a few more shaves will tell me for sure.:) Regarding Clubman, the three I have are the original, Bay Rum, and Whiskey woods. All winners, IMHO.:) I'd like to try more in their line.:)
My “Brut” clone is a bottle I bought years ago from Family Dollar. They used to call their store versions “Ivy Club” (they also had “Ivy Club Spice” which is similar to Old Spice). The thing about the Ivy Club line is that they were manufactured by a company called Vi-Jon (their logo will be somewhere on the bottle, another Vi-Jon brand was “Flag & Sail Brisk” which was an excellent take on Skin Bracer). They make many store brand “versions” for CVS, Rite Aid, etc.. Their aftershave clones were always good quality. Especially the “Spice.” I’m curious how the Daxton compares to Ivy Club. Goes to show you I haven’t been in a dollar store for months so this Daxton is new to me!
Whiskey Woods, I hope will grow on me too. I got a Clubman Dopp kit that came with it, and I don't like it too much right now, lol. The brush and soap are awesome though.
Supernoob, gove it a chance. What I usually do is, if I find that any piece of shaving gear is a bit disagreeable, I set it aside for a week or two and then come back to it. It sometimes gives me a fresh and unbiased perspective.
As I mentioned in the video, Whiskey Woods is a scent that has really grown on me.:) I especially like using it after shaving with TRA shave soap. This is a new shaving soap you'll see featured in a head shave this Friday evening (along with a new brush). But, I'm also going to be doing another review of TRA and some other things.:) Coincidentally, I used TRA and Whiskey Woods this morning and just really loved how the two scents inter-played.:)
@@MarkSzorady tbh I just discovered your channel when was looking for a review of it but definitely plan staying around . Looking forward to hearing any suggestions in the future
Yeah, I picked up a bottle of Daxton brite. Smells the same. Got it just about two years ago and I still have 1/3 of a bottle. That's also using Clubman Pinaud for about the same time. That one is almost gone. K light tty using Scotch for an aftershave. The last bottle I got is a little, meh...
I bought that Daxton from Family Dollar a few months back. Same price! It’s great stuff! Smells almost identical to Brut, for 1/3 the price!! I think you’ll like it!
Thanks.:) Used it in a recent video that I'm readying for the channel. You're correct.:) Nice stuff!:) Very surprised. Really nice.:) And nice price.:)
if it comes to cheap (in price) aftershave, I think I could go for English Leather, Old Spice, Denim (original), Tabac and, Skin Bracer; although I am using a balm aftershave that is great, "Freshwood balm aftershave" from Boots (their own brand aftershave), very cheap but high and fine quality, this is a great balm aftershave that calms, refreshes, soothes, cools and hydrates your skin after a shave.
Great Video, I have found some Natural an Organic after shaves Lather & Wood has some great after shave balms, Badger Balm makes Organic men grooming products, Barberry Coast has several nice shaving products and Captains choice brand. There's a lot of the Satin tipped shaving brushes or black knot brushes I was curious if you have tried any of these? I know Parker Makes one called the "MISY" and I have seen other brands. I am looking to buy one since my skin is very sensitive. Just ordered the "Bevel" razor and the Vikings Blade Emperor razor to try different razors for sensitive skin. Do you have any razor suggestions/recommendations for sensitive skin or any other products you could recommend for sensitive skin?
Well I just finished my first shave with the Vikings blade emperor I got a great shave on setting 5 with a derby premium blade! I was getting small nicks and cuts on my face so this time I tried changing up my technique on how I was using the razor and holding it, it works beautifully my wife is impressed and very happy with my smooth face. I bought the bevel razor I'm going to try that next time, I have many of the blades I bought with a sample pack to try yet but since I have changed my technique it may be hard for me to decide on one or few different types of blades.
Glad to hear.:) It's become a favorite. It took some tie, but I really like it.:) A sample of PAA Planet Poenux shave soap cam with the travel scuttle. I've found that Whiskey Woods compliments this shave soap quite well.:) I'm going to use soap first time tomorrow and finish up with WW.:).
@@youtoo2233 As I siad in another reply to you, it's darn close to Brut but I still need to do a closer side by side comparison. But, for the money, it's very good.:)
My guess is that you'll be okay. (I've been to Texan, but not during the hot summer months.) I really don't think it's that strong. It seems to be a bit softer than Pinaud. Additionally, I've used it during the summer months in NE Ohio. I shot this video in June and used Whiskey Woods: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cA_eWePc7M4.html Perhaps get a bottle now and try it out before the temp rises. Then you can gauge for yourself. If anything, you'll have it for cooler days if it works better for you that way.
Yes i have and it's darn good stuff!:) Surprisingly good for the money! I've used it several times since shooting the video and I like it.:) I still need to get a bottle of Brut and compare sid by side. I'd say, at this point, the Family Dollar after shave is darn close to Brut. Closer inspection/comparison is needed, though.:)
@@MarkSzorady thanks for the reply. I've used Brut for years and have noticed there are several different kind some weaker than others, there is one called Special Reserve which they say is the closest to the original Brut from decades ago but other people say but it's no good, there's also Brut cologne which some say is about as good as it gets but other say it lasts a few minutes and the scent is gone, so I'm not sure what happened to Brut so using these cheaper knock-offs it is no problem for me as long has it is very close to the original Brut scent. If it doesn't last very long I just reapply it
I have Aqua Velva too. Good smelling stuff. It's actually lasted me about 8 months now. Although I do rotate aftershaves. Which is why it has lasted so long.
