I'm not a pro... Make sure you write everything down that they say. By writing it down you wont forget it and you'll will be able to say it back to them. There are some dictation tricks that will help write it down quickly. There was a good-looking female pilot on YT (2 years ago) that goes over this in detail of how to write it down. Tell them you are a student right up front, they will slow down and help you out. That's common in RL too. You did well! It took some huge balls to post this video! We all know how embarrassing it is to do this. It took every ounce of will power on your part to not just say F%^# it, I'm outta here!
So glad I found your channel recently. Great content, and delivered really well! What appeals to me is this system seems a little less stressful than Vatsim - and you always have coverage, anywhere you want, anytime you want. Real people will always be real people, but this os a great substitute.
@@g-locmedia - What? Where have you been? The A2A Comanche is without a doubt the best GA addon ever developed for any sim. It's staggering, and the only negative is that once you've flown it, nothing else measures up.
Very impressive! I learned about this program while watching a BYATC video, ironically 😂 I think my problem is not so much the price, but the fact that I'm an occasional user of MSFS. The majority of my limited sim time is spent in DCS World (in VR) living my dreams of being a combat fighter pilot, lol. But as a longtime user of MSFS (since my teen years-1980s), I've always wished for realistic ATC and since I don't do much real world flying these days (PPL since 1998), this looks like a great alternative. I'm also exclusively GA when I fly the sim (love the FSW 414). Tried airliners a few times over the years, but they never held my interest very long. So that's a plus that this can be used with any aircraft in the sim. Just wish I could pay for what I use, as I use it or bank it.
@@g-locmedia as I told him on github, I have a strong feeling it's localisation related, keyboard codes etc. May I ask what country you're from? I'm in Switzerland
PilotEdge was indeed intimidating to start… but if you plan on flying IRL, you’re going to be stressed. I found the PE’s intimidation factor to be wonderful prep.
Great vid. It takes much more brain power to be able to communicate properly. AI ATC is the future of leisure simming IMHO. I wouldn't be surprised to see this being implemented as a paid add-on or something similar in flight simulators across the board.
As a real world controller myself, I think you did a great job. I talk to student pilots that often sound worst haha. Question - Do you ever get the feeling of Vertigo with that setup?
As fast as AI technology is moving I'm sure other developers will bring out more ATC software like this. At the moment this seems a little pricey for being a beta. Sounds like it works pretty good but price will hold me back on this one. Thanks for the video. Cheers!
ATC - Definitely a work in progress!! I was definitely feeling great empathy / sympathy for the obvious Task Saturation/Overload. About this ATC add-on....The Ai allowed you to skip the IDENT after accepting the Transponder Code for Flight Following. For training, how will you learn correct procedures if the Ai doesn't care about communication lapses? NOT a good thing, IMHO. Pilot Edge has real human controllers who are super patient and will take time to correct and train. Re: "PopOut Panels" -- For touch screen interface for your panels, consider Air Manager V4 plus the Knobster Rotary Controller. Latest Features of Air Manager v4.2 -- "As some already know, the most the most prominent feature is video streaming in combination with X-Plane 12. This means that with X-Plane 12, you no longer have to use pop-out windows. Glass cockpit images are streamed directly to Air Manager. This feature will also come to the tablet versions of Air Manager."
I actually use g1000 units so not air manager. That’s a good point about unit letting me away with the ident as it did ask for it. Wondering if the ATC will get better over time and more strict.
@@g-locmedia Ai theoretically is capable of learning. Keep us posted on that. You can always tell your Ai ATC - "Student Pilot - Solo" when you first talk to Ground. See if it behaves "nicer".
Many of the enforcements are currently shut off due to the number of users are brand new to VFR comms and then go report their lack of knowledge as program bugs. It is still a beta, so there are some decent bugs left to fix, but those can’t get found when you have a constant string of bug reports that are “I didn’t get flight following when I said “(callsign) requesting flight following””…. No destination, no present location, no altitude, no type, nothing…. Just “requesting flight following”…. There wasn’t much choice but to ***temporarily*** shut those off.
It's going to be interesting to see where thi goes. I also should have noted that I had student Pilot mode on. Its a cool peice of software thats pushing me to learn much more about and speaking to ATC. @@lpburke86
These AI ATC services look great until you see how much you will pay for them. I like the approach sayintentions is taking. Not overhyping this product, keeping expectations realistic. However, 29.95 per month seems too expensive for this add on.
@@g-locmedia You have that element if you use any ATC service available now except, of course, the default one. That 29.95 per month will get old soon. I mean, that's 2 Netflix accounts. I believe that this app, as well as BATC are positioning themselves to see if ASOBO acquires them to then be integrated into the sim as the default ATC service.
Not $30+… $29.95 a month… and that’s operating at virtually no profit due to the cost of the several AIs required to operate…. That cost will come down as the price of those services come down.
They say it will likely come down as tech evolves but when that will be I have no idea. I think the value is there if get a lot of use out and your learning.
@@g-locmediaFrom what I’ve seen in your video, it looks like right now it’s an impressive technical achievement but a terrible learning tool. ATC not correcting your mistakes or requiring readbacks is a very bad thing, as it just teaches bad habits. E.g., it never told you that you forgot to request a VFR clearance, even though the ATIS instructed you to do so, nor did it complain when you didn’t follow the instruction to line up and wait. (That means to enter the runway and wait for the takeoff clearance.) It’s okay for you not to know these things, but how are you supposed to learn them, if nobody even tells you what you did wrong and how to do it right? Ideally, teachers should be understanding but pedantic: They shouldn’t make the student feel bad for making a mistake, but should use it as a teaching opportunity to show how it is done properly. Right now, this tool just lets you get away with everything. That’s cool if all you want is feel like you’re talking to ATC, but it’s useless as a learning tool. If they can find a way for ATC to politely explain mistakes and require proper readbacks and phraseology, this could definitely help with learning. Until then, it’s a cool toy for extra immersion.
It is fairly slow at the moment but they are working on that. As for the price I guess it depends how much you get out of it. They have also said the price should continue to drop over time.
You're rig looks so great! Have I seen it correct, that your rig is moving but the monitors are not mounted to the rig (so they don't move)? How does that feel for immersion? Actually flying VR but thinking of triple monitor setup for allday use.
@@g-locmedia Thanks for the fast reply. Let´s see, if I'll go that way too 🤓 VR is great, but sometimes especially for longer flights a monitor setup would be a good alternative.
My friend. You are so correct. I became legally blind 10 years ago and had to stop flying. I am trying to get back into it now, but this is a game changer.
Love your videos and love your setup, Iv got a 3 55” oleds I need to bring into one room and create what you have, it looks like the perfect size for a cockpit
It's a great system and very immersive, but they need to resolve the 5-15 seconds delay you get EVERY time you speak to ATC, before you get a response. Clearly it's searching it's AI databases and forming a response, but the time take to get the response is currently just too long.
@@g-locmedia my very first radio call...."radio check" did at Bankstown...First one always the hardest but get used to it after a while. I listen in a lot on the network and mainly fly VFR at regionals so a little easier.
It’ll be a completely different experience… they won’t stack up at all. BATC isn’t AI, as confirmed by the developer last week on their discord. SayIntentions is 100% GA focused with low IFR coming in the near future and Hi IFR probably never, and BATC is 100% commercial IFR focused with VFR sometime in the future maybe… the only thing they’ll have in common is they are ATC addons.
Such a helpful video man, im in a similar situation as you, unfortunately many online guides are all experienced simmers that use vatsim etc, and does nothing to lower the anxiety. To see someone learning in live time is such a great tool. I was looking forward to beyond ATC too, as the TERRIBLE default atc is ruining nearly every flight, i swear its in worse condition now, than at launch!! i dont like subscriptions, but as he described on his page, i understand why, its just i dont fly often enough to justify subs. seems cool though
Your push to talk button for say intentions (on your yoke) was also set up as your AP disconnect!! Every time you hit PTT, you were disconnecting your AP. We could see the flashing yellow AP disconnect on the PFD.
Oh man ! Never heard of it . I am on VATSIM since 2 years already and done my first flight after more than a year of flying on observer mode learning as much as i could before logging my first official one on the network now i am about 10 flights in and the only thing that really helped me much was preparing in advance most of the conversations i would have with ATC and just fill them with changable data such as tail number etc and most important thing is make those on paper and hold them on your kneeor whatever. I am watching the development of BeyondATC and now i have a second one on the horizon ! Thanks mate ! And wish all the courage you can get to make that step .
@@g-locmedia Heard about it but never tried , VATSIM is more aproachable IMO . Besides that, as you mentioned i hope AI progress will be beneficial for us simmers and looking forward for this year as it seems its going to be a aviation banger
Hey! Glad to finally hear this AI implemented. I’ve been using pilot edge for years and it made a huge difference in my IRL flying. Taking to ATC just add a heavy level of immersion, it keeps your flying……accountable. Keep at it and in no time you’ll sound like a captain.
If you want immersion, there is nothing better than VATSIM. I completely understand the nerves. Once you get the hang of it, there’s nothing to it. Unfortunately there are a lot of times and places where controllers aren’t on, so I’m definitely looking forward to AI atc. But I’m waiting for beyond atc.
I have to say that pilotedge is the most realistic atc experience. The problem with vatsim is all the facilities like ground, tower, app, and center are not available simultaneously for the whole flight. It can be hit or miss on having atc service.
Nothing is better for immersion that being mid landing and having center, tower, and ground all go offline at the same time because they were all the same person, right? @thedrewh10 is right… pilot edge is the most realistic… but they aren’t 24/7, and go ahead and run a mayday on there… you can *hear* how pissed off the controllers get.
